On December 27, 2001 we held Falun Gong activities in central Linköping to tell people of the Falun Gong practitioners who are tortured and persecuted in China.
We were eight practitioners who practised the movements, did the meditation and distributed the truth clarifying information about Falun Gong and the persecution, from ten a clock in the morning to six in the evening. The cold (- 10 C°) did not affect us so much, bearing in mind the practitioners situation in China.
Together we created a field of compassion and a lot of people willingly came forward themselves to take the information and gave us their support. One young woman said I dont understand why practitioners in China are persecuted; you look so peaceful and harmonious. Is there anything I can do to help? The practitioner with whom she was speaking then gave her the petition to sign, which was also signed by many other citizens of Linköping. Many people also showed an interest in Falun Gong and said that they were going to try to practise.
The local newspaper recorded the event and had a small notice printed the following day.
We also held an activity on December 1 on a small square called Lilla Torget and were honoured by the presence of Kristina Bengtsson a local politician for the environmentalist-party who gave a touching speech comparing the situation of the practitioners in China with our situation here preparing for celebrating Christmas and that we should in accordance with Christmas-tradition think of people in need.
A practitioner from Finspång, a nearby town, also attended having just arrived back from China where she participated in the 20th November demonstration of 36 Westerners in Beijing. The local press quoted her as saying I went because I wanted to show my solidarity with the Chinese practitioners who are imprisoned and beaten to death. She was dragged from her hair and beaten on her face, If they treat us westerners like this you can only imagine how they treat Chinese practitioners of Falun Gong.
