I Wish More People would Discover the Benefits of Falun Gong Practice

I work in product development at Volvo Cars Corporation in Sweden. Occasionally, my department organises retreats to quiet places in the countryside or by the sea for team-training and creative thinking. During one of these trips my boss asked me to teach the Falun Gong exercises to our team.

I chose a lawn by the seaside near our conference hall. The weather was perfect with sunshine and sea breezes. We did the exercises together easily, as if my colleagues had done them before. “So nice and relaxing,” said one of them, to which the others agreed.

We are design engineers, project leaders and technical specialists. Our work is demanding. Mental stress can sneak upon us and strike without warning. Recently, one of our colleagues became ill from overworking and had to leave our team. Seven years ago, I was near collapse because of stress. I suffered from palpitations, insomnia, allergies, regular colds, haemorrhoids and bleeding ulcers.

I was lucky to find Falun Gong. Within a month of learning the exercises, my condition began to improve. I felt that my uncomfortable body recovered a little after every practice session. The effect was even better each time I could follow Falun Gong’s principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance through handling conflicts with others well. It was as if my body and soul were one. I realised that one cannot feel good without a healthy body and a body without a good soul withers away.

By observing the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance as taught in Falun Gong, I experienced physical and mental well-being. When I cultivate myself, it means consciously making an effort to think of others first, give up the struggle for prestige, be more forgiving, let go of jealousy and egoism and not hurt others. I do not succeed every time, but I always try to do better next time.

The palpitations that had bothered me for a long time disappeared and I felt my body was as light as a feather. I was always feeble before, but after I had started to practise I could walk briskly and for long distances and skip up and down the stairs with ease. In addition I am more efficient and can cope with stress at work. Falun Gong actually saved my life. I wish more people would try the practice and enjoy the wonderful benefits that I have experienced.
