"Politics" is a Smokescreen for the CCP's Persecution of Falun Gong

For several years now, the Chinese Communist Party has shamelessly claimed that Falun Gong practitioners have been involved in "politics" whenever practitioners try to raise awareness about their persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Perhaps the CCP has never really gained a good grasp of the term "politics," given that it has always ruled by force. But a thorough analysis of all the events that have taken place since the introduction of Falun Gong will demonstrate how the CCP has been using the term "politics" as an excuse for its persecution of Falun Gong.

Both before and after the persecution began in 1999, Falun Gong practitioners have been peaceful, law-abiding, exemplary and model citizens. Healthy and calm, they are often the hardest working people in any work unit, the breadwinners and pillars of their families, and a valuable asset and positive blessing to society. They simply do their jobs well and practise the exercises and read the Falun Gong books in their free time. They have never been involved in politics, except if their job was related to that field.

Even the April 25th, 1999 large-scale appeal at Zhongnanhai took place in response to an unwarranted and illegal beating of practitioners in Tianjin who had simply gone to report their position to a newspaper that slandered them. This "April 25th incident", as it has come to be been known, was resolved peacefully when then-Premier Zhu Rongji came out to talk to the appellants and the arrested practitioners in Tianjin were released without any charges filed against them.

After July 20th 1999, Falun Gong practitioners were prohibited from practising in public. In order to win back their basic right - the right to freedom of belief, guaranteed by the Chinese constitution - Falun Gong practitioners went to appeal at Beijing, Tiananmen Square and the Appeals Offices. Instead of being listened to, they were beaten and whisked away in police vans to prisons and labour camps to be tortured, raped and murdered.

Shortly after that, all avenues for lawful appeal were sealed off, and the places of appeal were turned into places for being arrested. With the CCP solely in control of all media, it was easy to turn on a large-scale, slanderous propaganda campaign to demonise Falun Gong practitioners and fan hatred among the Chinese public towards Falun Gong practitioners.

After the persecution began, many cases were reported in which husbands would beat or even murder their wives who practised Falun Gong, so afraid were they of being implicated in the anti-Falun Gong campaign. Young adults, breadwinners and even children were thrown out of houses and asked, "never to return" by parents who listened to the CCP's poison and hated Falun Gong. Family members would assist the CCP's persecution of their loved ones who practised Falun Gong.

In this dire situation, Falun Gong practitioners continued to peacefully appeal to their leaders and the public. They put up posters, hung banners and distributed brochures that state what Falun Gong is, the truth about Falun Gong, the falsehood of the media propaganda and how their human rights are being abused.

Frightened that people in China and people around the world would come to realise that what Falun Gong practitioners say is true - that Falun Gong is a peaceful cultivation and meditation practise that is being irrationally persecuted by the CCP - the CCP labelled Falun Gong practitioners as being "unpatriotic," as being "helped by foreign forces" and involved in "politics."

This is because the CCP knows that if people listen to the truth about what Falun Gong is and the persecution, they will realise that the CCP has once again launched one of its mass, irrational movements against innocent people. In order to stem this, and hoping to whip up people's nationalistic fervour to dim their sense of justice, the CCP has claimed that Falun Gong is involved in "politics."

And they may never end this claim. Because Falun Gong practitioners are still being persecuted by the CCP, the day the CCP retracts this claim is when people will realise that a group of innocent people were persecuted simply for believing in "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." So it will continue labelling Falun Gong practitioners as being "politically involved."

However, Falun Gong has never been involved in politics, and this fact has been thoroughly demonstrated by the words and deeds of Falun Gong practitioners around the world. Falun Gong practitioners have always just done the exercises and read the books, and since 1999, exposed the truth about what Falun Gong is and the way they have been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party.
