Chinese scholars, students and Falun Gong practitioners in Germany, together with German sinologists and Chinese media in Europe, are in the process of organising a seminar to extensively discuss issues concerning the Chinese Communist Party, as well as the contemporary spiritual culture and society established by the Communist Party. The following was reported by Tian Yi, special correspondent for Radio Free Asia in Germany:

Since Jiang Zemin retreated to the back burner of China's political arena, while Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao took over the helm of the Chinese Government and the Chinese Communist Party, China has never lessened its persecution against Falun Gong practitioners and dissidents. In this context, following The Epoch Times’ Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communists, some Chinese scholars, students, and Chinese media in Europe, are in the process of organising a seminar to further discuss issues concerning contemporary spiritual culture and society. Radio Free Asia’s special correspondent interviewed Ms. Zheng Zhihong, a scholar from China’s Zhejiang University, who has practised Falun Gong since 1997.

With regard to the contrast between Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party, as well as the contrast between spiritual and social culture, Ms. Zheng Zhihong commented, “Falun Gong advocates ‘Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance’ but the Chinese Communist Party promotes vicious struggles. Therefore, they are fundamentally different. Secondly, belief holds people in awe, but the Chinese Communist Party maintains its political power by terror. After it took over power, the Chinese Communist Party has launched a variety of campaigns to continue its ruling position. This persecution did not end in the wake of Jiang Zemin’s step-down. In this context, we can know that the Chinese regime cannot tolerate the belief with the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.” In other words, in this persecution, the Chinese regime chose Jiang Zemin’s decision and Jiang used the authoritarian Chinese Government to carry out this persecution.

Ms. Zheng Zhihong added that Falun Gong has a loose administration, and it is practitioners that take the initiative to form a loose organisation to facilitate cultivation, which is a stark contrast to the Chinese Communist Party that has complicated organisations to control its people stringently. However, what’s more important is that Falun Gong has righteous belief in which practitioners believe there is something higher than human beings; as a result, they don’t believe in what the Chinese Communist Party represents. To deal with these social, cultural and ideological problems, German Falun Gong practitioners plan to invite some renowned scholars, sinologists and organisations to hold a seminar. Regardless of whether other people agree with Falun Gong practitioners’ views, at least these issues are worth discussing.
