27th November 2004: Chief Superintendent Bill Donoghue and Detective Superintendent P.J. Browne of Pearse St. Garda Station Dublin Ireland have been appointed by the Assistant Commissioner of Operations Al McHugh to investigate allegations against Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Ju that he conspired to commit torture against Falun Dafa practitioners.

The investigation of these allegations and any subsequent trial of Huang Ju presents the Irish judicial system with an historic opportunity to examine the evidence and investigate if a high ranking Chinese official was aware of, involved in or planned the systematic use of torture in the persecution of one hundred million mainstream Chinese people.

The methods used to force Falun Dafa practitioners to give up their beliefs have included the widespread use of torture. The application of torture has been systematic with similar methods and techniques being used across the country, implying a centralised approach to deal with Falun Dafa practitioners.

A spokesperson for the Irish Falun Dafa Information Centre, who is also a victim of torture in China’s labour camps, Zhao Ming said: “Vice-Premier Huang Ju on different occasions publicly declared his support for the persecution, and used his position and authority to force his subordinates to implement it. We believe that he did this in the full knowledge that millions of innocent people would suffer torture and illegal arrest. We also believe that the Irish courts are fair and will give Huang Ju every opportunity to defend himself. In contrast, Falun Dafa practitioners in China have no access to a fair impartial judicial system.”

Irish Falun Dafa practitioners have submitted, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, a list of 102 Chinese officials that there is evidence to suggest have participated in the persecution of Falun Dafa. When asked why these names were submitted, Zhao Ming said, “The persecution of Falun Dafa has brought so much suffering and hardship to innocent people. The Irish Government has played a leading role in improving human rights in the world. We believe if they know how some Chinese officials are involved in the persecution they would reconsider inviting them to Ireland.” He added “Not every Chinese official took part in the persecution, but if those who have played an active role in the persecution enter Ireland we will use the Irish judicial system to seek justice.”
