On Saturday the 13th of October 2004, Falun Gong practitioners from Baie-Mahault city in Guadeloupe organised an anti-torture poster exhibition to expose the serious and violent human rights violations against Falun Gong in China and to show people the barbarity of the various torture methods used to try and force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their beliefs.

People were extremely shocked and said they could never have imagined that in today’s world such draconian methods are being used against a group of peaceful people in China who just want to live their lives by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. This exhibition also showed the stark contrast between the peaceful and righteous actions of the Falun Gong practitioners, who after five years of persecution have never been known to retaliate against their suppressors, and the darkness of this violent persecution that aims at destroying the practitioners’ spirit and self dignity by making them betray their spiritual convictions.

Many children came to see the exhibition. They carefully read every poster and asked many questions. After seeing the poster display, one lady said angrily, “If someone asked me to torture these people, I would rather die than do that.” Another lady asked, “How could this be happening in our time?”

Many people came to sign our petition to call for an end to the five years of genocide that former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin has waged against Falun Gong. They felt that they are lucky to be living in Guadeloupe where people are free to practise their own spiritual beliefs without fear of persecution.
