On the 21st and 22nd of September, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners from England and Wales held an anti-torture exhibition outside the conference hall in Bournemouth where the annual Liberal Democrat Party Conference was being held. Party conferences, which are attended by virtually all MPs, are a valuable opportunity for them to learn the facts about Falun Dafa, through first-hand contact with practitioners.

Demonstrating the exercises and displaying information boards 'Confinement in a small cage'

A practitioner in realistic make-up demonstrated 'confinement in a small cage', one of the methods of torture widely used in Chinese prisons and labour camps to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. At the same time, other practitioners demonstrated the peaceful Falun Gong exercises, gathered signatures for our petition to 'Bring Jiang to Justice', and talked at length with conference delegates and members of the public.

Discussing Falun Gong and the persecution in detail

Over 200 delegates signed our petition and most received a leaflet. In addition, on the 22nd, the Independent newspaper named our exhibition as the 'best protest' in a brief but positive report in their 'Conference Highlights' section. The police were very helpful. Practitioners returned home on the 22nd enriched, happy and enthusiastically exchanging experiences.
