Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province

From November 3 to 8, 2001, Jiang Zemin was in Shijiazhuang City. His arrival immediately brought tension, turbulence, and disturbance to the people there. The police in the city arrested a large number of the migrant population indiscriminately. They also imposed a curfew on the populace, revealing Jiang's need to maintain strict control.

Dafa practitioners in Shijiazhuang City responded to the visit by putting up many Dafa banners along the main streets, on the overpasses and on residential buildings. Some banners attached to balloons flew over those streets that had already been cordoned off. The police were so afraid of the impact of these balloons that they shot at them to bring them down. The glittering Dafa banners greatly shocked the evil. They reacted in anger against Dafa disciples.

In the early morning on November 5, Dafa disciple Liu Shuqin disappeared suddenly. It was later learned that the police captured her and illegally detained her at the No.2 Section of the Sizhong Road Police Station, Qiaodong Branch of the Shijiazhuang Public Security Bureau. Liu Shuqin faced the detention with a fortitude that commanded admiration and respect. She refused to report her name or to cooperate with any orders, instructions, or requirements. She has been on a hunger and water strike ever since. It has been 26 days, and her life is in great danger. However, the police still won't release her, but continue to torture her weak body and force-feed her with salt water.
