Foreigners protest in China

[Peking, 21 nov. ] Yesterday thirty- five foreigners, who demonstrated against the oppression of the Falun Gong movement in China, were caught on Tiananmen Square in Peking.
It is the first time that a demonstration of the Falun Gong exclusively consisted of foreign participants. The official Chinese press office stated that the demonstrators have been given the order to leave China “within a fixed term”. This term was not specified. Some of them have already been put on a plane.

The demonstrators…sat down and closed their eyes while folding their hands... Others unfurled Falun Gong banners… Almost immediately police vans surrounded the demonstrators, who were taken away by policemen in uniform… A spokesmen of the Falun Gong in France said in an interview with the French press agency ”AFP” that he was called by one of the demonstrators on the Square. According to the spokesman the police had beaten the demonstrators. …

…..the followers of the movement are exposed to severe persecution. Many are imprisoned.
