Garmisch-Partenkirchen is located at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain, Zugspitze (2,962m), in Alpen, Bavaria. The Olympic Winter Games (1936) and the Winter World Championship (1978) took place here. With its charming scenery and snow-clad mountains, this town became a healing resort and the winter sports centre of Germany, and attracts a considerable number of tourists every year.

Recently, a Falun Dafa practitioner moved to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In order to let the local people know more about Falun Dafa (also called ‘Falun Gong’), he immediately applied for a space in the town centre and was granted permission. With the help of other practitioners in nearby cities, a Falun Gong Information Day activity was successfully held on April the 3rd 2004.

The most frequent questions the practitioners heard were "What is Falun Gong? Why does the Chinese Government persecute Falun Gong?" A businessman who often goes to China on trips asked practitioners why such a peaceful practice would be persecuted. Practitioners explained how the practice improves the state of mind and body, as well as one’s moral standard, and as a result attracted approximately one hundred million practitioners in China. Now the ex-President Jiang Zemin cruelly employs the whole country’s propaganda machine to suppress and slander these innocent people who believe in ‘Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance’ due to his own jealousy and selfishness. Practitioners said how Jiang even controls the media to poison Chinese people and ruin the reputation of Falun Gong. After listening, a lot of people conveyed their blessings to practitioners, and wished the persecution would end as soon as possible. Some people asked for more leaflets for their friends and neighbours. Some also said that they would like to learn the practice.
