FRANKFURT AM MAIN, November 14, 2001 (kna). The International Association for Human Rights (IGFM in German/translator) sharply criticized the Federal Republic of Germany’s position toward China. In its contact with China, Berlin [seat of Germany’s government] “abandoned all prudence, although the PRC systematically damages human rights,” so said an IGFM spokesperson in Frankfurt on Wednesday.

Since China has managed to portray herself as a member of the alliance against terrorism, domestic terrorism in China and the intensity of damage against human rights have increased in the PRC, so said the speaker. The intensity has escalated, especially … against members of the Falun Gong who are persecuted with ever more harsh measures. The German government, however, is silent in the face of these human rights violations.
