Spain: A Successful Press Conference held in Madrid

After Dafa practitioners filed a criminal lawsuit against Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan at the Spanish National Court on the 15th of October, a press conference was held at the Intercontinental Hotel. The conference was attended by "Reuters", Spain's "National Radio Station", Spain’s biggest news agency "El Pais", "Cado" magazine, "NTDTV" and many others.

The conference was opened by the lawyer Mr. Iglesias, who spoke on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners, informing the press that former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin and "610 Office"* head Luo Gan have being sued. He talked about the cruel persecution that Falun Gong practitioners have suffered over the last four years and the crimes that Jiang and Luo have committed, according to Spanish law.

Afterwards, several of the Falun Gong complainants separately detailed their experiences of persecution and the persecution of their relatives. Ms. Zhizhen Dai explained that her husband was murdered by the Jiang regime. She also said that she demands that Jiang is brought to trial on behalf of all mothers and children who have been persecuted. A renowned actress, Ms. Yifang Chen, spoke about the torment and torture that her son had suffered because he refused to give up his belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Famous artist Ms. Zhang Cuiying, gave evidence of the Jiang regime’s violence based on her own experiences. One Spanish citizen and Falun Gong practitioner told of the persecution he had experienced when he went to appeal in Beijing.

The great compassion and tolerance of the practitioners moved everyone who attended the press conference. Some people were so touched that they wept. The information given by practitioners was not solely confined to the lawsuit and practitioner’s made as good a job as they could in clarifying the truth in detail and exposing the nature of the evil. The media at the conference paid great attention and asked questions one after another. The entire conference was transformed into a medium to inform the attendants of the systematic and comprehensive nature of this persecution. The reporters also asked questions about the lawsuit and questions about the persecution of Falun Gong. All of these questions provided practitioners with the opportunity to clarify the truth further.

The entire press conference lasted two hours. The practitioners present clarified the truth from different perspectives. Some of the media remained until after the press conference to conduct individual interviews. A reporter of a large newspaper interviewed Ms. Zhizhen Dai. As a mother, she told her story and condemned the persecution.
