From June 28th to July 3rd, practitioners in Gothenburg have been collecting signatures in order to support the upholding of human rights in Hong Kong and oppose the Article 23 legislation.

On one particularly busy day day, over 500 people signed the petition. Also, many young people seemed very interested in learning more about Article 23. Some had heard about it through different media channels. To those who didn't know about Article 23, practitioners gave them a brief outline and revealed how Article 23 will have negative effects on the world and not just Hong Kong. After hearing the truth, almost everyone said, "It'll be a shame if Hong Kong accepts this law".

One young man, who had studied international economics, said to practitioners that if this law is accepted many foreign companies will leave Hong Kong, thereby causing great damage to Hong Kong’s economy. We also explained about the severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and Christians - such as the Catholic Church in China - and that the persecution could spread to Hong Kong if Article 23 is accepted. Some Chinese tourists also received information in Chinese about the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
