Austria: Practitioners from Different Countries Expose the Persecution of Falun Gong during the Eastern European Summit

On May 23 2003, leaders of several European countries attended a summit conference in Salzburg, Austria. Upon learning about the conference, Salzburg Falun Dafa practitioners decided to hold a “Falun Dafa Information Day”. Practitioners from Austria, Germany and Switzerland joined this event.

Because of the summit conference, the inner region of Salzburg town was declared a secure area. Therefore, the practitioners’ original application to hold an activity was not approved. However, after communicating with police officers, approval was obtained. Practitioners were permitted to hold the activity from 9 am to 3 pm at a site that was only 200 metres away from the summit conference.

The summit was attended by leaders from various countries and media outlets. Information about Falun Dafa and the persecution instigated by Jiang Zemin was quickly distributed. A First Lady accepted an information pack from a practitioner. A photographer told practitioners that a local TV station would broadcast a report about Falun Gong that evening. Although it was drizzling for a few hours at the beginning, local residents and many tourists showed great interest in learning about Falun Dafa. Practitioners held some very good conversations with passers by. One gentleman attentively listened to a practitioners’ introduction to Falun Gong and the on-going persecution in China. Just as he was about to leave, he heard another gentleman’s conversation with a practitioner and stepped forward to explain what is happening in China.

Some people had heard about Falun Gong before and asked what they could do to help. One lady came over to the Falun Gong display and said, “I must sign this petition letter. I have heard many times about the persecution of Falun Gong in China.” Another lady said, “I think what you have been doing is truly great!” More and more people are learning the facts of the persecution and supporting practitioners’ righteous actions.
