German Practitioners Increase their Efforts to Rescue Xiong Wei

With the rescue efforts of practitioners in Germany, as well as other countries, and the timely support rendered by various levels of the German government, Lin Wenrong finally returned to Germany at the end of March. At present, German practitioners are stepping up their efforts to rescue Berlin Technical University student Xiong Wei.

On January 5th 2002, police in Beijing arrested Xiong Wei while she was giving out flyers revealing the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. Three months later, starting on January 5th 2002, she was sentenced to two years of forced labour. Currently, she is being illegally imprisoned in the Xinan Female Labour Camp in Beijing (the telephone numbers are shown at the end of this article). According to her parents, Xiong Wei has become extremely under-weight. Because her parents’ telephone line is monitored, there is no further information available.

Since Xiong Wei was illegally imprisoned, German practitioners have launched a series of appeals to rescue her, which have been widely reported by the media in Germany. The German government has also paid close attention to this matter. During Jiang’s visit to Germany in 2002, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer handed Jiang a letter urging the Chinese government to release several innocent people, including Xiong Wei.

The German government has also asked its embassy in China to pay close attention to Xiong Wei’s current situation, and has sent a letter to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this matter. The reply received stated that Xiong Wei will be released when her jail term expires on January 5 2004. The Frankfurt-based International Human Rights Association regards Xiong Wei as an urgent rescue case. Last March, a signature-collecting campaign was launched to support Xiong Wei, and a large number of signatures have now been collected. Last October, with assistance from the German Falun Gong Association, a postcard-mailing activity was also launched to rescue Xiong Wei. About 30,000 postcards have been mailed so far.

After the successful rescue of Lin Wenrong, practitioners in Germany exchanged viewpoints on what they have done throughout the past year to rescue Xiong Wei. They sensed that they should strengthen their righteous thoughts so that they can rescue their fellow practitioners successfully. In the meantime, all practitioners in Germany should become one body, and clarify the facts about Falun Gong to all levels of the German Governments, various organisations as well as kind-hearted German people thoroughly, and urge them to do more to rescue practitioners in China. After exchanging viewpoints, they also noticed that in the past year they have neglected the fact that Dafa’s main body is in China. The Xinan Female Labour Camp where Xiong Wei was imprisoned has constantly persecuted Dafa practitioners, with brutal fascist methods. From now on, we should intensify our efforts by sending forth righteous thoughts and making phone calls to the labour camps, “610 Offices” and other judicial agencies to expose the vicious policemen’s brutal deeds. In the meantime, we should further tell the truth to all levels of the Chinese governments and the Chinese people, so that Xiong Wei can regain her freedom as soon as possible.

Background information: Xiong Wei studied at Berlin Technical University in Germany from 1993 to 1999. During that period of time, she started to practise Falun Gong, and volunteered to teach the exercises at a practice site in Berlin. After the completion of her professional training, she returned to Beijing to work there. She worked with a German company in Beijing during the several months before she was arrested. In order not to cause trouble to the company, she took the initiative to submit her resignation.
