Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xiaobo from Haikou, Hainan Province, is a salesman at the Hualing Real Estate Marketing Ltd. He was arrested at work and taken to a brainwashing centre on May 8th, 2015, where staff tried to brainwash him for about 18 hours daily.

Mr. Wang recently managed to escape from the brainwashing centre and tell his story.

Breaking Left Arm

I am Wang Xiaobo, a relatively new practitioner. On the morning of May 8th, four officers from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) arrested me at my workplace and took me to a brainwashing centre on the 4th floor of the Huatian Hotel in the Shiziling Industrial District.

They started to deprive me of food on the second day. I was told to stand to attention on the morning of May 11th, which I refused. I was beaten and they broke my left arm, which was set by a doctor.

After it was decided that I was getting better, the brainwashing started in full force. It went on for about 18 hours a day for seven days.

Escaping from the Brainwashing Centre

Those trying to brainwash practitioners at the brainwashing centre left on June 11th. So I locked the room.

I was able to kick away the bars on the window, climb out and down the air conditioning units from the 4th floor to the 2nd floor. Then I jumped to the ground and left the hotel.

Eight people were involved in the brainwashing sessions and there were two police officers on duty every day. They also hired two security guards to watch the gate on the 4th floor and monitor the practitioners in their rooms.

There were about 10 practitioners there at the time of my arrest.

A male practitioner in his 60s refused to be “transformed” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. He was tortured and verbally abused daily.
