Mr. Song Zhanling Serving 11 Year Prison Term; Skull Fractured as a Result of Persecution

Mr. Song Zhanli was arrested on March 28th, 2008, by officers from the Huayuan Police Station. He was taken to the Nangang District Detention Centre in Harbin City, where guards instigated criminal inmates to physically abuse him. They pulled his hair and repeatedly slammed his head against the wall, resulting in a fractured skull.

On March 31st, 2008, Mr. Song was transferred to the Tonghe County Detention Centre, where he was interrogated many times by Liu Peimin from the Tonghe Domestic Security Division and Zhang Xiaohui from the Tonghe Procuratorate. After several failed attempts to force Mr. Zhang to reveal the names of other practitioners, Liu and Zhang managed to convince officials at Tonghe County Court to sentence him to 11 years in prison.

Mr. Song was initially taken to the Hulan Prison in Harbin. He was later transferred to Daqing Prison, where he has been tortured in the 7 th ward for the past several years. Criminal inmates Cong Liding and Ding You beat Mr. Song and denied him food. Guard Zhang Chunsheng slapped him in the face and guard Li Chunhe beat him with a baton.

Mr. Song is now being held in the 5 th ward of Daqing Prison.

Home Ransacked and Forced to Leave Home

Liu Peimin and a group of officers from the Tonghe Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Song's neighbour's home, who is also a practitioner, at around 11 p.m. on July 18th, 2007, but Mr. Song managed to escape. Although he was able to avoid being arrested, officers still ransacked his home and confiscated a large number of truth clarification materials, a printer, computer and other personal belongings.

Mr. Song was forced to stay away from his home for almost a year, until he was arrested in March 2008.

Mr. Song was born on May 25th, 1969, and is from Chengxi Village in Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province. He started to practise Falun Gong in 1998.
