Every Saturday, activities to raise awareness about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s persecution are held on St. Martin Square in downtown London. But the situation on October 20, 2012 was a bit different. The major focus of the day was to collect signatures condemning the CCP's brutal crime of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and urging the United Nations to conduct an independent investigation to stop the abuse. The event received strong support from the British people.

Falun Gong practitioners expose the CCP’s atrocity of live organ harvesting in St. Martin Square, London

As usual, Falun Gong practitioners set up an information table and display. Besides posters, they also put up banners calling for an independent investigation by the United Nations into the CCP’s atrocity of live organ harvesting. During the five-hour activity, some practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, while others handed out flyers and talked with passers-by.

Hundreds of thousands of people passed by St. Martin Square on the busy Saturday afternoon. Many of them took the flyers while others stopped to watch the demonstration of Falun Gong exercises. Among them, some said that it was the first time they learned about Falun Gong; others who had heard of Falun Gong before said that it was the first time they learned about the live organ harvesting crimes. Regardless of nationality, religion, occupation and age, they signed the petition without hesitation to the United Nations hoping to help stop the brutal crimes.

Emma, a young British girl, lived near the Chinese Embassy in London. Although she knew that there were twenty-four-hour peaceful protest by UK Falun Gong practitioners, she never learned more about it. While walking downtown with her mother, she came across Falun Gong practitioners again. The young girl read the information on the panels and was shocked by the CCP’s crime of live organ harvesting. She was very upset. Encouraged by her mum, Emma signed the petition.

Among the hundreds of people who signed the petition were Mr. and Mrs. White, both of whom are devout Christians. Mr. White is a government official. Having read carefully the content of the petition for an independent investigation by the United Nations of the CCP’s organ harvesting crimes, they claimed that: “It is imperative for us to sign this petition for it is related to each one of us. We cannot forget the history in which the Christians were cruelly persecuted.”

There was a number of Chinese from Mainland China, including the Chinese students, who stopped to watch the demonstration of Falun Gong exercises and learned about the persecution. Three Chinese students from Manchester went directly to the information table and asked a western practitioner to tell them more about Falun Gong. They said that they just came out of China and it was the first time for them to hear about the CCP’s crime of live organ harvesting. After a long discussion with the practitioners, one of the girls submitted her statement to withdraw from the CCP and the other two expressed support as well.

Around five o'clock, when the events had almost come to an end, a young British man who had been at the booth two hours before returned to St. Martin Square. He stood there quietly watching the Falun Gong practitioners. Together with him was his friend, who had had a long talk with the practitioners and signed the petition. When asked why he came back, the young man answered that he enjoyed feeling the peaceful energy from Falun Gong practitioners. He praised the practitioners, saying, "It is amazing and overwhelming to treat the most brutal evil party in the most peaceful way. The silent and peaceful nature of the protest is exactly what the people today in difficulty need. Falun Gong practitioners have set a good example for all of us.”
