President of a Swedish Human Rights Organisation Publicly Condemns the Persecution of Falun Gong [08.08.2009]

"Ten years of the persecution of Falun Gong in China have already passed. Ten years of illegal detention, cruel torture, and forced labour. Ten years of brainwashing propaganda and lies have passed. During these ten years, Falun Gong practitioners have never adopted violence, but have simply and peacefully asked to be allowed the freedom of belief."

September 2008

Open letter to CEO of Eutelsat Communications from 11 Organisations [11.09.2008]

"As China’s repression becomes more widely known and more widely condemned, as our children ask us what we did about Communism’s violence, oppression, and inexorable ascendancy, we hope that Eutelsat will be remembered well. For the sake of so many suppressed Chinese people, we hope that they may access truth, rather than propaganda. We hope that Eutelsat will play its part, not kowtow to Communism, not be complicit in the suppression of truth, freedom, and human rights, and resume NTDTV’s signals immediately."

November 2007

Speech: "The Society for Threatened Peoples International is deeply concerned about the ongoing and brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners." [16.11.2007]

"Since July 1999, thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and sentenced to jail terms or administrative detention in re-education camps, and were imprisoned in psychiatric facilities. Detained Falun Gong practitioners are often victims of torture and abuse. Torture is a method to intimidate Falun Gong adherents and to force them to renounce their faith and no longer practise the meditative exercises. In protest of their situation and the miserable detention conditions, Falun Gong adherents regularly go on a hunger strike. This result’s often in maltreatment represented by force-feeding and forced labour."

October 2007

Letter to the German Federal Chancellor and the Foreign Minister [20.10.2007]

"Worldwide, voices of people that believe in justice are growing stronger in their condemnation of the organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from live Falun Gong practitioners. Alas, it has been shown that these voices are not welcome in Munich. Mr. Gang Chen was given notice by Munich’s office of the district attorney and served with a summons because he had organised a legally registered and permitted rally outside the Chinese Consulate. The participant demonstrated with banners and the re-enactment of an organ harvesting scene, that depicts the inhuman crime of organ harvesting and violation of diplomatic respect."

August 2007

Secretary General of Interfaith International Centre: CCP Has Failed in Its Attempt to Defame Falun Gong [28.08.2007]

In the Athens press conference launching the "Human Rights Torch Relay", Dr. Charles Graves, Secretary General of Interfaith International Centre, delivered a speech in which he proclaimed that people in Western society have come to understand Falun Gong through observations and the Chinese regime's attempt to defame Falun Gong have failed.

Speech in Athens at Launch of Human Rights Torch [14.08.2007]

"China has no special ‘right’ to practise discrimination against any of its religious minorities. Many political leaders who have visited China have asked the political leaders of the People’s Republic to respect human rights. Among these requests is that China respect the religious orientations of the Falun Gong belief."

July 2007

Speech Given at a Press Conference in London by Vice-Chair of the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China [07.07.2007]

No world event symbolises peace and harmony amongst the people of the world more than the Olympic Games. Besides the significance of Greece being the site of the first Olympics, both ancient and modern, it also hosted the last games in 2004, when all nations of the world were united in the spirit of fair play. If China is allowed to host the next Olympics without first ending its morally corrupt human rights abuses, especially the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, it will be a sad indictment on the moral standards of the world as a whole".

Statement at Press Conference in London by Chair of Coalition to Investigate Persecution of Falun Gong in China [06.07.2007]

"The torch will start on the 9th August in Athens and will then be carried through more than ten countries in Europe and then onto other countries around the world, in order to show the Chinese authorities the volume of support for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong, and to demonstrate the strength of feeling amongst right-minded people that the 2008 Olympics cannot co-exist with a climate of intimidation and physical and mental abuse of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese government".

April 2007

Speech by Vice Chairman of CIPFG-Europe: "The CCP is Clearly Doomed" [08.04.2007]

"We already have numerous documented first-hand experiences of the persecution, but we believe that in time the case against the CCP will be overwhelming. We must strive to reach the point where its evil leaders and their intricate web of subordinates can no longer withstand the weight of international pressure to end the persecution, and to allow Falun Gong practitioners and all other citizens of China to lead peaceful lives under democracy, free from all fear of persecution for their beliefs. China and Chinese people can only have future without CCP and this day is not far away."

March 2007

Chairman of the Peace and Culture Association in Spain Condemns the Persecution of Falun Gong [25.03.2007]

"All reports by the Human Rights Committee of the UN, the Parliament of the European Union, the Parliament of NATO and organisations of human rights such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Observation have mentioned the cruel violation and persecution of the most basic human rights by the CCP government. It has caused many innocent people to suffer from the persecution because of their faith. As the Chairman of the Peace and Culture, my mission is to vindicate the freedom of all people, respect the truth, respect justice equality and tolerance. Such a situation of suppressing individual freedom in faith by force, I firmly oppose it."

February 2007

Chairman of the German International Society for Human Rights: “The persecution of Falun Gong is surely one of the saddest chapters in the history of mankind” [16.02.2007]

"Since the beginning of this persecution in July 1999, based on our information, several hundred thousand arrests already had taken place – many thousands are being detained in forced labour camps, prisons and psychiatric institutes without legal procedures, merely because of their peaceful ideology. In these places, they are exposed to systematic torture. Currently over 3,000 known victims have died as a result of the tortures in these camps, the estimated number of unknown/unreported cases is not included."

Asian Branch of Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) Congratulates the Establishment of CIPFG-Europe [15.02.2007]

"Human dignity today is indivisible around the shrunken planet. All faith communities and other members of civil societies everywhere should be fully united on issues like the ones still facing Falun Gong practitioners across China. All governments of, by and for their citizens should be working much harder and effectively towards achieving a fully democratic world as early as possible in the new century."

President of Danish International Committee: “We owe it to the many millions of people who have suffered at the hands of this brutal regime to root out the evil perpetrators of these terrible crimes” [13.02.2007]

"I wish to add my support to the establishment of the Coalition to Investigate of the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG). It is vitally important that all nations outside China should join together in condemning the ruthless activities of the Chinese authorities towards Falun Gong, and that an investigation should be initiated to find out exactly what has happened in China’s labour camps and prisons over the last seven years since the persecution began, especially regarding the source of the harvesting of human organs for transplant."

Australian Branch of Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) Congratulates the Establishment of the European CIPFG [11.02.2007]

"When 100 million innocent Falun Gong practitioners in China have been under severe persecution and torture for more than seven years, and what is worse, while their vital organs have been the subjects of commodity, as fellow human beings of this global village, we cannot turn a blind eye and do nothing about it. Silence is the same as allowing the murderer to continue killing the innocents."

Eurotransplant Foundation Member Supports Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong [10.02.2007]

"The conclusions of the investigative report by David Kilgour and David Matas of July 6th 2006, together with already existing allegations by e.g. Amnesty International, have caused great concern among the international organ transplant community, since they provide credible evidence for the accusation that the Chinese authorities are implicated in a systematic persecution of Falun Gong followers, and that prisoners from that movement (together with other executed prisoners) are exploited as organ donors. The updated report of Mr. Kilgour and Mr. Matas of January 31st 2007 has further substantiated these alarming findings."

NGO Chairman Speaks on the Establishment of CIPFG-Europe [09.02.2007]

"As we all know the human rights situation in China has not improved in the last few years, despite a dramatic economic improvement. The enormous flow of money into the country has in fact given the communist regime more resources to carry out oppression and persecution. And the recent information about organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners makes it all the more important to put pressure on the Chinese government."

United Kingdom: Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (European Branch) Is Established [07.02.2007]

More than 40 important members of government and prominent members of society from European countries have joined CIPFG-Europe, including members of parliament, senators, lawyers, clergymen, chairmen of NGOs, doctors, writers, journalists and officials from major enterprises and governments in over a dozen countries.

Vice Chairman Speaks at Press Conference to Announce Establishment of CIPFG-Europe [07.02.2007]

"We have organised today’s press conference to announce the establishment of the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG). Over forty VIPs from across Europe have joined the European Coalition so far, among them MPs, senators, lawyers, barristers, clergy, NGO directors, doctors, writers, journalists and other leading company and government officials from over ten countries. We hope that the formation of this kind of coalition will signal a new chapter in the struggle to uncover the truth about the heinous crimes the Chinese government has perpetrated against Falun Gong practitioners over a period of nearly eight years."

January 2007

Press Conference Speech by Director of Czech NGO Human Rights without Borders [29.01.2007]

" ... I invite you to symbolically ring the keys once again, this time to support all the Chinese people who were not as lucky as we were seventeen years ago and who couldn’t successfully finish their own “Tiananmen Velvet Revolution”. Together, let us help all the people in concentration camps in China whom I believe we can still rescue. We can learn from history that in these issues time plays the most important role and to hesitate even a little bit might mean an irretrievable loss of human life."

Support Letter for Practitioners from the Confederation of Political Prisoners [24.01.2007]

According to reports and testimonies in domestic and foreign media, we often learn about the horrible atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party, which persecute followers of Falun Gong spiritual movement since 1999. In 2001 in Sujiatun, Shenyang city, it has allegedly established a concentration camp, where doctors harvest human organs from living bodies of prisoners of conscience and sell them to medical facilities. There are several dozens of such camps in China. We urge you, not to seek solely economic and political goals during your visits to China but to look also at the state of human rights, religious freedom and democracy.

Support Letter from Amnesty International in Czech Republic [23.01.2007]

"For some time now, Amnesty has been bringing attention to the persecution of followers of the Falun Gong movement in China and has devoted several reports to that issue. In its report, presented to the UN during the election of members for the Human Rights Council, Amnesty stated: “The suppression of Falun Gong spiritual movement intensified after February 2005. Many Falun Gong practitioners are allegedly detained and in serious danger of torture and mal-treatment.” Amnesty is also greatly alarmed by the media campaign of slander by the Chinese regime, which is apt to incite hatred against Falun Gong adherents."

Support for Rally against CCP Organ Harvesting from Director of Czech NGO The Civil Institute [22.01.2007]

"Dare we say that the Chinese regime changed in those seventeen years? Not at all. It is not an authoritarian regime, that only abuses its political power and does not force other aspects of society under its state control. It is a totalitarian regime, that does not tolerate even the smallest part to be independent of the state control. That is why even an apolitical Falun Gong spiritual movement is heartlessly persecuted, as well as the independent Christians. The Laogai prison camps are fully comparable with the Nazi concentration camps or the Soviet gulags."

September 2006

Falun Gong Task Force for Human Rights in Germany: Open Letter to the German Government, the Media and all Citizens. [15.09.2006]

"The type of suffering that the CCP has wrought on the Chinese people during its 57 year reign is indescribable: 80 million people have died unnatural deaths. Today, countless Falun Gong practitioners are kept in labour camps, prisons, hospitals ... without a legal basis and they are slaughtered for profit as part of the organ trade."

June 2006

Speech Given by the Head of the ISHR China Taskforce in Austria at the Opening Ceremony of the Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance Art Exhibition [21.06.2006]

The cultural association ARS CARA (Austrian Association for Art and Cultural Exchange in China) held an exhibition with the title Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance at a café in Vienna’s 7th district. A great number of people attended the opening ceremony on June 12th. Speakers at the ceremony were district director Blimbinger, and Leopold, head of the International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) China taskforce. Leopold's speech is reproduced below.

Friends of Falun Gong Receives Replies from VIPs about Organ Harvesting [12.06.2006]

European Friends of Falun Gong received some replies from MEPs, local councillors and Unions condemning the organ harvesting on living Falun Gong practitioners in China conducted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). European Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner replied that the Commission “will investigate the case further”. She also said “I can reassure you that, should these allegations be confirmed, the Commission would urgently address the issue with its Chinese counterpart in the most appropriate manner and in the first place in the framework of the EU-China bilateral dialogue on human rights.”

April 2006

Swiss MPs and International NGOs Condemn the Crimes of the CCP Concentration Camp [27.04.2006]

"We feel very painful whenever we hear that those who are asking for freedom of belief and speech as stated in the International Human Rights Convention are being persecuted. We are urgently requesting the international community to together call for the end of crimes against humanity and take action to rescue the 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners who are still locked up in the Concentration Camp. The free and civilized world cannot keep silent and remain completely indifferent to these horrible incidents happening right now."

WOIPFG: Investigative Report of Human Organ Harvesting from Live Abducted Falun Gong Practitioners at Sujiatun Concentration Camp (Part II) [03.04.2006]

The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) has confirmed in their investigations that the Sujiatun District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Shenyang City, also known as the Liaoning Province Thrombosis Treatment Centre of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine (the Thrombosis Hospital for short, below) had set up an unlawful crematorium to burn the bodies and destroy evidence. The existence of a huge live human organ bank in the Shenyang City area has been verified. The live harvesting of organs for transplants from unlawfully detained Falun Gong practitioners were found in not only at the Sujiatun area but also at many other places throughout Mainland China.

March 2006

European Friends of Falun Gong Write to the British Medical Association about the Chinese Concentration Camp [21.03.2006]

"News has emanated from China in recent days that the CCP is selling the body organs of Falun Gong practitioners killed in one of its detention centres, the Sujiatun Concentration Camp in Northern China, to foreign buyers. The establishment of this concentration camp is severe enough in the government’s 7-year campaign to suppress and crush those who exercise their democratic right to freedom of belief and expression by practising Falun Gong, but for the CCP to deal in the sale of their organs both in China and abroad shows a callousness and brutality beyond anything we have seen before."

WOIPFG: An Investigation Report on the Death Camp in Sujiatun, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province (Part I) [16.03.2006]

According to our initial investigation, there truly exists a large "organ market" in Sujiatun, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China. It is a systematic procedural practice, which includes building the death camp, detaining the "suppliers" (living Falun Gong practitioners), matching Falun Gong practitioners' organs with people who need them, surgically removing the organs, eliminating the victims' bodies and setting up the hospitals that use these stolen organs. Without any legal procedures, Falun Gong practitioners are taken to the Sujiatun death camp without anyone's knowledge. They are in complete isolation. Their bodies are cremated after their organs are harvested.

European Friends of Falun Gong Statement on the Sujiatun Death Camp [16.03.2006]

"We wish to register our serious concern at the news emanating from the Sujiatun Concentration Camp involving the severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and the subsequent sale of their body organs after they have died in custody. The establishment of the concentration camp is the latest in a long line of brutal activities by the CCP to suppress the Falun Gong movement in its constitutional right to freedom of belief and expression since the practice of Falun Gong was banned by the authorities in July 1999. The existence of the concentration camp would be terrible enough in itself, but for the CCP to deal in the sale of human organs represents a sinister new direction to the persecution."

WOIPFG Launches Investigation of Sujiatun Concentration Camp Authorities [13.03.2006]

The statement said that according to informants and initial verification, the Chinese Communist Party regime set up a secret concentration camp in the Sujiatun district of Shenyang city. The camp is suspected to specialise in detaining and killing practitioners to harvest their bodily organs for profit. The camp has a crematory and corpses are cremated at the camp. Reportedly, several thousand practitioners have been transferred to the camp from other regions. They are being detained in the camp and face slaughter at any time so their organs can be harvested for profit.

Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group: European Citizens Condemn the CCP Persecution of Falun Gong [09.03.2006]

Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group (FGHRWG) recently published the experiences of several practitioners who were unlawfully detained in labour camps of the Chinese Communist Party. In the electronic report, practitioner Wang Bin and Chen Ying's stories were highlighted. The report received wide feedback from all over Europe. Reprinted in this article are some of the comments made by the readers to the FGHRWG Web site.

Danish Human Rights Organisation Asks the Danish Government to Support the Relay Hunger Strike in China [07.03.2006]

The hunger strike was initiated by the famous human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng, who is known for his untiring struggle for the persecuted in China. Most commentators today deny China’s claims that the human rights situation in China is improving—in reality it has become much worse in recent years. For a long time the world has stood passively by as Communist China has persecuted large sections of its population, like Falun Gong, Christians and Buddhists. Gao Zhisheng himself recently commented: “When the Nazis slaughtered the Jews, they were condemned by the world. But the Communist Party has killed more than eighty million people, thirteen times more than the number of Jews and the world says nothing.”

February 2006

European Friends of Falun Gong Speech about CCP Violence Outside China [14.02.2006]

We wish to bring to your attention the recent act of violence and burglary carried out against Falun Gong practitioner Dr Peter Li Yuan in the name of the Chinese government and Chinese Communist Party. This event appears to be part of a worldwide campaign by the Chinese authorities to intimidate and undermine the Falun Gong movement, the exportation of their own brand of persecution abroad, a persecution which has so far caused the deaths in custody of nearly 3,000 practitioners in China, while many more thousands languish in prisons and labour camps with little hope of release.

January 2006

European Friends of Falun Gong Highlight the Recent Assault Opposite the London Chinese Embassy [30.01.2006]

"We hope that the perpetrator of this attack will be brought to justice by the due course of the law of the land. He will of course be afforded a fair trial, all the evidence will be fully considered before any conviction. That is the way it should be. Contrast this with the way Falun Gong practitioners in China have been dealt with, tortured to death and locked away in prisons and labour camps with little chance of release, and certainly with no fair trial."

December 2005

Letter to the Argentinean Ambassador in UK from European Friends of Falun Gong [19.12.2005]

"It is our belief that the non-intervention of the police was under instruction from Chinese officials. Wednesday's assault fits into a disturbing pattern of violence, intimidation, and human rights violations in connection with visits by Chinese officials around the world over the last three to four years. It appears that in each case Chinese authorities have used economic and political clout to pressure host-country governments into assisting them in the subjugation of Falun Gong practitioners and their supporters, often with the use of violence or arrest."

European Friends of Falun Gong Writes to the Thailand Ambassador in UK [15.12.2005]

"We wish to express our deep concern the recent Thai police harassment of Falun Gong practitioners during a peaceful protest in front of the Chinese embassy in Bangkok, which was held to protest against Chinese police brutality...We hope that Thailand will not succumb to the intimidation and pressure put on it by the CCP to contribute towards the persecution of Falun Gong. We urge you to try to convince your government that they should stop the harassment of Falun Gong practitioners and stop yielding to the CCP’s pressure, which is a serious compromise of Thailand’s fundamental moral and political principles."

November 2005

Sweden: Lerum’s Socialdemokratiska Arbetarekommun Condemns the Torture which Led to the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Gao Rongrong, and Hopes for Democracy in China [18.11.2005]

"... we receive reports about the persecution, incarcerations and torture, which has led to deaths of Falun Gong practitioners. An example of this is Gao Rongrong from Shenyang, who died on the 12th of June, 2005 by torture and exhaustion. This is against the UN’s convention on human rights. We condemn the torture which led to the death of Gao Rongrong and demand that those involved are held responsible for this and similar crimes."

European Friends of Falun Gong Writes to UK Prime Minister Before Visit of CCP Leader [04.11.2005]

"It is important that Mr Hu realizes that the UK respects justice, democracy and supports human rights and that this is the underpinning to sustain long-term stability and prosperity in our trade and economic partnership with China. We believe the UK’s responsibility is clear and our voice is critical in bringing an end to the systemic persecution in China. The UK must act according to international human rights agreements, otherwise the UK is sending a message that it condones genocide and human rights violations."

September 2005

European Friends of Falun Gong Writes to the UK Prime Minister [05.09.2005]

"In view of your forthcoming visit to China to hold talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao next week, we wish to draw to your attention the plight of the millions of Falun Gong practitioners who have suffered at the hands of the Chinese authorities since the practice of Falun Gong was outlawed by former President Jiang Zemin in July 1999. Since then nearly 3,000 practitioners have died in custody as the result of torture by a leadership which is inextricably linked to the Chinese Communist Party."

August 2005

Speech by European Friends of Falun Gong about the Chinese Communist Party’s Persecution Against the Practice [30.08.2005]

"Since the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese government began in July 1999 the world has gradually become more and more aware of the terrible acts of torture and murder they have carried out. In recent months however, since the publication of the ‘Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party’ by The Epoch Times in November last year, we have come to learn that the persecution is inextricably conducted by the Chinese Communist Party itself, the mechanism by which the major players in Chinese politics have gained their power and authority."

France: President of the French Falun Gong Association Spoke at the Prayer Meeting of Asian Democracy and Peace [19.08.2005]

So we will continue to expose and condemn the crimes committed by Jiang and the CCP. We have to be aware that all the CCP is capable of is lies and violence. When people who are deceived by it know its evil history, they will no longer be cheated. More and more people stand out to expose its crimes, and more and more people yearn for peace.

July 2005

United Kingdom: The “Saying Good-Bye to the CCP” Alliance Attracted a Lot of Attention during the G8 Summit [21.07.2005]

This year’s G8 summit in Edinburgh attracted international attention because the summit was to discuss the issue of world poverty. Before the summit, over 22,000 people attended the “Make Poverty History” parade. Among many protest groups, the “Saying Good-Bye to the CCP” Alliance attracted special attention.

France: Speech Delivered In Paris On Behalf of Germany's International Society for Human Rights [18.07.2005]

Recently the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) celebrated its 84th birthday. It is a shame to humanity that in the 21st Century a party is celebrating 84 years of killing, cheating, deception, brainwashing and physical and mental torture. Since the CCP took power in China 80 million abnormal deaths have occurred as a direct result of its tyranny.

Spain: Amnesty International Expresses Support for Falun Gong Practitioners [10.07.2005]

On U.N. International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, petition signature collections were held in the Canary Islands by Amnesty International to support victims of torture and to expose those who are responsible for the torture according to law. The activity aimed at raising people’s awareness of the cruel persecutions happening in the world and ending these persecutions as soon as possible.

Letter to the UK Prime Minister from European Friends of Falun Gong [03.07.2005]

We wish to draw your attention to the serious situation of human rights abuse in China, and in particular to the plight of Falun Gong practitioners who have suffered the severest persecution at the hands of the Chinese Government since former President Jiang Zemin’s crackdown of the movement in July 1999. Approximately 2,500 practitioners have been tortured to death by the Chinese authorities and thousands more still languish in prisons and labour camps across the country with little hope of release.

June 2005

Sweden: The Voice of Medborgarplatsen in the Capital of Sweden: The CCP is Doomed to Collapse [26.06.2005]

On June 11th, more than five hundred people, consisting of both Chinese and Caucasians from all over Europe, gathered at Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm so as to participate in a large-scale rally support the significant trend of quitting the CCP. Over fifty human right organisations and other non-governmental organisations expressed their support for the activity.

European Friends of Falun Gong Speech at a London Press Conference [19.06.2005]

The defection of the three Chinese diplomats to Australia within the last 2 weeks is a clear sign that the stranglehold of the Chinese Communist Party on its people is beginning to weaken...A common theme of all three’s explanation for their defection was their unwillingness to work any longer for the CCP or to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong. They have also been able to recount details of the methods of the persecution used by the Chinese Government since 1999, indeed Hao Fengiun actually worked for the infamous 6-10 Office which is directly responsible for monitoring Falun Gong.

European Friends of Falun Gong Submits a List of Chinese Communist Party Criminals to the UK Home Office [04.06.2005]

European Friends of Falun Gong points out in the letter to the Home Office that the members of EFOFG are not Falun Gong practitioners; they are supporters of Falun Gong practitioners’ freedom of belief and basic human rights. In the last 6 six years, the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has violated the International Human Rights Convention which China has signed. The CCP has also gone against the rules of nature in its widespread destruction of the lives of so many innocent people and the CCP’s crimes are crimes against humanity.

May 2005

Amnesty International's Annual Report Criticises the Continuous Persecution of Falun Gong in China [30.05.2005]

"The Falun Gong spiritual movement remained a key target of repression, which reportedly included many arbitrary detentions. Most of those detained were assigned to periods of "re-education through Labour" without charge or trial, during which they were at high risk of torture or ill-treatment, particularly if they refused to renounce their beliefs. Others were held in prisons and psychiatric hospitals. According to overseas Falun Gong sources, more than 1,000 people detained in connection with the Falun Gong had died since the organisation was banned in 1999, mostly as a result of torture or ill-treatment."

"European Friends of Falun Gong" Organisation Writes to Malaysian High Commissioner [23.05.2005]

As you are no doubt aware, over 2,300 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death since China’s ban on Falun Gong in 1999, and many more thousands languish in prisons and labour camps across the country merely for exercising their constitutional right to freedom of speech and belief. For the Malaysian government to ignore the threat of further torture for Ms. Lin would be an act of extreme inhumanity and would show up Malaysia in a very negative way to the rest of the world.

Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group Lodges Complaint with UN Against Singapore for Issuing Unjust Verdict [06.05.2005]

The organization Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group lodged a complaint against Singapore with the United Nations on April 29th 2005, over the case in which the Singapore police violated the basic human rights of two Falun Gong practitioners and the court issued an unfair verdict. Singapore, as a member of the United Nations, should respect and observe the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Letter to the Singapore High Commissioner to UK from Non-governmental Organisation "European Friends of Falun Gong" [05.05.2005]

We wish to express our extreme concern at the unjustly harsh treatment of Falun Gong practitioners Cheng Lujin and Ng Chye Huay by the Singapore authorities following their recent convictions for ‘Assembling without a permit’ and ‘Possessing and mailing out uncertified VCDs’ in February 2003 in Esplanade Park, Singapore. The pair had since been held in custody pending trial and were convicted on April 27th 2005. Both practitioners appealed against the convictions and were given excessive fines of $20,000 and $24,000 respectively by a court in Singapore.

A Petition from the International Society for Human Rights Calls for Immediate Action to Rescue Jiang Renzheng [04.05.2005]

On April 9th 2005, Mr. Renzheng was sentenced without trial to three years of forced labour, to be served in a forced labour camp in Benxi City. He was sentenced because he practises Falun Gong and he was charged with “Endangering public security.” Since July 20th 1999, the day when the PRC began the persecution of Falun Gong, more than 100,000 people have been detained. As of April 2005, we are aware of 1,583 verifiable deaths due to torture while held in China’s forced labour camps, police stations and psychiatric clinics. The International Society for Human Right (ISHR) demands the immediate release of Jiang Renzheng.

April 2005

Speech from the Vice-Chairman of “European Friends of Falun Gong” at a Press Conference to Commemmorate April 25th [25.04.2005]

Six years ago, on the 25th April 1999, 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners appealed to the Chinese government against the curbing of their basic human rights by gathering in a peaceful protest in Beijing. As a result the Chinese government, under the leadership of then President Jiang Zemin, began its brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. We know that so far at least 1,880 practitioners have died as a result of torture of one form or another at the hands of the authorities since then, while many thousands more still languish in prisons and labour camps throughout the country, unsure of their eventual fate.
