He was a bit embarrassed and replied, "We have orders from above to punish those who do not give up Falun Gong. We also ask drug addicts or prostitutes to torture Falun Gong practitioners. If they do well, then they can get reduction in their sentences; otherwise, their terms may be extended. This way, those criminals have a great incentive to persecute Falun Gong."

We heard the shocking news that the Party is premiering a TV series called Life is Innocent, to slander Falun Gong and to whitewash the persecution taking place in labour camps. We, a few of the tens of thousands of practitioners who were illegally detained at Beijing Female Labour Camp, the former Tiantanghe Labuor Camp or Xinan Labour Camp, can attest that the people who made the TV program are fabricating facts. Here we just want to tell the truth about life at the Beijing Female Labour Camp.

Meiqing's parents cried and said: "The child is not easy to take care of. He does not study hard. We are too old. What can we do if he is sick?" Xu Meiqing went forward and hugged her son. Her tears streamed down. Just because of her steadfast belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," Meiqing was imprisoned, suffered from torture, and was unable to take care of her elderly parents and young active child. Whose fault was it that her family experienced such persecution and hardship?

This First Female Labour Camp is still illegally detaining two to three hundred Dafa practitioners. All of them, no matter old or young, healthy or weak, were all required to work daily in three shifts in the workshop. They didn't stop until 10:00 p.m., sometimes extended to 11:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. In the morning, they were allowed only five minutes for toileting and washing. Around 9:00 a.m., all in each were in turn allowed to go to the toilet and also drink some water.

Right after she spoke, the policemen viciously dragged her down from the stage and out of the meeting place along the ground. As the Falun Gong practitioners stood up one after another, the policemen panicked and shouted, "Sit down; be seated immediately!" The inmates also moved to block the practitioners' mouths and hold them down.

Falun Gong practitioners are forced to work up to 15 hours every day and fed only with low quality food. Occasionally the quality of the food improves, but this is only the case when people come to inspect the labour camp or when news reporters come for interviews. When those people arrive, the practitioners who courageously speak out to expose the evildoers in the camp are taken away and closely supervised, while a few carefully chosen former practitioners who turned against Dafa under torture are allowed to go out and sing praises of the labour camp.

Police who tortured practitioners boastfully declared: "It is the people above who want us to do this. If you people die, we are not responsible according to the law." Sanshui Labour Camp Education Director Ye Xiujia said, "We are not doing anything illegal and you all can sue." In December, the most ruthless person who tortured practitioners was Lu Jinhu. This person had a wicked heart and was very rough. He used to hit Wang Bin and say: "I don't need to treat you as a human."

As soon as the impetus of SARS weakened, the police returned to their former patterns of wrongdoing and began rampantly persecuting Dafa again. Some even challenged Dafa practitioners in a weird tone. Now they have started a new round of persecution. The patrol resumed; working hours have gone back to normal; extended brainwashing hours have resumed. Some even said that SARS did not cause large scale deaths and used this as a tool to threaten Dafa practitioners. Right now, determined Dafa practitioners are still harassed and persecuted in various ways.

The law stipulates that labour camps should not accept people older than 50 years. However, in order to persecute Falun Gong practitioners and force them to renounce their beliefs, officials detained many elderly Falun Gong practitioners for prolonged periods of time and intensively tortured them both physically and mentally.

Since July 20, 1999, Jiang's rogue regime has decimated the families of Dafa practitioners. The police tried to intimidate Tan Xiuying and told her that if she didn't stop practising Falun Dafa, she and her husband would be laid off, and their son wouldn't be able to go to college. Under such pressure, Tan Xiuying did not waver, but her husband was forced to divorce her in order to maintain his ability to make a living.

She was locked in a dark room (the window of the door was covered with a thick layer of newspapers) and cruelly tortured. At noon one day, a scream suddenly came from the dark room when Zhang kicked He Hua's ribs of so hard that she couldn't bear it. The sudden scream scared a weakened practitioner, Ms. Qi, such that she had a mental breakdown and had to be taken to the hospital.

The police took determined Falun Gong practitioners individually to "teaching" buildings, hospitals, and other buildings outside which were so-called "Education Schools with Law," labour camp offices, etc. to brainwash practitioners. The means they used included sleep deprivation for several days and nights, handcuffing, torturing with electric batons, beating, cursing and not allowing practitioners to use the toilet, etc.

At that time my legs, chest, and hands were infected, but the camp still forced us to perform slave labour. Camp police arranged for me to pack chopsticks into paper envelopes or make vegetarian shish kebabs. In the food processing plant, many detained practitioners got scabies, and some even had yellowish pus oozing out of the blisters on their fingers. Without the use of gloves, the pus contaminated the food and the chopsticks.

In this labour camp, the police often tortured Qian Fajun and Liu Jinhui. Policemen Li Gongming, Yue Linzhen, and Yang Peng beat them, and forced them into a cell where they were constantly monitored during the night. These vicious policemen beat the practitioners' chests with their fists until they were tired. They also handcuffed the practitioners with two sets of handcuffs and barbarically hung them on a cross. The practitioners were deprived of sleep for 4 days and nights. The practitioners' limbs were swollen and they were unable to grab onto anything or walk.

This labour camp mainly processes and sews quilts for the Lider General Corporation Ltd. in Changyi, Weifang City. The quilts are for export to more than ten countries, including Japan and South Korea. The labour camp forces practitioners to put name-brand labels on the quilts such as "Beijing Jiangyaling" and "Shuanghe."

In 2002, after disappearing for quite a while, Zhang Yijie, a very dedicated practitioner finally reappeared. However, a large area of her body was badly bruised. A large portion of her face was dark purple and swollen. Her eyes were swollen shut. Prison police and some collaborators shamelessly yelled, "She has done plastic surgery on herself!"

The camp conducted a frenzied persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Miserable cries from practitioners and the sound of electric shocks were heard throughout the camp all day long. The camp's Director Meng, Management Section Chief, Zheng Hailing, Education Team Instructor Gao Ke, Logistics Section Chief Lin, secretary Zhao Jiusheng, Police Team Leader Zhao Fengshan, Guo Yiping and Tang Bo were all malicious and used cruel methods to torture practitioners.

Practitioner Jiang Guilin from Jilin Province had a heartbeat of 260 beats per minute, but the authorities still refused to release him, and still forced him to do hard labour. It was learned that recently six Dafa practitioners attempted to escape while performing labour, but they didn't succeed. After they were caught and sent back, their sentences were extended, and they received barbaric electric shock torture.

The next day, Political Instructor Xiao ordered two "assistants" to drag Cao into the courtyard. Cao' body was covered in wounds; the blood and mud mixed together and covered his whole body. The following day in the hospital he had to have 13 stitches. It took over a day to revive him. A police officer announced that Cao' sentence would be extended two months because his "behaviour is not good and he refuses to be reformed." Cao' sentence has been extended for a total of 11 months.

On April 12, 2001, five Falun Gong practitioners began a hunger strike to protest the cruel torture. The policemen, having lost all shred of human conscience, responded by force-feeding the practitioners with faeces, which caused them serious stomach infections, high fevers of 104 degrees and low blood pressure, placing their lives in great danger. Since the beginning of 2003, the camp has made the force-feeding worse and worse. Each day they force-feed the practitioners twice and have increased the amount for each session. The practitioners constantly suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea.

These police, together with the 2nd Women's Labour Camp of Shandong Province knowingly violated the international regulations for export products. They knew that the Changhong and Haier television set brands were for export [note: prison labour is internationally unacceptable for exported products], but they still forced the practitioners in the camp to make the television coils for these plants.

She has paraplegia [paralysis of the lower half of the body] and cannot work at all. She has been illegally detained in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. As indicated by the camp's name, one of the criteria for being detained there is the ability to perform manual labour. However, the Masanjia Woman's Second Centre (also known as the Liaoning Province Thought Education School) has been illegally detaining many female Falun Dafa practitioners who are completely unable to perform labour.

To deceive international human rights and other organisations, the authorities have renamed the Masanjia Labour Camp the "Ideology Training School of Liaoning Province." In the so-called school, more than 40 small cells are used for torture. Every small cell on the third floor is equipped with specially cast iron moulds, which are used to restrain the victim's body and limbs during torture.

Twenty-four people were held in a cell that only had 6 bunk beds. (It is common for labour camps to assign one bed to eight detainees.) Sometimes there were more than 24 people in the cell and some had to sleep on the floor. A toilet bucket, without cover, served all the people in this room. The smell from the bucket and sweat mixed together was gruesome. There were many flies, mosquito and bedbugs.

The so-called "Leifeng Tower" in Xishanping Forced Labour Camp is a dark place of about two square meters (about 20 square feet) that includes two rooms with no sunlight, only ghastly darkness. A stone slab in one of the rooms constitutes a bed while the other room contains no furniture at all. Human excrement is visible everywhere, since there is no toilet. In addition, because rats and snakes have infested the place, rotting animal corpses give off an unbearable stench.

Here, we once again remind the general public and police officers that "good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil." Please pay serious attention to the various warnings that have come in recent years, such as the natural disasters and the current SARS epidemic. Please listen carefully to the facts that Falun Dafa practitioners tell you so that you may give yourself and your family a chance to judge right from wrong and good from evil in the future.

In order to cover up the massive number of Dafa practitioners illegally detained there and how bad the living conditions were, the labour camp police removed most of the detainees. About five to six hundred were shipped to a nearby junior labour Camp's cafeteria by bus, leaving only the detainees who agreed to cooperate with the labour camp and lie to the reporters during their visit.

In the Masanjia camp, many Falun Dafa practitioners are being driven to mental collapse under torture and brutal psychological brainwashing. We have heard them screaming in pain from time to time...To the people of the world with global social conscience and a sense of justice: Together let's stop Jiang and his regime's cruel persecution of innocent, kindhearted people who stand strong for "Truthfulness -- Compassion -- Forbearance."

Because of this, the chief of the guards, Chen Lanying, (female, about 30, one of the prime perpetrators) directed male policemen and security guards to drag Zhang into the torture chamber, located in the camps' office building. They broke Zhang's legs during the beating and tied her tightly with thin ropes that cut into her flesh. In the scorching summer, Zhang Hanwen became bedridden due to the torture, for several months, however, the miraculous power of Falun Dafa made it possible for her stand up again.

They shocked her by forcing a long electric baton into her mouth. The shocking completely blistered her mouth. She had extreme difficulty eating and talking. Her head appeared injured and her face was swollen. She could not even open her eyes because of the swelling. Her body was covered with blood. The guards beat her while sitting on her body. They forced her head down and forced a two-inch long needle into her palm, the soles of her feet, and different parts of her body.

The police asked her, "Why have you gone on a hunger strike?" She said: "I didn't break the law, so I shouldn't be locked in here. I will eat only if you let me go home. I was kidnapped because of my belief in Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. The rogue (former leader Jiang Zemin) in power is breaking the law in enforcing this action and is depriving people of their human rights and freedom of belief. This is my silent protest.

Some practitioners were forced to squat for 10 hours daily for over 3 months. Some practitioners were even forced to stand still for 17 hours daily for more than 4 months. Some practitioners were tortured with sleep deprivation for 5 days. Some practitioners were kept from taking showers for over a month in the hot and humid summer. One practitioner was handcuffed and hung up with only her toes touching the ground for 17 hours daily for over 100 days, and was even handcuffed to the bed while sleeping.

The guards stripped off his clothing and knocked him to the ground with a rope tied tightly around his mouth and head...They then used six electric batons on the sensitive points of his body. They tortured him this way from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Only a little portion of his skin was left unharmed due to the high voltage electricity of the batons, which smelled of badly burnt flesh. The tight string cut 5cm (about 2 inches) into both corners of his mouth, and he was left unable to eat.

The prison guards told them, "No matter what crimes are committed against determined Dafa practitioners, it is all acceptable. If they die due to the torture, you can say it was because they were born with a lot of karma [Note: this is a distortion of spiritual principles in order to coerce collaborators to assist in the persecution and absolve them of responsibility]."

"I am making a silent appeal. We were force fed, then forced to go to the hospital. You think about it, who is persecuting the good people in the great land of China? Who is breaking up millions of happy families? Who has used foreign investments to build labour camps, detention centres and brainwashing centres, and then used them exclusively to persecute good people?!" The police could not answer her at all.

I found out later that because officer Xia was very angry with them for not being able to brainwash me, the prisoners were punched and kicked and had their merit grades deducted--that is why they vented their anger on me. The head of the prisoners, Zhao Qingliang, yelled furiously, "I have transformed [brainwashed] dozens of people (I got to know later, it was just a few people). Nobody can escape."

A captain from one group wrote something on a piece of paper cursing Teacher and forced me to wear that piece of paper. He said, "Don't even think about taking it off if you don't write the 'guarantee letters'." Then they sent me to a brainwashing class. They continued to try to force me to swear at Falun Dafa and at Teacher. I refused. Seeing that I wouldn't give in, they cuffed me to the heating pipes in an office and made me stand there, absolutely still.

In September 2000, police went to my daughter's school to threaten her. Police asked her principal and teachers to force her to give up Falun Gong, otherwise she wouldn't be allowed to go to school. The principle didn't co-operate with the police because my daughter is considered to be a good student.

Still not satisfied, policeman Wu Baoyun hit Yang Xiuli's face, head and body randomly with a mop soaked with urine. The inhumane Li Ming pinched Yang between the legs, and then grabbing Yang by the hair, banged her head on a radiator. The painful crying and the hatchet men's cursing and sneering filled the cell. It was truly a hell on earth.

Feng Yulin, a drug addict, was about to beat her. When Yang saw him come toward her, she quickly rushed out the door and cried, "Help! They're going to beat me!" The team guard on duty in the courtyard only turned around to take a look, and kept on walking as if nothing had happened. Yang's cries for help reverberated in the quadrangle but got no response.

The policeman Wu Hongxun requestd a doctor from the police unit check whether she was conscious. He said, "It's ok that she is still breathing, even if she dies, it's fine." He tied her to the steel chair with her head drooped over. He thought she was pretending to be unconscious so he used a rope and tied her head to the chair.

I could hear them scream painfully. The vicious guards not only participated in the beating, but also ordered the criminal inmates to beat the practitioners. A woman in her 50's who refused to give up her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance was also handcuffed behind her back and then hung up on a doorframe. The guards kept swinging her body, and she was in extreme pain.

Certain lawless individuals from Liaoyuan Forced Labour Camp used deception to manipulate officials above and control officials below. They employed the cruelest means of torture against Dafa practitioners in order to please the "higher ups," all for the sake of their self interest, attempting to make us give up our cultivation.

The police pay much attention to the so-called "transformation," trying hard to force practitioners to give up their practice of Dafa. Police are promised 10,000 to 30,000 Yuan [the average monthly income in China is about 500 Yuan] for each practitioner who renounces Dafa. For prisoners, they are promised a reduction of term anywhere between 20 days and 3 months.

Two nights later, Xinmin was called in again. She came back at midnight with black and blue marks all over her whole body from an electric baton. On top of that, they took turns attacking her. Xinmin started to show abnormal behaviour, sometimes crying and sometimes smiling. Even under such conditions, they still said she was pretending and continued to beat her and torture her.

Cruel officer Li Qi covered their mouths with three layers of wide bandages and then handcuffed Peng Shiqiong to a tree beside the front door, with only her toes touching the ground. Under Li Qi's instruction, all the common prisoners rushed over and kicked and beat her. Officer Li Qi said while beating her, "If I beat you to death, the worst thing that can happen to me is that I will no longer be a police officer."

From June 6 to June 8, the police exhausted all means attempting to force me to provide them information about other practitioners and the sources of truth-clarifying materials. Because I refused to tell them, they forcibly inserted a mop handle into my private parts, beat the soles of my feet, pulled my hair and slammed my face, they even shocked me with electric batons after they poured water all over my body.

Criminal jail guards including Zhang Fusheng tortured Yu Nanying on his private parts with electric batons. Each shock session lasted 20 to 30 minutes, causing permanent genital pain. Dong Liyong shocked Yu Nanying on the head with electric batons. While shocking him, he asked: "do you still practise or not?"

Falun Gong practitioners tortured to death there are sent for immediate cremation without ever being seen by their family members. The perpetrators find a few criminals to be false witnesses by saying that the deaths were caused by heart disease or some other untruthful reason. They hand in the falsified death reports to higher authorities, who do nothing to check up on the reports and simply rush through death certificates based on the falsified records.

Unit leader Wang Zhibin would say to the others from time to time, "It would be easier if we could just bury them all alive." Under his orders, they have used handcuffs, shackles, electric batons, spiked-clubs, and other things to torture the peaceful practitioners.
