My Ordeal at the Suihua Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province [05.02.2008]

Xu Yushan was arrested when police found Falun Gong books in his possession. He was severely tortured in a forced labour camp. He recounts, "After they confirmed my stance toward Falun Gong the guards said, It seems you are not afraid of death. We will not let you die, but will make you live in a state worse than death. We just want to play with you. When we are tired of playing we will make you completely disabled. Then we let you go home and die at home several days later.'"

Vicious "Reform" Methods Used at the Women's Forced Labour Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province [04.02.2008]

The prison guards would interrogate the practitioners, while a gang of "collaborators" would threaten the practitioners and force them to wear the prison uniform and name tags. They also try to convince the practitioners that they had broken the law and admit guilt. They would also bring in prisoners to monitor the practitioners. The prisoners are charged with subjecting the practitioners to sleep deprivation, denying them the chance to go to the toilet or drink water, and forcing them to stand for long periods of time. The practitioners often stage persecution-protest hunger strikes, but they are then force-fed and beaten by the guards.

Persecution at the Tumuji Forced Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia [03.02.2008]

Former Tongliao Elementary School teacher Ms. Wang Ying, Ms. Wan Xiuying's daughter, was tortured by being hung up by the handcuffs, beaten with clubs, shocked with two high-voltage electric batons, and beaten by multiple people simultaneously. She was eventually crippled by the abuse she suffered. A CT scan indicated that she had contracted myocarditis, and the torture she suffered also resulted in her loss of hearing. She was released only when she was on the verge of death, even though she had been crippled for a long period of time.

Chongqing Women's Labour Camp Trains Prisoners to Violently Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners [02.02.2008]

In the first half of 2007, the Chongqing Women's Labour Camp trained "personal monitors" (drug addicts assigned to persecute Falun Gong practitioners) in techniques for choking practitioners and striking practitioners' heads with their fists. The camp authorities even tested the criminal inmates on this training. When all else is quiet at night, one can always hear noise from the beatings in the labour camp. Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Fengxia (about 30 years old) could not speak for a couple of months after being beaten. Her facial expression was very stiff and awkward. Although she can talk now, her speech is very slow and slurred.

The Persecution in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp [01.02.2008]

Under orders from Warden Wang Kai, inmates tortured practitioners in their cells: they beat practitioners with a wooden bed board and hit their faces with slippers. Liu Jingzhou's face got swollen and disfigured from this treatment. Zhang Fa, a 60-year-old practitioner, had an attack of high blood pressure as a result of the torture. Gu Qingsong's leg was broken. One practitioner was beaten until he fell to the floor, but the inmates wouldn't stop abusing him, saying that he was faking. Gong Wenyi was forced to sit on an Iron Chair for 14 days while he was on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp Unjustly Detains Over 150 Falun Gong Practitioners [31.01.2008]

The Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp is still holding over 150 female Falun Gong practitioners. It's been reported that Falun Gong practitioner Liu Qiaozhen has been on a hunger strike for over three months and is now critically ill. Practitioner Qiu Liying attended a trial hearing for practitioner Li Qiumin on September 26th, 2007. Qiu Liying was taken to the Hebei Province Brainwashing Centre the next work day, transferred to a labour camp after ten days, sentenced to one year of forced labour, and she is currently detained in Brigade No. 1 of the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp.

Crimes Against Older Falun Dafa Practitioners in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp [30.01.2008]

For many years, the No. 4 Team of Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province has been the place where older Falun Dafa practitioners are persecuted. I am in my 60s. Around March 20th, 2006, I was ordered to take a blood test. I was thinking then that I was not a sick person since I'm a practitioner. I knew I didn't need that blood test. Besides, a blood test does not require that big an amount of blood. I thought, isn't this another disguised way to persecute us? Also, when we were first arrested and sent to the forced labour camp, we already had a thorough physical examination and blood work. I told them, "I'm very healthy and I don't need that test." Six policemen pushed me to the ground. They stepped on me. Some twisted my arms. Some stepped on my back, and I couldn't breath because of this. They striped my clothes off of my arm and took my blood by force.

Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp [04.01.2008]

Mr. Cao Yuguo was sentenced to four and a half years in jail for practising Falun Gong. After being released, he worked as a taxi driver. Eventually he was reported for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. In 2006 he was sentenced to two years in a forced labour camp. Mr. Cao upheld his belief and refused to be "transformed." He was not swayed by sleep deprivation inflicted by the deputy group leader, Wang Xinjiang. In fact, he tried to explain the truth about Falun Gong to Wang. Wang was infuriated and punched Mr. Cao in the face about five or six times.

December 2007

Shameful Practice at Shijiazhuang City Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province [30.12.2007]

Recently, two to three practitioners were taken to the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labour Camp each day. There are numerous reports of guards brutally tormenting the detainees. Usually, visitors only need to bring documents provided by their local governments to verify their identities, but the guards here put a thick stack of slanderous flyers defaming the founder of Falun Gong by the entrance. Anyone that goes to visit Falun Gong practitioners is forced to read it out loud. If their voice is low, they have to repeat this several times until the guards are satisfied. After reading it, they have to sign their names on it before they are allowed in.

The Persecution of Mr. Guo Shunqiang in Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp [28.12.2007]

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Shunqiang from Haidian District, Beijing was arrested at home by police on April 20th, 2006. He was then sent to Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp. In order to "transform" him, the labour camp police lock Mr. Guo Shunqiang in a single cell where he is allowed to sleep only 3 to 4 hours every night. The inmates, incited by the guards, verbally abuse him and beat him every day. They force him to sit on a small stool specially designed for a child, which is only six inches tall. They tie his legs and feet together, resulting in his upper and lower legs being forced to bend to less than 90 degrees. His hands are forced to be held on his knees and his back is forced to remain straight. He is then forced to stay in this motionless posture for long periods of time and is forbidden to move any part of his body. If he moves, the inmates will beat him and verbally abuse him.

Tortures Currently Taking Place at the No. 5 Division of Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province [25.12.2007]

Officials at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp pretend to promote a so-called "division in harmony," while actually escalating the persecution against practitioners. Wang Kai (male), the division head, has ordered arbitrary body searches. He has also instigated other inmates to give practitioners a hard time and ordered labour camp guards to torture practitioners with electric-shock batons. On June 24th, 2007, Wang Kai, head of the No. 5 Division, tortured practitioner Mr. Liu Jingzhou with an electric baton, locked practitioner Mr. Gong Wenyi in a "small cell" and tied him to an "iron chair", and tortured practitioner Mr. Lang Xianguo with an electric baton while he was chained to an iron chair.

Xinkaipu Forced Labour Camp: Conditions the International Community Cannot Imagine [25.12.2007]

Practitioners being held in Xinkaipu Forced Labour Camp make various commercial products. The camp workshops are full of dust and rubbish. The conditions are unsanitary and not suitable for any kind of production. However, food wrappers are made here, including those used for ready-to-eat food. Some criminal (non-practitioner) inmates even intentionally put mucus and faeces on the wrappers to vent their grievances. Guard Wu Bin admitted that this kind of illegal profit-making couldn't happen in Western countries, and is unimaginable to the international community. The cruelty that goes on inside is also not found in any other civilised society. The camp doctors act like they are treating animals, and the guards are killing machines.

The Persecution of Practitioner Li Ruixia at Harbin Women's Forced Labour Camp for Drug Addicts [24.12.2007]

The labour camp forced practitioners to work extremely long hours. The worst case was when they were ordered to work in the basement mending flax cloth. They worked 14-15 hours a day for a month. Some practitioners were so tired that their eyes would not stop watering. The ventilation in the basement was very bad. In the hottest summer days, the practitioners felt suffocated and had difficulty breathing, and they asked the guard to let them take a break. The guard asked the supervisor but was refused. A while later, the guard himself felt dizzy, nauseous, and short of breath, and complained that he could not hold on anymore. Only then did the supervisor let them take a break. Aside from mending flax cloth, the practitioners also sorted leaves, chopsticks, toothpicks, and had to make handicrafts. Sometimes they had to work through the night.

Elderly Dafa Practitioner Fan Juncao's Excruciating Persecution in Gansu Forced Labour Camp [21.12.2007]

Ms. Fan Juncao, 65, persistently practises Falun Gong, follows the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," and exposes the persecution, and therefore she has been sentenced to forced labour twice in 2000 and 2005 by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials. In June 2006, Ms. Fan Juncao was sent to a small cell because she did the Falun Gong exercises while in the labour camp. Guards handcuffed her to a steel bed frame in such a way that she was suspended with the tips of her toes touching the ground. After five days of this torture, her wrists were bleeding and she was in a daze. An inmate found her like this and called the head guard Wang. They let her down just long enough for her to regain consciousness and then hung her up again.

Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp Officials Accuse Practitioners of Being "Unpatriotic" and Use It as Excuse for Torture [16.12.2007]

In 2001, China successfully landed the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games. Chinese officials promised better human rights as a condition for the bid, and then turned around to use it as a tool for justifying its persecution and suppression. I was imprisoned in Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp. Guard Yue Qingjin shouted at me, "You are against the bid for the Olympics. You don't love your country and resist transformation. Even if we kill you, we'll claim that you committed suicide." Several guards put me on a cotton quilt and tied my four limbs down with strips of fabric. They yanked the strips in four different directions, which caused terrible pain. They shocked me with electric batons, shouted at me and ordered me to give up my belief. When they saw that I was about to faint, they stopped and force-fed me with some water.

Additional Information on the Persecution of Yu Ming at Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing [16.12.2007]

Mr. Yu Ming, a Falun Gong practitioner, is currently detained at Masanjia Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. In order to force him to give up his belief in Falun Gong, he was tortured at Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing in 2006, including being tied to a chair for three months, resulting in muscular atrophy all over his body and other severe physical damage. The guards in Beijing were unable to shake Yu's strong belief. They transferred Yu to Masanjia Labour Camp in Liaoning Province on May 21st, 2007. Because Yu's health was so severely damaged at Tuanhe Labour Camp he was transferred to the Masanjia Labour Camp Hospital after just a few days. He remains there today.

Recent Cases of Persecution in Handan Forced Labour Camp, Hebei Province [16.12.2007]

On October 24th, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Daping went to the wash room without reporting to the labour camp guards. Wang Zhiming (male), the political instructor of the Specially Controlled Division, viciously struck Mr. Gu with a rubber club several dozen times. On October 15th, 2007, Mr. Li Qiusheng and Mr. Xu Kai were ordered to remain standing for a long period of time. Two weeks or so later, they were ordered to stand from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and subjected to sleep deprivation. Mr. Li's legs are badly swollen as a result. Zuo Tao, a labour camp division head, has viciously beaten numerous practitioners on the grounds that they did not write statements renouncing Falun Gong.

Falun Gong Practitioners Subjected to Torture at the Suihua Forced Labour Camp, Heilongjiang Province [14.12.2007]

In August 2007, in the No. 2 Division, practitioner Mr. Xu Yushan was on a hunger strike for over 10 days to protest the brutal treatment. In the beginning, the guards threatened, cursed, beat, and force-fed him. Afterwards, other guards to tortured Mr. Xu with the so-called "big hang up" method. They used tape to fasten a radio on top of his head, turned the radio to the highest volume, inserted earphones into his ears, and wrapped them tightly with the tape. They used cigarettes to burn his fingernails and electric batons to shock and beat him. Even after a whole day's torture, Xu Yushan did not give up. They then applied white sugar to the tip of his private part and put ants on it.

Practitioners Tortured and Forced to Do Slave Labour at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp [13.12.2007]

There are a few Falun Gong practitioners assigned to the general ward at the Masanjia Women's Second Forced Labour Camp who are made to do sewing work. They are forced to get up at 5:00 a.m. and are not allowed to finish working until after 11:00 p.m., without being allowed a rest at noon. They only get to eat carrot and cabbage soup. Guards use extremely cruel means to force the newly arrived Falun Gong practitioners to write the "three statements" to renounce Falun Gong. Wardens can be found sitting in the corridor and the only thing they can hear are the screams of Falun Gong practitioners being tortured.

Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Guards Order Prisoners to Continuously Torture Practitioner Mr. Zhao Jian [06.12.2007]

On September 21st, 2007, thirteen practitioners were sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province. On October 12th, practitioner Mr. Zhao Jian refused to work as a slave labourer. Zhang (male), one of the camp supervisors ordered two prisoners to trample on his legs in order to force him to kneel, but Mr. Zhao firmly resisted. The same scenario was repeated four or five times and finally, some of the guards told other prisoners to take away most of Mr. Zhao's clothes, leaving only one outer garment. Mr. Zhao was forced to work in a corn field without appropriate clothing, although it was extremely cold. At night, the guards told thirty prisoners to make sure Mr. Zhao would give up his belief in Falun Dafa. He was forced to work until midnight for two days.

Inmates in Sichuan Women's Forced Labour Camp Beat Deng Li and Broke Her Left Hip [04.12.2007]

Ms. Deng Li, a forty-six-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested by police and taken to Sichuan Women's Forced Labour Camp on August 27th, 2007. In the camp Ms. Deng was ordered to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong, but Ms. Deng refused. An inmate then pulled Deng Li upstairs and proceeded to kick her in the hips. As she refused inmates violently slapped and punched Ms. Deng left eye causing her vision to blur, and her face and mouth became distorted from the beating. Then they beat her until she became unconscious.

She was forced to sit on high benches for long periods of time, until both her legs were numb and she could not walk properly and subjected to sleep deprivation. After a period of time, Ms. Jiang started to feel numbness and pain below her chest. Her buttocks festered and oozed pus, and she could not stand up straight. It was clear that she was badly injured. Under the prolonged physical and mental torture, Ms. Jiang developed insomnia and signs of delirium. She could only sleep after being injected with drugs and she appeared to show signs of an impending collapse.

Criminal Actions of Commander Wang Kai in the Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp's Fifth Battalion [22.11.2007]

Wang Kai, an official of the fifth battalion in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, has actively followed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) policy of persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners since he was promoted from instructor to the post of commander. In order to protest the persecution, Yu Huai, a practitioner, went on a hunger strike. Wang ordered criminals to force-feed him with a tube. Mr. Yu was slapped twice for not cooperating. Even when Mr. Yu became extremely weak and was in critical condition, he wasn't released. He died in April 2007 as a result of this persecution.

Recent Account of Persecution at the Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province [20.11.2007]

Due to the recent 17th Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Congress, the visitation schedule at Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp was disrupted. The guards have been harassing the visiting family members and turned them away without granting visitation. There were practitioners on long term hunger strikes and in critical condition in the labour camp. The labour camp authorities forced their family members to come from far away to help persuade the practitioners to stop their hunger strikes and give up Falun Gong. If the family members failed in their efforts, the labour camp continued to imprison the practitioners. Furthermore, they denied family visits the next day, which was an official visiting day.

Guards from the Second Unit of the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp Continue to Torture Dafa Practitioners [19.11.2007]

Later that morning Guard Jia Hongyan continuously shocked Ms. Zhang with an electric baton for an extended period of time. Practitioner Ms. Xu Mingying is 50 years old. In August, 2007, a prisoner reported that Ms. Xu had Falun Dafa materials. Guard Yang Liqiu (female) hit Ms. Xu's mouth and shocked her with an electric baton. Exposing the Crimes Committed at Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp [16.11.2007]

Situated near a small shopping centre in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is a forced labour camp for women. This is a sinister place where over 46 Falun Dafa practitioners are held in confinement. On October 15th, 2006, Ms. Liu Taojiang was beaten so badly by warden Hong Yuanqu that she was sent home immediately by the guards, who wanted to avoid responsibility for her death. A month later, just when Liu was well enough to get out of bed, she was again taken back to Shanxi Forced Labour Camp. Liu went on a hunger strike to protest. Seeing that Liu was dying, the camp officials quickly ordered her family to take her home. Liu slowly recovered two weeks later. Again, the camp officers came and took her away. She has not been seen since.

Practitioners Tortured and Forced to Do Hard Labour at Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province [11.11.2007]

Practitioners have been forced to work from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., or even 10:00 p.m. if more work needed to be done. Qiang Tongqin is the production captain in this brigade. In his labour record book, he wrote down that every Wednesday is his interview day, that Saturdays and Sundays are rest days, and that labour is done only five to six hours each day with rest breaks taken at noon. But these records do not reflect the true situation at all.

Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Harbin City's Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp [10.11.2007]

Practitioner Qiao Zengyi was tortured to skin and bones in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp, and he was on the verge of death. In June 2007, he was sent to hospital for emergency treatment. On July 4th, his family was ordered to bring medicine for a lung infection. When the family saw how emaciated he was, they asked the camp authorities to hospitalise him for further treatment, but their request was denied. The most common methods of torture used in Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp include the following: being confined in a solitary cell for more than a month at a time; being forced to attend brainwashing sessions run by a group of collaborators, former practitioners who have turned against Dafa; being shocked with electric batons, immobilised with handcuffs, forced to wear a motorcycle helmet for extended periods of time. The guards told Mr. Gao to participate in a "formation drill" in the afternoon. Mr. Gao talked to the division head and asked to rest because he was not feeling well. As a result he was brutally beaten.

Yanji City Practitioner Zhang Xingcai Brutally Persecuted in Jiutai Forced Labour Camp [06.11.2007]

Yanbian and Jiutai labour camps resorted to various inhumane torture methods to reform practitioners. One of the torture methods used was to wake the practitioners up as early as 4:30 a.m. and make them sit on plastic backless stools for up to 15 hours a day. The practitioners had to sit upright and straight, at a 90-degree angle, with both hands placed in front of the knees and eyes staring straight at the blackboard in front. This prolonged sitting caused some of the practitioners' buttocks to become inflamed and eventually infected. Their oozing wounds would stick to their clothing, causing them extreme pain and itchiness. The suffering was unbearable. They were not allowed to move or turn their heads while sitting. They were not allowed to utter a word. Young or old, healthy or sick, failure to comply would be met with severe punishment such as kicks and punches.

Because of torture, Mr. Wei has been coughing up blood, but the guards continue to handcuff him to the radiator and force him to perform heavy labour. On the afternoon of September 26th, Mr. Wei's mother, wife and elderly aunt tried to visit him, but the camp staff stopped them before they even entered the camp's courtyard. Liu Qingyong told them, "The 17th National People's Congress is about to begin. We have received orders that there will be no visits or releases."

The Persecution of Group 5 in Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp [01.11.2007]

Falun Gong practitioners have been imprisoned and persecuted in Group 5 of Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp since 2000. Those in charge have used violence in brainwashing practitioners and tortured them both mentally and physically. The so-called "transformation" by the Chinese Communist Party is, without exception, violently forced on practitioners. In order to encourage wardens to be more violent, an internal policy that awarded the wardens a minimum of 800 yuan for each practitioner they "transformed" was enacted. For transforming the "focused" practitioners, the award can be over a thousand or even over ten thousand yuan each. In October 2004, Qie Lili was tortured and brainwashed with the "flying eagle" torture. She was deprived of sleep for 10 days and at the end she showed the symptoms of a heart attack. She went on hunger strikes several times to protest the persecution but was brutally force-fed every time.

October 2007

Crimes Committed at Moganshan Forced Labour Camp in Zhejiang Province [30.10.2007]

Practitioner Guo Caiqin is 60 years old. Because of her determined belief in Dafa, on July 6th, 2006, she was sent to Moganshan Forced Labour Camp. Several drug addict inmates are assigned to monitor each practitioner. At the beginning, there were "conversations" where practitioners were pressured into giving up Falun Gong. If that did not work, practitioners were forced to watch video tapes or listen to tapes with the volume turned to the maximum. They were also forced to sit on a bench all day. Every day, practitioners were forced to get up very early in the morning and go to bed very late at night. If practitioners did not cooperate, they were forced to take an unknown drug. If they refused to take the drug, it was secretly put in their food. When Guo Caiqin found out that the inmates were putting drugs in her food, she went on a hunger strike to protest. Five drug addicts force-fed her with frozen bread. Her nose was bleeding and her teeth were loosened.

Sentenced to Forced Labour Three Times for a Total of Six Years, Ms. Peng Shiqiong Is Being Held in Chongqing Forced Labour Camp Beyond Her Original Sentence [26.10.2007]

In the winter of 2002, a journalist from Australia went to Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp and asked for information about the water dungeon. Prison guard Li Qi denied the existence of a water dungeon. Li Qi took the journalist from the first floor to the third. Seeing that 13 practitioners were being forced to stand, the journalist asked, "Why are they standing there?" Li Qi replied, "Because they like it." One practitioner pointed at Li Qi and said, "No, we do not like standing here. She makes us." After the journalist left, Li Qi instigated some drug addict inmates to brutally beat Peng Shiqiong, Gao Huifang (who has since been tortured to death), Luo Meng, and Wang Huiying for several hours. Even the regular prisoners were horrified when they saw what was going on, and turned away.

Yang Manzhi Subjected to "Death Bed" Torture in Benxi Forced Labour Camp [24.10.2007]

As part of the coercive brainwashing, camp wardens have repeatedly forced practitioners to listen to, watch, read, and write materials that criticise Falun Dafa. Camp wardens hired collaborators [former practitioners who assist in brainwashing] to persecute firm practitioners. Those in charge deprive practitioners of sleep, force them to perform hard labour, and torture them in various ways. The steadfast practitioners were put into solitary confinement or tied to a "death bed." The death bed involves strait-lacing the victim's limbs and trunk with thin nylon cords to a bed frame for a long time. The cords can obstruct breathing and cut into the flesh. Practitioners on hunger strike are force fed.

The Brutal Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners at Shanghai No. 3 Forced Labour Camp [24.10.2007]

Xiang Jianzhong, famous for his cruelty, was the head of a team at the Shanghai No.3 Forced Labour Camp. He, along with guards Gao Jinlin and Chen Jiangong, continuously enforced the mental and physical torture of imprisoned practitioners. If a practitioner did not "transform" according to a guard's expectations, the guard would harass and torture the person for long periods of time. The practitioners would be forced to face the wall and stand still. They were not allowed to sleep, were beaten with electric batons, and locked in small cells. Practitioner Wang Wei, associate professor of the Fudan University Business School in Shanghai, was forced to stand still for long periods of time and locked in a small cell. When he was released after being held for 20 days, he was "skin and bones" due to the brutal torture.

Ms. Yan Jingqiu Imprisoned in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp and Not Allowed to Visit Her Husband Before His Death [19.10.2007]

Because she removed banners that the wicked Chinese Communist Party made to defame Falun Gong, practitioner Ms. Yan Jingqiu of Qingdao City was arrested by police and sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp for a term of two and a half years. Because of the mental pressure, her husband suffered from a severe illness and passed away; Ms. Yan was not allowed to see him before his death. The forced labour camp forbade Ms. Yan to visit her husband because she refused to sign a guarantee statement to give up her beliefs. She is still unlawfully imprisoned and her daughter is at home alone.

The Mistreatment I was Subjected to at the Anhui Women's Forced Labour Camp [17.10.2007]

The Anhui Women's Labour Camp forcibly brainwashes practitioners. The guards tried to force me to watch videos that slandered Falun Dafa, and when I resisted, the collaborators [former practitioners who assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners] took me to the video area and tied me to a chair. The head of the labour camp also deprived me of sleep for long periods of time, waking me at 5:00 a.m. and not allowing me to go to bed until after midnight. He sent two inmates to watch me, did not allow me to talk to anyone. I later lost the sight in my right eye as a result of the physical abuse, and my blood pressure rose to 160/130. When the doctors examined me, they said that I was also about to lose the sight in my left eye. To this day, my health continues to suffer as a result of the persecution.

Xishanping Forced Labour Camp Officials in Chongqing City Are Still Severely Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioners [14.10.2007]

The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp, Chongqing City, is still very severe. According to a news source, for more than a month officials at the camp have been ruthlessly abusing the practitioners who persevere in Falun Gong practice. Besides making them do extremely intense manual labour, consisting of folding 1,500 small packages for headache powder, the physical tortures are extremely brutal. For instance, the abusers use hard objects to bang the practitioners' wrists and ankles; some practitioners were battered to a pulp. Not even older practitioners are spared from such gross abuse.

Benxi City Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province - A Den of Villainous Monsters [13.10.2007]

The torture that the camp officials commonly administer to Falun Gong practitioners is called the "stretching bed." The "stretching bed" involves putting two single beds together and handcuffing or tying a practitioner's hands on the four corners of the two beds. (They had previously used handcuffs for this, but after the handcuffs severely cut practitioner Wang Xuefei's hands and traumatised him, the guards began using ropes to prevent this visible injury from happening.) After they tie a practitioner, they move the two beds in opposite directions. For steadfast practitioners they add some bricks between the two beds. Each brick added causes severe pain and injury. This torture method is very similar to the ancient torture method called "five horses splitting a body," also called "split by carts."

Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Jiangsu Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp [05.10.2007]

Hong Ying and Zhou Ying, the political instructors of the camp, have coerced and instigated criminal inmates to beat practitioners. They force practitioners to squat on an inverted bench without shoes and transcribe materials that slander Falun Dafa at the same time. The criminal inmates beat any practitioners that disobey the orders. Practitioners who resist and dare to hold hunger strikes are force fed. Other practitioners are compelled to watch. During the force- feeding process, the nose, mouth and throat of the practitioner are often severely injured, so she is transferred to the recovery centre for so-called treatment. But while there, the practitioner is injected with unknown drugs that destroy the nervous system, so after a while, she suffers from headaches and has a constant bitter taste in her mouth.

The Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners in Shanghai City Women's Forced Labour Camp Is as Brutal as Ever [01.10.2007]

Currently, the Shanghai City 610 Office is still making use of its power to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. It sentenced female practitioners to labour camp for one to three years without evidence of any crime. Jiang Qiqiong specifically studied "psychology" in order to deceive practitioners with her evil "doctrine". In addition, she used other types of violence on practitioners, including forcing them to stand facing the wall, hanging them up in the air, confining them in solitary cells, depriving them of food and sleep, as well as verbal abuse.

Nearly 400 Falun Dafa Practitioners Tortured at the Second Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province [27.09.2007]

Practitioners imprisoned in the Second Women's Forced Labour Camp are tortured and forced to perform hard labour. There are four brigades in the camp. The majority of people in these brigades are practitioners, and the rest are drug abusers and religious believers. The torture practitioners suffer is getting worse and the time to do slave labour is getting longer. Practitioners are forced to get up at 4 a.m. and begin to work at 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. But, sometimes they have to work until midnight or 1 a.m. The skin on practitioners' bottoms often ruptures and becomes infected because of sitting on hard stools. Cushions are not allowed. Guards will confiscate it and berate practitioners if they find one. The food is awful. Drug abusers don't eat that food. Slave labour has become more backbreaking, practitioners lack nutritious food and there are many practitioners who faint.

Authorities at Xi'an City Women's Labour Camp Lace Falun Gong Practitioners' Food with an Unknown Substance for an Extended Period of Time [23.09.2007]

Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Shulian is locked in solitary confinement where she is forbidden all contact with the outside world, and, two drug-addict prisoners keep her under constant surveillance. At each meal, one inmate opens a capsule filled with a powdery substance and pours the unknown white powder into Ms. Li Shulian's bowl, afterward mixing some broth and vegetables in it. After practitioners eat the vegetables, their stomachs swell. They feel weak, get headaches and nausea. They want to vomit when they see the vegetables. Ms. Li Shulian must have ingested a lot of this poison because she has withered down to skin and bones.

For his act, he was arrested and officers sentenced him to a two-year term of forced labour. Sun Xianming suffered severe burns to his chest. Not only did he not receive medical treatment for his broken arms and severe chest burns, he was forced to pick corn stalks in the cornfield all day, which caused severe swelling in his arms. His pain continued into the evening because he was forced to sit on a small backless stool until midnight.

She was emaciated.

Inmates Torture Practitioners in Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp [15.09.2007]

Practitioners who arrive at the labour camp are detained in the First Division and held among the regular inmates. The camp guards require that each practitioner memorise the labour camp rules within a certain time. Those who can not or do not recite the rules are not allowed to sleep between midnight and 2:00 a.m. Instead, they are forced to stand for those two hours and do the regular forced labour work the next day. Every day, they have to start work right after breakfast and work from 7:00 a.m. to noon. Then they are forced to stand until 2:00 p.m. Afterwards, they have to resume work again until 10:00 p.m. and sometimes until midnight.
