'The European Council agrees to express deep concerns over the appalling violations of human rights in Mainland China and the pathetic promotion of human rights in some regions. Torture, execution, Falun Gong, Tibet, Xinjiang, and the ‘Strike Hard’ in fighting crime campaign have been emphasised in particular by EU Foreign Affairs Ministers.'

“We have just heard of the arrest of Lin Wenrong. We are very shocked by the news. She was arrested and sent to a forced brainwashing class just because she practises Falun Gong...There practitioners are subjected to mental persecution or even torturing. After hearing the news, practitioners in Germany and other countries around the world are urgently calling for her immediate release.”

'In a news conference called to denounce the Hong Kong authorities' deportation of 80 Taiwanese Falun Gong followers on 20 February and 21 February, [Vice-President Annette] Lu said the former British colony has rapidly lost its shine as the Pearl of the Orient and a "beacon of freedom" since it was handed back to Beijing in 1997.'

German International Criminal Law Scholar: “Those who persecute Falun Gong will face trial on Criminal Charges” [19.02.2003]

Radio Free Asia interviewed Ms. Zheng, who is from Zhejiang University in China and is a scholar specialising in the research of international criminal law. Ms. Zheng stressed that the international community is paying more and more attention to the crimes and violations of basic human rights and freedom.

Fa Guang Radio Station: Falun Gong Broadcasts a Video in a North-eastern Chinese City about the Truth behind the “Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation” [02.02.2003]

'The programme lasted over thirty minutes and covered all the channels on the local cable TV...The report was broadcast to Mainland China as well as to the Chinese community in Paris.'

This is a report from the Chinese program of the French International Radio Station, which broadcasts to Mainland China and the Greater Paris area.

RFI: One of China’s First Satellite Researchers Detained in a Labour camp. [16.01.2003]

"According to the Falun Dafa Information Centre, Ms. Yang Yueli, a former senior engineer of China’s Aeronautics Ministry, was detained in a labour camp because she practised Falun Gong. Ms. Yang Yueli, now 62 years old, once participated in the research and launch of China’s first satellite."

New Tang Dynasty TV Report: UK Member of Parliament Talks about Article 23 (photo) [15.01.2003]

New Tang Dynasty TV interviewed Dr Steve Ladyman, Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom, on the proposed Article 23 legislation in Hong Kong. Dr Ladyman has been very concerned with the human rights situation in China, and has been vocal in expressing his concerns to the media and in the parliament.

Radio France International: Taipei Mayor Ma urges Beijing to treat Falun Gong with tolerance [02.01.2003]

Taipei Mayor Ma Ying-jeou urged the Beijing government to treat Falun Gong with tolerance. Mayor Ma made the request when attending the 2002 Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference in Taiwan...Ma called on Mainland China to rethink Chinese culture’s attributes of diversity, tolerance and containment.

New Tang Dynasty TV: Falun Gong Followers Hold Peaceful Demonstration in front of the European Parliament [29.12.2002]

'On December 19th, Falun Gong followers held a press conference in front of the European Parliament. Mr. Roger Helmer, MEP, spoke at the news conference and voiced his support for Falun Gong.'

RFI: Chinese Democracy Party in France is Staging a Hunger Strike on Christmas Day to Protest the Legislation of Article 23 [26.12.2002]

'The French Branch of Chinese Democracy Party Union announced in a statement today that in order to protest and object against the HKSAR’s [Hong Kong Government’s] proposed Article 23 legislation, all members of the French Branch of the Chinese Democracy Party Union will go on a one day hunger strike on Christmas Day.'

Germany: A Dresden Practitioner Reveals the Truth about Article 23 on Prime-time TV [24.12.2002]

After briefly describing the basics of Article 23, the practitioner revealed how this legislation is the direct result of pressure from Jiang Zemin’s regime in China. He told the viewers how Article 23 would limit the freedoms of Hong Kong people.

New Tang Dynasty TV: Renowned British Sinologist talks about Article 23 [23.12.2002]

'On 17th December 2002, New Tang Dynasty TV interviewed Professor Michael Yahuda, a renowned China expert in the London School of Economics and Political Science, on the proposed legislation on Article 23 in Hong Kong. Professor Yahuda is one of the 44 scholars who wrote to the Chinese government in opposition to this legislation.'

International Radio Broadcasting (France): Falun Gong Appeals to the USA Government to Ask the Chinese Government to Release All Detained Falun Gong Practitioners [20.12.2002]

AFP quoted the [Falun Dafa Information Centre's] statement, which mentioned that international pressure has had some effect; some Falun Gong practitioners have been released, and the situation of other practitioners in detention has improved.

Radio Free Asia: Hong Kong Bar Association Claims Proposal to Implement Article 23 Is Against International Human Rights Regulations [13.12.2002]

'The International Human Rights Organization and the Hong Kong Human Rights Monitor joined together to contact the United Nations Human Rights Affairs Office in writing, requesting a show of concern about the issue of implementing Article 23 of the Basic Law in Hong Kong.'

Spanish National Radio Station Reports on The Persecution of Falun Gong [10.12.2002]

"In the spring of 1989, Beijing government cracked down on college students in broad daylight. However, Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted in private. This persecution which appears more cruel, terrible and harsh, has been extended to every corner of China with much more victims."

RTE (Ireland): Recent popularity of the Chinese banned practise of Falun Gong among Irish citizens (Video) [17.11.2002]

RTE (Radio Telefis Eireann) is one of the major television stations in Ireland. Recently one of it's programs, Nationwide, broadcast a report on the spread Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) in Ireland.

French Radio Station Report: 64 US House Representatives Co-signed a letter to President Bush urging him to raise Falun Gong Issues When Meeting with the Head of PRC. [31.10.2002]

[The website] indicated that Falun Gong practitioner Mei Yu-lan was tortured to death by stuffing food through her mouth in No. 607 ward in Chao-Yang Detention Centre after she had been on a hunger strike [to protest her illegal detention].

Radio France International:700 Falun Gong Practitioners Hold Demonstration in Front of China’s Consulate in Chicago [30.10.2002]

On Oct. 22, 2002, Radio France International reported in its Chinese broadcasting program, which was aired to Mainland China and Paris Metropolitan area, that according to a report from AFP, there were more than seven hundred Falun Gong practitioners holding a demonstration in front of the Chinese consulate in Chicago against the persecution of Faun Gong by [Jiang’s] government.

Radio Free Asia Report: Scholars and Professors Write to Jiang and Protest Hong Kong Basic Law No. 23 [29.10.2002]

Radio Free Asia reported that 44 internationally renowned scholars and professors signed a joint letter to Jiang in which they protested the establishment of Hong Kong Basic Law No. 23. In the letter, the scholars stated that this decree would harm the freedom of the people of Hong Kong.

RFA (Radio Free Asia): Jiang Zemin (Receives) Severe Warning During His Visit to United States [28.10.2002]

[The Chinese Embassy] pressured the hotels nearby to cancel all the bookings by Chinese people, and they also asked the sponsors to send emails to the participants of the "welcoming group," requesting them to sign an agreement: "...I also agree if any disturbances are caused by me (e.g. protest against the United States and/or President of China) to pay $5,000 as minimal damages for any harm that may result from such disturbances to the group's reputation."

Holland: Amsterdam Local television broadcasts program about persecuted Dutch-Chinese family [08.10.2002]

On Friday the 4th of October, Salto 2, an Amsterdam local television station, broadcasted a 30-minute documentary about the Dutch-Chinese family Warnaar-Wang. Almost all members of the family practise Falun Gong. The family members that live in China are victims of the severe and inhumane persecution of Falun Gong.
