  • Ms. Wang Yingxia Recounts Her Mistreatment in Harbin Women's Prison

While I was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Tongjiang City in December 2007, I was arrested by the local police and moved between different detention centres before being sentenced to three years in Harbin Women's Prison in June 2008. When my elder sister went to the Tongjiang Police Department to request my release in December 2007, the police found out that she was also a practitioner and later arrested her. She was held in a detention centre and then was transferred to a labour camp for a year and three months.

Because I practise Falun Gong, I have been arrested five times. I was detained twice in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp, where I was brutally tortured both physically and mentally. In July 2003, I was taken to Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp by police. I was forced to squat for a prolonged period of time. The guards also ordered a criminal inmate to pour water over my head. Practitioners who were not "transformed" [forcibly renounced Falun Gong] were each forced to sit on a small stool. We had to carry dirt and bricks on our backs, and to work from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. without a break from the demanding work. Sometimes we had to work until midnight or even 1:00 a.m. Guard Gao Zhilu often beat us.
  • Mr. Qin Yongjie Taken to Weifang Detention Centre

On September 25th, Mr. Qin Yongjie, a teacher in the Physics Department of Weifang University in Shandong Province, was arrested on his way to work. He was taken to the Weifang Detention Centre. The police took keys from his pockets and conducted a search of his home, confiscating a picture of the founder of Falun Gong and a set of Falun Gong books. Since the suppression of Falun Gong began in 1999, the Chinese Communist regime has not allowed this kindhearted university teacher to live in peace and has repeatedly arrested and detained him, ransacked his home, and taken him to forced labour camps.

Mr. Wu Shengli is a teacher. He has followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance since he started practising Falun Gong. • The Ordeals of Retired Doctor Liu Maimei

I was sent to the Hewan Forced Labour Camp for practising Falun Gong. As soon as I arrived, I was subjected to surveillance by other prisoners. I encountered collaborators, former practitioners who are made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners, and was subjected to non stop, around the clock brainwashing tactics. I was forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and forced to write a self-examination every day. I was also intimidated and tempted with promises of rewards if I capitulated and gave up Falun Gong. I was deprived of sleep, and denied use of the toilet. The whole time I was in the labour camp, I was subjected to brainwashing and forced labour.
  • Teacher at Minzu University of China Sentenced

The Haidian District Court in Beijing sentenced Ms. Liang Bo to three-and-a-half years of imprisonment on October 22nd. Ms. Liang was recently arrested on May 20th, by police. Officer Dong Yongping viciously beat her, cursed at her, deprived her of sleep, forced her to wear the inmate uniform, and forcibly cut her hair. • The Persecution of Ms. Lu Na and Ms. Wang Huanhua

Ms. Lu Na and Ms. Wang Huanhua are both Falun Gong practitioners. While visiting Ms. Wang in April this year, Ms. Lu went out with her on the 29th of the month to distribute Falun Gong DVDs to passersby in Nanjing City. Unfortunately they were reported to the local police. The local police informed their Hefei City counterparts, and the women were arrested that same day. Even though the police released them in June, they have never stopped harassing them at home. During interrogation police slapped their faces. They also drew blood samples. At the detention centre they were kept in different cells where the space for each person to sleep at was only 20 centimetres wide, so they had to sleep on their sides. At night, the guards made them stand still for two hours without giving them water or allowing them any toilet breaks.
  • Ms. Lin Huijin, Who Regained Her Vision after Practising Falun Gong, Arrested in Guangdong Province

They took thousands of yuan from Ms. Lin's business and also arrested Ms. Wu, who was at the shop. Since July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been persecuting those that practise Falun Gong. Ms. Lin was harassed many times by the CCP authorities. They threatened her and she was arrested, and her home was raided. Because Ms. Lin treated people kindly and fairly, her business became very successful. Customers liked to chat and purchase her products. Shockingly, that became the excuse for the CCP to arrest and persecute her. The police director told Ms. Lin's husband, "There were too many people who went to her shop, so it must be a contact point for Falun Gong."

She was held in Yongchuan Women's Jail. She was tortured so badly in jail that she was in critical condition. In August 2004, the jail agreed to release her on medical parole and serve the rest of her sentence outside the jail.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner and Attorney Mr. Zhu Yubiao Arrested

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhu Yubiao, a lawyer, was arrested by agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) again on August 18th, 2010. He has been detained at Haizhu District Detention Centre now for over 50 days. Mr. Zhu was the first lawyer in Guangdong province to openly defend the rights of Falun Gong practitioners; and the officials were aware that his defence was based on the law. With no way to refute the facts, the court officials did not know how to respond. When Mr. Zhu was defending Falun Gong practitioners in court, he said, "Our country bans and punishes cult organizations and activities severely; however, none of these provisions mention Falun Gong. In another words, the law does not say Falun Gong is a cult."

Throughout these ten years her family members have been living in fear and her relatives have not been able to lead normal lives.
