  • Ms. Zhu Qiuling Sentenced to Prison; Mr. Chen Yinru Awaiting Trial

    Officials from Wuzhong District Court sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Qiuling to five years in prison in the afternoon on April 2nd, 2010. Two defence attorneys and their bags were searched before they could enter the courtroom. They were not allowed to touch upon certain issues, which were pre-determined by the Chinese Communist Party. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Yinru is currently being held at Suzhou City No.1 Detention Centre, awaiting trial in the Huqiu District Court.
  • Mr. Lei Jingxiong, Who Was Almost Cremated Alive, Is Arrested Again

    On June 28th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Lei Jingxiong was arrested by a policeman at the airport when he was on his way to a new job. Later, he was sent to the Xishui County Detention Centre. In 2010, Mr. Lei's family received a notice from Douyun Prison indicating that Mr. Lei had been sentenced to 8 years in prison. During the past ten years of persecution, Mr. Lei Jingxiong has been constantly harassed and tortured by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In 2004, police had seemingly beaten Mr. Lei to death. As his body was about to be cremated in a funeral home, an officer discovered he was still alive and stopped the cremation. Mr. Lei was taken to a hospital, where he was again beaten. All the beatings caused his face to become disfigured.
  • Ms. Teng Weiqiang Has Been Imprisoned for Eight Years for Hanging Up a Banner

    Mr. Teng Weiqiang, 33, was arrested for displaying a Falun Gong banner in February 2002 and then sentenced to ten years in prison. During his detention at the Baishan City Police Department, officers hung him up and covered his head with several plastic bags to choke him. He is currently imprisoned in Gongzhuling Prison. As a result of many years of torture, he looks like skin and bones. Guards repeatedly denied requests from his family to visit him and it has been four years since his mother has seen him.
  • I Suffered Brutal Torture in Hulan City Prison

    After the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 20th, 1999, like thousands of practitioners, I distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, telling people about the beauty of Falun Gong and exposing the persecution. I also suffered from brutal persecution. On August 23rd, 2002, police arrested me. I was sentenced to four years in prison. Since I refused to renounce Falun Gong, guards ordered inmates to brutally torture me. Once, the inmates tied up my arms and legs and beat me. My ribs were broken, the muscles on my thigh were torn and the soles of my feet were all black. I was not even able to climb onto my bed. Another time, they burned my nose with lighters and beat my face; my face was distorted afterward. I was compelled to do forced labour, deprived of sleep and made to stand continuously for over eight hours.
  • Ms. Huang Songdong from Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province Arrested and Her Family Blackmailed

    Ms. Huang Songdong, over 60, was sent to Nanchang Women's Forced Labour Camp for talking to people about Falun Gong. On March 5th, 2010, Ms. Huang was arrested, and she was only released after her son was blackmailed for 20,000 yuan. Ms. Huang was subjected to one and a half years of forced labour on March 11th, and was sent to Nanchang Forced Labour Camp. However, she was rejected for health reasons.
  • Woman Suspended By Handcuffs For Seven Days at Forced Labour Camp

    In 2008, Ms. Liu Hong was imprisoned for practising Falun Gong. While incarcerated at Wangcun Women's Prison, she was brutally tortured and hung up by handcuffs, with only her toes touching the ground for seven days and nights. As a result, she almost lost the use of her hands. She recounts: "Guards intensified the persecution because I refused to be "transformed." They tightened the handcuffs on my wrists. In a few moments, my fingers swelled and felt like they were about to burst open. It felt as if tens of thousands of needles were pressing into them. It was extremely painful. Cui Hongwen released one handcuff so that I could write the statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. They finally let me down on September 12th, after seven days and nights."
  • Eyewitness Account: Police Shoot at and Violently Arrest Older Practitioner Guo Yumin

    I am a good friend of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Yumin. On July 9th, 2009, I personally witnessed Mr. Guo Yumin being arrested and shot at by officers from the Tiefeng District Police Department. They forced open the door of Guo's home and beat him savagely. They also beat his wife. Guo escaped the grasp of the police. One officer aimed his gun at him. Guo's daughter jumped on this policeman, disregarding the danger, and cried, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" The gunshot was fired but missed the target. Everyone considers Guo a good person. But because of his belief in Falun Gong, he was arrested, shot at, savagely beaten, cruelly tortured, and detained by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials.
  • Yinchuan City: Wife Sentenced to Four Years in Prison, Husband Serving Eight Year Sentence for Practising Falun Gong

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shan Jining was recently sentenced to four years in prison. Her husband, Mr. Wang Desheng, was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2005. On October 17th, 2009, Ms. Shan was reported to the authorities while she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. After being held at the Yinchuan City Detention Centre for several months, she was secretly sentenced to four years in prison. She is currently detained at Yinchuan City Women's Prison.
  • Lawyers Plead Not Guilty on Behalf of Seven Falun Gong Practitioners in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province

    Bayuquan District Court in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, brought seven Falun Gong practitioners to trial on March 23rd, 2010. Their lawyers pleaded not guilty on their behalf. Over the next several days the families asked the court to release their detained relatives. The judges said that, although the lawyers had entered a plea of not guilty for each practitioner, the courts had to do things their way and had to press charges. They also said that they had no intention of releasing any Falun Gong practitioners.
  • Practitioner Ms. Sun Li Arrested; Her Family Detained When Looking for Her

    Local police arrested Ms. Sun Li from a hotel room. The arrest took place while she was running errands in the Nancha District, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. Her family went to look for her but was detained and had funds extorted from them. During the arrest several police officers dragged her downstairs to a waiting police car. She shouted, "Falun Gong is good" and she began explaining Falun Gong and exposing the Communist Party's crimes to the passersby. Ms. Sun held onto the car door, and they shoved her to the ground. Officer Zhao Yuanxin knelt on her chest and almost suffocated her. Another officer arrived, and the two carried her into the car. They kept kneeling on her chest so she could not move.
  • Ms. Zheng Zhixian and Daughter Arrested

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Zhixian is in her sixties. On March 26th, 2010, she was arrested by police officers while she put up banners to inform the public about the persecution of Falun Gong. Previously in May 2009, Ms. Zheng Zhixian and her husband were at a market stand when police arrested and carried her to the car, then took her to a brainwashing centre, where she was detained for 53 days. The head of the brainwashing centre extorted 1,000 yuan from her family, claiming expenses for her meals, then released her. After she returned home, Ms. Zheng was extremely weak. Her body trembled while walking since she had no strength. One of her hands is paralysed, so she cannot look after herself.
  • Arrest of a Practitioner Repentant for His Behaviour Prior to Cultivating

    Mr. Bai Jingzhi was very well known in the Hongshi Forestry Bureau of Huadian City, Jilin Province. He was known as a scoundrel in his area. His return to being a better person was filled with hardship and sadness. There is a Chinese saying, "A repentant libertine is more precious than gold." However, the government under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has arrested him for his newfound beliefs. On January 11th, 2010, Mr. Bai and other practitioners went to Erdaodianzi Town of Huadian City to distribute Falun Gong information and were arrested. Mr. Bai was taken to the Huadian City Detention Centre.
  • Ou Weizhi and Zou Jixiu Tried in Nongken Court in Mudanjiang

    Ms. Ou Weizhi and Ms. Zou Jixiu were arrested and put on trial on March 22nd, 2010, because they practise Falun Gong. Friends of Ms. Ou Weizhi found her an attorney in Beijing, and Ms. Zou Jixiu's family found her one too. Personnel from the procuratorial department lied in court. The judges tried to hinder the attorneys from speaking with the excuse that the government had already determined the nature of Falun Gong, but the attorneys protested.
  • 56-Year-Old Li Chuanlan of Yushu, Jilin, Describes Her Torture Experience

    Fellow Falun Gong practitioner Liu Shuyan and I went to distribute Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution on April 29th, 2009. On our way home we were arrested by police. We were detained in Yushu Detention Centre. I started a hunger strike on June 5th to protest my detention. I became very weak after ten days and they took me to the hospital and injected me with an unknown drug. My abdomen then became very bloated, and my mouth severely cracked and blistered. I heard continuous ringing in my ears and I couldn't see. They also deceived our families by telling them that they would let us go if they got their signatures. Once they got the signatures however, we were again put into detention.
  • After Seven Years of Imprisonment, Ms. Chen Shulan Taken to a Brainwashing Centre

    Ms. Chen Shulan was arrested by officers from the Changping District Police Department on September 16th, 2002, and was sentenced to seven and a half years. She was held at the Beijing Women's Prison until her release on March 17th, 2010, when she was picked up again and taken to the Changping District Brainwashing Centre.
