  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Kao Fuquan Arrested after Incessant Harassment

    On May 8th, 2010, Kao Fuquan was arrested outside his home by agents of the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). He is currently detained at the Lingnan Gold Mine Brainwashing Centre. They have interrogated Mr. Kao using torture. In January 2003, Mr. Kao was arrested by police and his home was ransacked. He was tortured with electric batons to his head, ears, and other sensitive areas. His arms and hands were burned. To further torture him, agents used handcuffs to suspend him from a hook on the wall until he passed out from the pain. When Mr. Kao came to, the torture would start all over again. He was tortured for nine days in the Mengzhi Police Station.
  • Mr. Zhang Aiquan and His Wife, Both Practitioners from Shengli Oil Field, Sentenced to Prison Terms

    Before the persecution started, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Aiquan lived a happy life with his wife and daughter. After July 20th, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang and his wife were arrested, sentenced to forced labour and prison terms, and had their home ransacked. In September 2000, Mr. Zhang was sentenced to three years of forced labour and taken to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province. In 2005, Mr. Zhang and his wife were arrested again. Police interrogated the couple by using torture. They beat them and tied them to a "dead person's bed" for more than a month. Mr. Zhang was forced to say he was guilty for telling people the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong.
  • Schoolteacher Arrested Two Months after Being Released from Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ni Cuixia was a teacher at the Xujia Elementary School in Dalian City. She had been imprisoned at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp for one year before she was released two months ago. It was only two months later that she was taken into custody again on May 27th. The police did not present any proper paperwork and have not provided the family any further information on Ms. Ni.
  • Teacher Who Donated 60,000 Yuan to Her Hometown Brought to Trial

    On January 26th, 2010, as Ms. Lu Chunyun, a Falun Gong practitioner, was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong at the Trade Building in Liaoyuan City, security guards arrested her. Police officers then ransacked her home and confiscated her personal computer. She is now being held in Liaoyuan Detention Centre. May 14th, Ms. Lu was brought to trial in the Longshan District Court. When her family saw her, two people were helping her just to walk. No verdict was announced after the trial. In 1996, when local officials were calling for donations to build roads and a bridge, she donated half of her total savings, 60,000 yuan to the government to build the bridge. In addition, she did it anonymously.
  • The Couple Mr. Liu Xigong and Ms. Le Xiuwen Facing Sentencing by Haidian District Court in Beijing

    The couple Mr. Liu Xigong and Ms. Le Xiuwen were arrested on Xinkou Street, Beijing on December 19th, 2009. Their home was also ransacked on the same day; the police confiscated many personal belongings including Falun Gong books, and an MP3 player. The elderly couple were sent to Xicheng District Detention Centre first, transferred to Beijing No. 1 Detention Centre, and later taken to Haidian District Court. During their detention, Mr. Liu Xigong had to be taken to a medical facility for emergency care. However, officials from Haidian District Court have refused to allow Mr. Liu's relatives to visit him or to release him. Haidian District Court held a hearing for the couple on June 2nd, 2010.
  • Details of the Persecution of Ms. Wang Xia

    Ms. Wang Xia has been frequently persecuted for believing in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the tenets of Falun Gong. Detained in Huhehaote City Detention Centre and the Women's Prison, she was brutally tortured, including having her fingers stabbed with needles, having her hands and feet tied on a bed for a long period of time, being beaten, being cursed at and force fed urine, having bright lights projected into her eye, and so on.
  • Mr. Deng Chengkai and Ms. Liu Tao Subjected to Heavy Sentencing

    Police arrested four practitioners including Mr. Deng Chengkai, Mr. Zhong Shikai, Ms. Liu Tao and Ms. Xiao Shifeng in June 2009. Recently, Deng Chengkai and Liu Tao were sentenced to eight years and six years of imprisonment, respectively. Before this arrest, Mr. Deng Chengkai had already been subjected to imprisonment twice. While being detained in Xinhua Forced Labour Camp in Jinyang City, he was subjected to brainwashing, corporal punishment and various forms of torture. In order to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] him, the guards once forced him to squat down on the ground for two days straight without allowing him to go to the toilet.
  • After Eight Years of Unjust Imprisonment, Mr. Pang You Is Again Wrongly Sentenced to a Further Four Years in Prison

    Mr. Pang You was sentenced to four years in prison by the Beijing Chaoyang District Court. This is the second time Mr. Pang has been sentenced. The convicting evidence included 75 Falun Gong DVDs, 70 flyers, and 167 one-yuan bills with positive messages about Falun Gong written on them. Mr. Pang had been recently released from Beijing Qianjin Prison after serving an eight-year term. He was arrested again in August 2009. His wife, Ms. Guo, was also tortured for over a month in the Beijing Chaoyang District Detention Centre and is now being monitored at home.
  • Decorated Police Officer Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Practising Falun Gong

    On April 28th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Zhiyong, once named the "Best Police Officer" of Heishui County, Sichuan Province, was sentenced to four years in prison after being detained for more than two months. The Heishui County Court announced the sentence without the presence of a lawyer and without any evidence, or legal basis. On September 19th, 2009, Lu Zhiyong visited his mother. On his way home, he was arrested by policemen who had been following him. Lu Zhiyong was so seriously beaten that he passed out. He regained consciousness after two days.
  • 610 Office in Xichang City, Sichuan Province Blocks the Public from Attending Trial of Falun Gong Practitioners

    The 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Xichang City, Sichuan Province ordered the Xichang City Court to try four Falun Gong practitioners on May 13th, 2010. A few days before the May 13th trial, the 610 Office notified top officials at work sites and communities where practitioners are known to live and work to prevent people from going to the proceedings. The entrances into the court were monitored. Officials from various workplaces and communities were posted at the door, responsible for preventing people that they knew from their areas from entering.
  • Oppression by Li Gongming and Guards at Shandong Province Second Forced Labour Camp

    From February 23rd to March 3rd, 2010, political instructor Li Gongming at the Shandong Provincial 2nd Forced Labour Camp demanded that practitioner Mr. Wang Yuping renounce Falun Gong. He handcuffed Mr. Wang for nine consecutive days from 7 a.m. until midnight. In addition, Mr. Wang was handcuffed to the bed at night, and forbidden to go to the toilet. On February 28th, guard Zhang Ruimin began using brainwashing tactics on Mr. Wang Shiyou; he forced him to watch slanderous TV programmes. Mr. Wang refused to watch, so Zhang dragged him out of the cell by his ear, punched him in the chin and chest, shocked him, beat his face, kicked his legs and continued to kick him after he fell to the ground.

    After July 20th, 1999, the communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong. I saw information of my mum's arrest. I learned from the Internet that agents violently broke into my home, confiscated the Falun Gong book, Zhuan Falun. My 90-year-old grandma was so scared, she got sick. They wanted to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] my mum, and would not let her come home. Only my sister was home. They tried to force her to tell them where I was, but my sister does not know my whereabouts. I know that they are looking for me everywhere.
  • Zhang Xingcai from Yanbian, Jilin Province Arrested and Detained

    61-year-old Mr. Zhang Xingcai was arrested by officers from the National Security Team on January 16th, 2010, while visiting the home of Falun Gong practitioner Yin Fengqin, who later died under highly suspicious circumstances during an attempted arrest. Zhang was sent to a brainwashing centre the same day, and later sentenced to forced labour at the Jiutai Forced Labour Camp. When the labour camp refused him for not passing the physical exam, he was sent to the Changchun Public Security Hospital in Jilin Province, where he has gone on a hunger strike and is being severely persecuted. Mr. Zhang has been arrested several times since the start of the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party on July 20th, 1999.
  • Ms. Song Fenzhen Sent to Forced Labour Camp Ten Days after Being Arrested

    On May 3rd, 2010, Ms. Song Fenzhen, from Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, was arrested while shopping. Afterwards, her family received a notification saying she would be detained for fifteen days and released on May 18th. On May 15th, Ms. Song's family received a shocking message saying she had been sent to a forced labour camp for a one-year term. However, her family had no knowledge regarding when she was sent away or why she was sent to a forced labour camp. Ms. Song Fenzhen had previously gone to Tiananmen Square to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. Her son was young at the time and her husband divorced her because he could not bear such huge persecutory pressure from the authorities.
