  • Five Practitioners from Jiutai City, Jilin Province Sentenced to Prison

    The Jiutai City Court tried and sentenced five Falun Gong practitioners to prison on December 13th. Before the trial, the court called in many police officers in the Jiutai area, and they were dispatched around the courthouse. During the trial, the judge only asked a couple of simple questions, and then read the verdict in court and hastily ended the trial. Ms. Tan Guohua and Ms. Li Jie were sentenced to three years in prison, Ms. Yong Xian and Ms. Lu Guixia were sentenced to four years, and Ms. Wei Caiyan was sentenced to three and a half years.
  • Mr. Kou Chuangjin from Qingyang City, Gansu Province, Put on Trial

    On November 10th, 2011, Xifeng District Court in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, put Mr. Kou Chuangjin on trial. The trail lasted from 9:00 till 11:00 a.m. Mr. Kou’s daughter cried the entire time. Ever since Mr. Kou has been incarcerated, his family members have been denied the right to visit him. To make matters worse, his wife, Li Ruihua, has had to leave home and become destitute to avoid being arrested by the Xifeng police.
  • Shuangcheng Police Arrest Ten Falun Gong Practitioners for “Disturbing the Peace,” Despite the Fact That the Practitioners Were at Home

    Police officers from Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang Province, arrested more than ten Falun Gong practitioners and ransacked their homes between December 7th and 12th. In one day alone, in what seems to have been a stepped up attack on the peaceful Falun Gong, officers from the Heilongjiang Police Department, the Harbin Police Department, and the Shuangcheng Domestic Security Division arrested 56 practitioners on November 13th.
  • Practitioners Song Zhiyu and Wang Yaheng Sent to Prison, Their Attorneys Beaten and Arrested

    Mr. Song Zhiyu and Mr. Wang Yaheng were recently each sentenced to three and a half years in prison and sent to the Baoanzhao Prison in Xingan Meng, Inner Mongolia. In order to prevent their attorneys from defending them, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police beat the attorneys and arrested them before the hearings.
  • Many Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Beijing by Officers Switching off Electricity Supply

    Around 7:00 p.m. on November 17th, many Beijing practitioners were arrested. To lure the practitioners outside, the officers switched off their electricity. At this time we know that seven practitioners were arrested and their homes ransacked. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hou Yongchun was taken to a detention centre. However, he was not accepted by the detention centre because of high blood pressure. The police released him and he has returned home.
  • Mr. Kou Chuangjin's Attorney Pleads Not Guilty in Second Hearing

    On December 1st, the Xifeng District Court in Qingyang City, Gansu Province held a second hearing of the charges brought against 60-year-old Mr. Kou Chuangiin. Mr. Kou's attorney, brought in to defend him, pleaded not guilty on his behalf. All of those present in the courtroom were thus provided with an opportunity to learn about both the goodness of Falun Gong, and about the brutal truth of the persecution that Falun Gong adherents face under China's communist regime.
  • Mr. Liu Haiqiang Pleaded Not Guilty, Still Sentenced to Prison

    On June 29th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Haiqiang was arrested at home by police. Mr. Liu was detained at the Xinji Detention Centre. The Xinji City Court secretly tried Mr. Liu twice without notifying his family. Mr. Liu pleaded not guilty in court. He said, “Freedom of belief is every citizen's right. I practise Falun Gong and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person. I'm not guilty. I produce informational materials about Falun Gong for those who don't have Internet access, to let them know the truth about Falun Gong. I don't need to tell you how many leaflets I made or who I gave them to. If I tell you, you will go persecute them. What I have done is legal and legitimate." However, on December 15th, Mr. Liu was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Xinzheng City in Henan Province Sentenced to Prison

    Ms. Chen Xihong, Ms. Jia Jinhui, Ms. Zhang Shuling and Ms. Chen Xiaoni were arrested by police on the night of October 15th, 2010 because they practise Falun Gong. In May 2011, they were sentenced to between three and three and a quarter years in prison. During the fourteen months when the practitioners were detained in Xinzheng Detention Centre, they were made to do forced labour, working for more than ten hours a day gluing paper boxes. This form of work is actually against the detention centre rules. But whenever government officials went to visit or inspect the detention centre, the products and work tools were removed and hidden from view.
  • Mr. Jiang Xuefu and His Wife Sentenced

    The Dehui City Court held a second hearing for Mr. Jiang Xuefu and his wife Zhang Yu on November 15th, and sentenced them each to four years of imprisonment. Mr. Jiang was sent to Shiling Prison in Siping City, and Ms. Zhang was sent to Heizuizi Women’s Prison in Changchun City. On the afternoon of March 4th, 2011, Mr. Jiang Xuefu and his wife, Ms. Zhang Yu, were arrested one after the other, by Domestic Security Division officers from the Dehui Police Department and the Changchun Police Department. Valuable personal property was taken from their home. Their daughter was left alone at home, with no one to take care of her.
  • Tongchuan District Court in Dazhou Sentences Five Practitioners to Prison

    The Tongchuan District Court tried five practitioners on December 21st, and issued sentences on December 28. Ms. Tao Dafeng, in her 60s, was sentenced to ten years in prison; Ms. Xia Bi, in her 50s, was sentenced to eight years; Ms. Li Lei, 45, and Mr. Ran Wenxue, in his 60s, were both sentenced to five years; and Ms. Guo Defen, in her 60s, was sentenced to a three-year term.
  • Mr. Zheng Deming's Self-Defence in Court

    Mr. Zheng Deming, 66, was first arrested on New Year's Day in 2000, as he practised the Falun Gong exercises in a park. He was sentenced to three years in prison. He was again sentenced, this time to seven years in prison, from 2002 to 2009, and was incarcerated in the Chaohu City Prison. He was arrested on June 24th, 2011, by officers from the Haozhou Street Police Station and the Luyang District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Domestic Security Team, and detained in Hefei City Second Detention Centre. The Luyang District Court tried him on December 13th, without notifying his family.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Zhenying of Jixi City Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison

    Ms. Li Zhenying, 55, began practising Falun Gong in the summer of 1998. Since the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, she has been arrested, beaten, and tortured several times. Ms. Li was sentenced to eleven years in prison in 2003, and was taken to Heilongjiang Women's Prison on March 10th, 2004. She is currently being held in the No. 11 Ward of the prison. Ms. Li has been sometimes deprived of sleep for long periods of time. When she refused to wear the prison uniform and went on hunger strike to protest the persecution, the guards ordered inmates to viciously beat her and force-feed her. She was then put in solitary confinement.
  • Mr. Qiu Ming Arrested and Sent to Detention Centre by Officers from Shanghai Domestic Security Division

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qiu Ming was arrested by officers from Shanghai Domestic Security Division and detained at the Pudong District Detention Centre on December 18th. When Mr. Qiu distributed some materials to let people know about the facts of Falun Gong in July 2009, he was arrested by police officers from Shanghai Police Station. The head of the Domestic Security Division immediately went to the place where he was arrested. They arranged to have police officers stake out the location, waiting to arrest more practitioners. Later on, they took Qiu to the Domestic Security Division, framed him on trumped up charges, and sent him to the detention centre for further abuse.
  • Harbin Police Officers Arrest a Practitioner's Son as a Hostage, Later Arrest the Mother and Several Others

    Four police officers broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Yuhua in the afternoon on December 20th. Ms. Guo wasn't at home, so the police arrested her son and took him as a hostage. Later on, the police called Ms. Guo and demanded that she come to the police station to replace her son. Ms. Guo was worried about her son and went to the police station. She was arrested and hasn't returned home since. Recently, many practitioners in the Hulan District have been arrested and persecuted.
  • Seven Practitioners in the Tongren Area in Guizhou Province Sentenced

    Seven practitioners from the Tongren Area of Guizhou Province were sentenced to prison: Mr. Jiang Qirong, to five years; Mr. Jiang's wife, three years; Jue Daoyin, four years; Ms. Huang Meixian, two years; Yao Xinping, two years; Ms. Long Zhenping, in her 40s, one and a half years; and Mr. Yang Hang, ten months. In August 2010, many banners reading “Falun Gong is good!” “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” appeared in the Tongren Area. Local police arrested several practitioners, and some have been held in the Xieqiao Detention Centre in Tongren City.
