Ms. Song Guiyun, in Her Seventies, Subjected to Continuous Persecution and Sentenced to Three Plus Years of Imprisonment

The Fumeng County Court recently sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Guiyun, who is in her 70s, to prison. Song Guiyun was arrested on December 11th, 2010 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong and exposed the persecution. Ms. Song has been arrested many times since the Chinese Communist Party started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999. She was subjected to detention many times, and has been held in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison, Masanjia Forced Labour Camp and the Fuxin County Detention Centre. She was detained in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison for three years. -
Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Brutally Tortures Female Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-03-20The guards at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, located in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, brutally torture female Falun Gong practitioners to try to force them to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Miao Fenglan, who is over 60 years old, was subjected to the stretching torture. On December 6th, 2010, four guards dragged her by the hair and forced her to squat. They dragged her with her head down and cuffed her hands to the ends of two beds. The four guards then stood on both sides and pulled the beds apart, stretching Ms. Miao's arms until she fainted. The skin on her hands flaked off, and she had very little control over her arm as a result of this torture. -
Ms. Zhang Peiyun in Critical Condition in Chengdu's Longquanyi Women's Prison
2011-03-20The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Peiyun to nine years and six months of imprisonment at the beginning of 2006. She has been detained in the Longquanyi Women's Prison. She has been severely persecuted and is currently in critical condition. The prison has refused to release her. The prison refused to let Ms. Zhang receive visits from friends and relatives, or receive clothes from them. She fainted in the prison due to bleeding haemorrhoids on Chinese New Year's Eve in February 2011. Prior to that time, she hadn't been able to eat, due to illness. -
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Uses its Annual “Two Congress” Get-Together as an Excuse to Intensify Persecuting Falun Gong
2011-03-19The biggest annual Chinese Communist Party meetings come on the day when the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) are held. This year, they were held on March 3rd. In the days running up to the meetings, mass arrests of people labelled as “dissidents” were carried out throughout China. In order to distract public focus on major social problems, the police and 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) issued orders to intensify the monitoring and persecution of Falun Gong. According to information from the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, from the beginning of January to March 7th, 2011, at least 470 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. Many more were followed, surveilled, and harassed by the authorities. -
Earthquake Survivor Persecuted for Her Belief
2011-03-19Ms. Liu Guijin was one of the lucky survivors of the 1976 Tangshan Earthquake, which claimed 240,000 lives. However, at 26 years of age, she was left paralyzed. She recovered completely after she began practising Falun Gong in 1994. The Communist party began persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999 and officials tried to get her to renounce her belief. She refused and was brutally tortured. The abusers once put her into 9 kg [19.8 lbs] shackles for 20 days, injuring her legs in the process. The police arrested her for the third time at her home on May 13th, 2008. She was subsequently sentenced to two years in a labour camp and covertly taken to Masanjia Labour Camp, right before the 2008 Olympics Games. -
Qu Fengxiang Arrested and Brutally Tortured
2011-03-19Mr. Qu Fengxiang was arrested by police officer Yu Yang on October 14th, 2010. Yu pretended that he was a student's father and chatted with Mr. Qu. Mr. Qu gave him a Falun Gong DVD. Yu and two other police officers, who waited outside, then arrested him. Yu brutally beat Mr. Qu in the head, chest and lower body, and then threw him to the ground and handcuffed him. Police took Mr. Qu to Haidian District Detention Centre. Guards injected Mr. Qu with some unknown drug, then threw him on a bed and shocked him with electric batons. Mr. Qu was brutally tortured for a total of 43 days. He was then sent to the Xin'an Forced Labour Camp, but because he was so weak from the torture, the labour camp refused to accept him. -
Facts about the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners from Meizhou, Guangdong Province
2011-03-19During the persecution of Falun Gong, practitioners from Meizhou City, Guangdong Province have often been taken to brainwashing centres, forced labour camps or prisons. Mr. Liu Tong is a physics teacher. On November 25th, 2010, after he received a call from a fellow practitioner requesting Falun Gong materials, he went to deliver the materials to a place near Mei County High School at Gangzishan in Meizhou City. He was taken away by policemen who were waiting for him. A dozen policemen from Meijiang District ransacked his home and took away his computer and other personal belongings. He was detained in the Dapu County Detention Centre. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. An Ling from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province Imprisoned for Seven Years
2011-03-18Falun Gong practitioner An Ling was arrested at home by police in November 2001. She was sentenced to seven years in prison in February 2002. She was imprisoned in the Harbin Women's Prison and suffered from brutal beatings and torture. She recounts: "I was forced to get up at five every morning and sit in the classroom all day, where guards tried to force me to renounce practising Falun Gong. I was not allowed to move except to go to the toilet. I had to sleep between two prisoners. Because of prolonged sitting on the hard bench, I was very weak. My right leg was stiff and each step was very painful. Even so, guard team leader Zheng Jie told the prisoners to take me to the workshop for forced labour in the morning and bring me back to the prison room at 8 to 9 p.m." -
Falun Gong Practitioner Liao Yuanmei from Huaihua, Hunan Province Passes Away--Cause of Death Under Investigation
2011-03-18Falun Gong practitioner Liao Yuanmei was arrested and persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) many times since the persecution started. Her family had hatred towards her because they believed the CCP propaganda that slandered Falun Gong. In January 2011, Liao Yuanmei’s bloody body was found near her apartment. Liao Yuanmei’s relatives and her fellow practitioners are looking for the cause of her death. -
Ms. Luo Changyun, 57, Sentenced to Prison After Being Held in a Forced Labour Camp Three Times
2011-03-18Ms. Luo Cahngyun has been sentenced to a forced labour camp three times, and was put on probation once. She was severely tortured in the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Luo was put on a wanted list prior to the 2008 Olympics, and was arrested in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, and sentenced to five years in prison. Ms. Luo Changyun is currently being detained in the Ninth Ward of the Shaanxi Women's Prison, where she is being tortured. The long-term abuse has severely damaged Ms. Luo's mental and physical health. -
Persecution Suffered by Ms. Yuan Xiangfan Before Her Death in 2003
2011-03-18Ms. Yuan Xiangfan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was sent to a detention centre and brainwashing centre by police. Policemen and inmates tortured her severely. She was forced to kneel or stand on one leg for long periods of time. She also had her hands and feet shackled to a chair for five days. In the Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shibalihe, Ms. Yuan was severely beaten by drug addicts. When she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, she was force-fed by over half a dozen people numerous times. Ms. Yuan Xiangfan died on August 9th, 2003, after being severely tortured for two years. -
Older Practitioner Mr. Liu Chuanjiang the Third Practitioner to Die within Two Weeks in Jiamusi Prison
2011-03-17Mr. Liu Chuanjiang died in Jiamusi Prison on March 8th, 2011, shortly after Mr. Qin Yueming died on February 26th and Mr. Yu Yungang on March 5th. All three practitioners had been held since February 21st in the “Strict Management Ward” before their deaths. Mr. Liu Chuanjiang was sentenced for practising Falun Gong by Wuyiling Intermediate Court on November 5th, 2008. First held in the ninth ward in Jiamusi Prison, he was put in the “Strict Management Ward” on February 21st, 2011. It is highly likely that he was severely tortured and left in critical condition. -
Ms. Sun Fudi from Dalian City Incarcerated and Brutally Tortured
2011-03-17Ms. Sun, 57, was arrested in June 2009 and held at a detention centre for over 50 days. Her family were not allowed to visit her. She was sentenced to two years in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. The guards brutally tortured her and forced her to remain in strenuous positions for long periods of time. She was also handcuffed and punched in the face. The guards made her listen to slanderous propaganda about Falun Gong. Ms. Sun was diagnosed with excess fluid in her abdomen in March 2010. In order to avoid being held responsible for her poor health, camp officials released Ms. Sun on April 20th, 2010. -
65-Year-Old Lanzhou Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhang Guilan Abused Numerous Times in Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre
2011-03-17Ms. Zhang Guilan, a Falun Gong practitioner in Lanzhou City, was sent to Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre three times by local 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). As a result, she was abused both physically and mentally in addition to having money extorted from her. The second time Ms. Zhang was sent to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre, guards abused her for eight months. They exposed Ms. Zhang to the burning sun for three days, and handcuffed her to a heating pipe for 11 hours. They deprived her sleep and use of the toilet, and did not allow her anything to drink. As a result, Ms. Zhang’s face was severely swollen, and she could hardly open her eyes. -
Persecution Suffered by Ms. Huang Yulan from Huangmei County, Hubei Province
2011-03-17On October 10th, 2007, Ms. Huang Yulan was arrested by police when she distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Six police officers pushed her to the floor. Police officer Hu Baohua and Chen Ming stepped on her, digging into her flesh and grinding down with their feet. It was excruciating. Hu Baohua gnashed his teeth and said, “You said I am a bad police officer, so today I will beat you to death.” Then they beat her more fiercely until she nearly lost her consciousness.
