Ms. Jia Guilan, 69, Tortured at Heilongjiang Women's Prison

Sixty-nine-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Guilan was arrested for her belief in April 2009. While detained in Ward 9 of the Heilongjiang Women's Prison, she was subjected to extremely inhumane torture. The guards assigned criminal inmates to closely monitor Ms. Jia around the clock. Their job was to force Ms. Jia to sit on a small plastic stool daily, from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Her back had to be straight, hands on knees, and her legs had to form a 90-degree angle. She had to remain in this posture for 17 hours straight. The inmates brought her meals, so she did not have any chance move. The stool she sat on had a rough texture. After a long time of sitting, her buttocks became badly bruised, the skin was broken, and blood soaked her trousers. -
After Being Detained in Forced Labour Camp for One Year, Mr. Xia Dong and His Wife Are Sentenced to Forced Labor and Held in Detention Centres
2012-02-03Ms. Yan Xiaoyue and her husband Xia Dong were arrested by officers from the Jiulongpo 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), on August 11th, and in November 2010, respectively. The couple was sent to forced labour camps for one-year terms. Mr. Xia was detained in the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp, while his wife Ms. Yan was held in the Shimahe Forced Labour Camp. Recently, when their terms had supposedly ended, the couple was transferred from the forced labour camps back to the Huayan Detention Centre. -
Failing to Arrest an Outstanding Teacher, Police in Sandong Province Arrest Her Husband Instead
2012-02-03Seven or eight police officers broke into a residential house on the morning of November 21st, 2010, in an attempt to arrest Ms. Ma Qin, an outstanding teacher. When they discovered that Ms. Ma was not home, they took her husband to the Taishan Road Police Station and locked him up for a day. Ms. Ma Qin only practised Falun Gong for five to six years. All her chronic diseases disappeared without medication after she began to practise. She set the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance as her standards, worked conscientiously, and willingly bore the burden at work, therefore, she was well respected by her students and highly praised by their parents as the only teacher in the development zone who did not accept gifts. -
Mr. Zhao Xianghai Handcuffed and Shackled to a Bed and Injected with Unknown Substances at Xiangtan Mental Hospital
2012-02-02Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Xianghai is currently incarcerated in the Patient Department of the Xiangtan City Fifth Hospital (Mental Hospital) in Hunan Province. He is being held in Ward No. 2, the first room to the left behind the second layer of metal gates. Mr. Zhao is handcuffed and shackled to a metal bed all day long. -
Sexual Assault of a Male Practitioner and Other Atrocities at the Handan City Labour Camp
2012-02-02A severe sexual assault of Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Wang Gang, occurred on December 30th at the Handan City Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province. The camp officials are now attempting to keep the incident from being exposed. Guard Xing Yansheng forced him to write statements to give up his practice. Mr. Wang was unable to sleep at night since then and often talked to himself. Under instruction from the guards, inmates often bullied and beat him. The guards handcuffed Mr. Wang to heating pipes three times. -
Retired Farm Worker Dies after Being Tortured in Heilongjiang Women's Prison
2012-02-01Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Bixu, 66, was arrested for explaining the facts about Falun Gong on August 4th, 2008. She was later sentenced to three and half years in prison and was incarcerated in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. In 2011, she was hospitalised for about seven months in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison Hospital. The prison authorities refused to release her. In January 2011, Ms. Zhao was again hospitalised for some time. She died on January 14th, 2012. -
Yan Yuhua from Nanjing Arrested Again and Her Whereabouts Unknown
2012-02-01Ms. Yan Yuhua was arrested by police and persecuted in detention centres, labour camps, and prisons due to her refusal to give up her belief in Falun Gong. On November 20th, 2011, she was arrested and sent to the Nanjing Women's Prison. This happened less than one month after she returned home. Her current whereabouts are unknown. -
Ms. Song Caihong from Xingcheng, Liaoning Province, Again Persecuted to the Brink of Death
2012-01-31On December 30th, 2011, Ms. Song Caihong was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Huludao Detention Centre that night. In just a few days Ms. Song, who originally weighed about 130 pounds, became emaciated. She was beaten many times by guards because she would not give her name and shouted that “Falun Gong is good!” Ms. Song vomited blood and could not eat at that time. A few days ago, guards brutally beat Ms. Song again. As a result, her kidney was injured and she had symptoms of acute uraemia. -
My Personal Experience of Being Persecuted for 11 Years
2012-01-31The communist regime has persecuted me for 11 years, and harmed my family tremendously. After hearing that I was sentenced to nine years, my elderly father could not sleep for two weeks and was constantly afraid of the police. After my release from prison, I met my 20-year-old son at a railway station. We could not recognise each other. -
Courageously Upholding Their Belief, Young Women in China Endure Severe Persecution
2012-01-30The persecution suffered by Ms. Zhang Xiaoli and her sister Zhang Yueqi, Ms. Xu Lu, Ms. Wang Yujie and Ms. Hu Miaomiao are but a few examples of many cases of young women subjected to severe persecution simply because they wish to practise Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. These young girls have experienced insult and torture throughout what should be the best time of their lives. They suffered just because they persisted in their belief and clarified the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. The Chinese Communist regime is persecuting innocent young people and violating the rights of all Chinese citizens. -
Practitioners Held for One Year before Secret Trial in Jiaonan City Court--Families Not Notified, Lawyers Not Allowed
2012-01-30From August 23rd to September 1st, 2011, the Jiaonan Court of Shandong Province sentenced Falun Gong practitioners Xing Huaiping, Liu Meiqin, Fu Aixian, Zhang Xiuhua, and Zhang Shuhua during a court session held inside the Qingdao Dashan Detention Centre. The practitioners’ families were not notified and the court rejected the practitioners’ lawyers efforts to represent them at the hearing. -
Five Practitioners from Jiutai City, Jilin Province Sentenced to Prison
2012-01-29The Jiutai City Court tried and sentenced five Falun Gong practitioners to prison on December 13th. Before the trial, the court called in many police officers in the Jiutai area, and they were dispatched around the courthouse. During the trial, the judge only asked a couple of simple questions, and then read the verdict in court and hastily ended the trial. Ms. Tan Guohua and Ms. Li Jie were sentenced to three years in prison, Ms. Yong Xian and Ms. Lu Guixia were sentenced to four years, and Ms. Wei Caiyan was sentenced to three and a half years. -
Mr. Kou Chuangjin from Qingyang City, Gansu Province, Put on Trial
2012-01-29On November 10th, 2011, Xifeng District Court in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, put Mr. Kou Chuangjin on trial. The trail lasted from 9:00 till 11:00 a.m. Mr. Kou’s daughter cried the entire time. Ever since Mr. Kou has been incarcerated, his family members have been denied the right to visit him. To make matters worse, his wife, Li Ruihua, has had to leave home and become destitute to avoid being arrested by the Xifeng police. -
Mrs. Zhao Guichun from Chifeng Detained and on Hunger Strike for Several Days
2012-01-28Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Zhao Guichun has been forced to become homeless and destitute as a result of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. On the night of December 7th, she was arrested in her hometown in Laoguandi Town by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police. On January 9th, from an insider, Mrs. Zhao's family verified that Mrs. Zhao had been on a protest hunger strike for a long time and her current condition was worrying. The guards have all along created a lot of difficulty for her family and have not allow them to visit her. -
Engineer Mr. Lu Haixing Killed in Jinzhong Prison
2012-01-28On January 10th, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Haixing died in Jinzhong Prison at the age of 45. According to the practitioners who have been incarcerated in Jinzhong Prison, the prison authorities deliberately designated inmates who are wicked and merciless to monitor and torture Falun Gong practitioners. The main methods of torture included: 1. brutal brainwashing, monitoring around the clock, verbal abuse, forced labour; 2. solitary confinement, being locked in a strictly managed ward indefinitely, long-term standing or sitting, beatings, deprivation of sleep, shackling and handcuffing.
