  • 62-Year-Old Ms. Jiang Jingping Dies as a Result of Injuries Sustained Through Torture in a Heilongjiang Province Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Jiang Jingping was tortured both mentally and physically for one year in the Heilongjiang Province Women Drug Rehabilitation Centre, a labour camp in Harbin City. After returning and being at home for only one month, she died as a result of the torture she suffered in the forced labour camp on November 30th, aged 62.
  • Mr. Liu Haiqiang Pleaded Not Guilty, Still Sentenced to Prison

    On June 29th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Haiqiang was arrested at home by police. Mr. Liu was detained at the Xinji Detention Centre. The Xinji City Court secretly tried Mr. Liu twice without notifying his family. Mr. Liu pleaded not guilty in court. He said, “Freedom of belief is every citizen's right. I practise Falun Gong and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person. I'm not guilty. I produce informational materials about Falun Gong for those who don't have Internet access, to let them know the truth about Falun Gong. I don't need to tell you how many leaflets I made or who I gave them to. If I tell you, you will go persecute them. What I have done is legal and legitimate." However, on December 15th, Mr. Liu was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Xinzheng City in Henan Province Sentenced to Prison

    Ms. Chen Xihong, Ms. Jia Jinhui, Ms. Zhang Shuling and Ms. Chen Xiaoni were arrested by police on the night of October 15th, 2010 because they practise Falun Gong. In May 2011, they were sentenced to between three and three and a quarter years in prison. During the fourteen months when the practitioners were detained in Xinzheng Detention Centre, they were made to do forced labour, working for more than ten hours a day gluing paper boxes. This form of work is actually against the detention centre rules. But whenever government officials went to visit or inspect the detention centre, the products and work tools were removed and hidden from view.
  • Three Senior Citizens Persecuted in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia

    On November 11th, Mr. Temule was arrested by local police, and his home, along with the home of Ms. Ji Liping, were then ransacked. In the days following Mr. Temule's arrest, both of their families were harassed by police. Ms. Ji Liping is now missing, and it is believed that she was arrested on November 16th. On November 17th, Ms. Qi Lingyue (Mr. Temule's wife) was also thought to have been arrested. Their whereabouts are currently unknown.
  • The Life and Death Experiences of a Persecuted Primary Inspector

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fu Rufang, 59 years old, was the principal inspector at the Tongnan County Disease Control Centre; she is now retired. Before she began cultivating Falun Gong, she suffered from serious illnesses. In June 1996, after she began practising Falun Gong, all her diseases were gone. However, when the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong, Tongnan County diseases control centre officials coordinated with the police to persecute Ms. Fu. Throughout the more than ten years she has been persecuted, she has been imprisoned and tortured many times.
  • Unjustly Sentenced to Eight and a Half Years in Prison, Musician Mr. Jin Yuan Is in Critical Condition

    On June 24th, 2011, Mr. Jin Yuan, 52, former musician with the Anhui Province Song and Dance Troupe from Zhuhai, was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison by the Xiangzhou District Court in Zhuhai City. He is presently detained in Yangjiang Prison and he is in a precarious situation. Mr. Jin was previously arrested in 2001, brutally beaten up, tortured, and sent to a forced labour camp for three years.
  • Ms. Xu Jianxin Severely Beaten by Agents from 610 Office and Taken to Forced Labour Camp

    Officials at the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) called for a meeting with all the residential committees in Weifang in early June 2011, and ordered them to submit a list of Falun Gong practitioners in their area. Agents from the 610 Office then arrested practitioners on June 27th based on the compiled lists. Ms. Xu Jianxin, in her 60s, was one of them and was taken to a brainwashing centre. 610 Office agents beat Ms. Xu at the brainwashing centre and tried to extort a lot of money from her. Angered by her refusal, they took her to the Second Women's Forced Labour Camp in Wangcun in August 2011. She is still being held at the camp.
  • Mr. Zhang Su from Wuhan Arrested and Detained for Half a Year; His Family Is Under Severe Stress

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Su was arrested by officers from the Wuhan Domestic Security Division on May 5th, 2011. His family was not informed of his arrest and did not know of his whereabouts. They filed a missing person's report at police stations and sent a formal complaint to the Hubei Procuratorate and Wuhan Procuratorate. It is now known that after Mr. Zhang was arrested on May 5th, and he was taken to Hubei Province “Legal and Educational Centre,” which is actually a brainwashing centre, the same day. Mr. Zhang refused to comply with the guards' orders, and on May 8th he was handcuffed, kicked and beaten by guards. He was subjected to brainwashing sessions all day, every day, until 9:00 p.m. Unknown drugs were put into his food, causing him to develop abnormal conditions.
  • Forced Labour Camp Deprives Ms. Li Xiuying of Visits, Causing Her Family Concern

    On October 31st, Domestic security police officers arrested Ms. Li Xiuying because she talked to her relatives about Falun Gong. Ms. Li was sent to the Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong, Sichuan Province. The guards have not only prevented her attorney from visiting her, but have also not allowed visits from relatives. Her relatives are very worried about her. Ms. Li's family has reason to worry. To date, 14 Falun Gong practitioners have died as a result of being persecuted in Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp.
  • Family Members of Falun Gong Practitioners Ignore Threats from Chinese Communist Authorities and Stand Up to Protest the Persecution

    The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) brutal suppression over the past 12 years has caused resentment among the general public. Currently there are many lawyers that will defend Falun Gong practitioners with a not-guilty plea. More and more people advocate an immediate end to the persecution. There is an increasing number of practitioners' family members that have the courage, despite the totalitarian environment, to sue the police that torture practitioners.
  • Mr. Jiang Xuefu and His Wife Sentenced

    The Dehui City Court held a second hearing for Mr. Jiang Xuefu and his wife Zhang Yu on November 15th, and sentenced them each to four years of imprisonment. Mr. Jiang was sent to Shiling Prison in Siping City, and Ms. Zhang was sent to Heizuizi Women’s Prison in Changchun City. On the afternoon of March 4th, 2011, Mr. Jiang Xuefu and his wife, Ms. Zhang Yu, were arrested one after the other, by Domestic Security Division officers from the Dehui Police Department and the Changchun Police Department. Valuable personal property was taken from their home. Their daughter was left alone at home, with no one to take care of her.
  • Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Agents Frequently Harass Practitioners in Rushan City, Shandong Province

    Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members from Rushan City, Shandong Province have harassed practitioners over and over again. They have broken into and ransacked the homes of practitioners and robbed them. On December 16th, two men went to the home of Ms. Tang Yingli. They didn't introduce themselves or show any identification. They asked Ms. Tang if she was still practising Falun Gong. Once Ms. Tang gave an affirmative answer, they called for another two partners. Without any explanation, they robbed her home, and plundered her computer, printer, mobile phone, Falun Gong books, and materials exposing the persecution. They called her husband at work, ordered him home, forced him to sign a document, and threatened him to stay home and be ready for questions in the following days.
  • Mr. Gong Fangli, 37, Dies Suddenly While in Custody of Huadian City Detention Centre

    On October 26th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gong Fangli was arrested by police. Mr. Gong was taken to the Huadian Detention Centre and detained for 14 months. He was deprived of family visitation the entire time. On December 28th, 2011, Mr. Gong's family was notified that Mr. Gong had been taken to Huadian Hospital. The family arrived at the hospital around 3:00 a.m., and Mr. Gong died at 5:00 a.m. Mr. Gong's death was devastating for his wife. She held their four-year-old child as tears covered her cheeks. The next day, December 29th, the detention centre authorities called Ms. Gong's wife in for a meeting. They claimed that Mr. Gong died of a heart attack resulting from natural causes. However, Mr. Gong was healthy before the arrest.
  • Ms. Wang Haiqing of Anqiu City, Shandong Province, Sentenced to 12-Year Term and Tortured in Prison

    Ms. Wang Haiqing started practising Falun Gong after the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started in 1999. Because Ms. Wang persisted in her faith and in telling people the truth about Falun Gong, she was sentenced to12 years in prison. After being imprisoned in the Anqiu City Detention Centre, Ms. Wang was handcuffed to an iron chair and was brutally force-fed, causing muscle atrophy and loss of feeling in her lower body. She had to lie on the ground and was unable to take care of herself. Currently, Ms. Wang is being brutally abused and persecuted in Shandong Women’s Prison.
  • Wuhan Police Arrest 70-Year-Old Country Woman; Neighbours Condemn Officers' Behaviour

    On November 1st, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dai Dezhen was arrested by police and taken to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Centre. Some brave neighbours have condemned the officers' behaviour. It is alleged that beatings of Falun Gong practitioners occur at the brainwashing centre every day. Torture methods often used are: slapping across the face, punching the head, slamming the body against the wall, gripping the throat, stamping on feet, beating with various objects, swearing, insulting, depriving of sleep, denying toilet use, forced long-term standing, hanging by handcuffs, shocking with electric batons, force-feeding, and more.
