The Social Democrats does view the Chinese regime’s attempt to implement the controversial “article 23” into the Hong Kong legislation with great concern. We’ll raise the issue with our EU collaborators as soon as the occasion arises.

'Apple Daily reported on December 9 that Hong Kong government officials often emphasise that the legislation of Article 23 of the Basic Law will only limit itself to defining some high-level crimes that ordinary citizens would not commit. However, a large group of lawyers are standing up and writing articles to expose the government's lies.'

"We do not want to see a security law belonging to China introduced in Hong Kong because state security in China means suppression of the freedom of Chinese citizens so that they cannot even express themselves without fear,"

According to Apple Daily's report on December 10, 2002, when people carefully read the Hong Kong Bar Association's response to the proposals to implement Article 23 of the Basic Law, most of them will agree that the government's legislative proposal would bring far-reaching harm to Hong Kong's legal system, and would gradually erode its citizens' rights and freedoms. Therefore, people should all say "No" to the legislative proposal, just as the Bar Association did.

'About 20,000 people have taken to the streets of Hong Kong in one of the biggest demonstrations in recent years to protest against planned anti-subversion legislation...Pro-democracy politicians and human rights activists have been joined by businessmen who fear the legislation could damage Hong Kong's role as a business centre because it might limit the exchange of financial information.'

However it hurts me to be separated from my family. My parents have been illegally detained many times. My mother has had to leave home in order to avoid the persecution and I am not able to see her, although I miss her very much...Every day, I felt depressed or even that it was too painful to live. I often felt that my mind was on the verge of collapse.

She was hung her up in the window. The heartless police threw cold water and urine on her for 7 hours. To increase her suffering, they also opened the window to freeze her...two policewomen hit her with their fists and kicked her with their boots. This defenceless woman was injured all over her body and her face was black and blue.

Dafa practitioners' procession moved forward solemnly and peacefully. With bright-coloured banners, peaceful music and a graceful demeanour, Dafa practitioners displayed the beauty of Falun Dafa and exposed the atrocity of the evil persecution.

This year's permits were approved within half an hour of applying! The police are always most helpful and gracious, as they know we will obey all the details of our permits and because of the peaceful nature of our activities, particularly our parades.
