to torture Liao without leaving marks, the policemen beat her chest, causing broken ribs and serious internal injuries, injected drugs to poison her, and caused her gums to fester by force-feeding her. Finally, on the night of October 3rd, Liao’s body began to suffer from shock and she was sent to the hospital where she died shortly afterwards.

It was clear that the Chinese government had applied pressure just before Jiang’s arrival, as three coaches arrived to partly block his view of practitioners. A few practitioners managed to move in front of the buses, however, and were in plain view of the motorcade.

He was under great mental duress. During the last two years, he often suffered from headaches, dizziness, and fainting spells...At that time, his voice was shaking and he could only speak broken sentences with no strength -- that was how scared and shocked he was. Due to the mental shock, extreme pressure and worrying about the safety of his wife, Shang Baolin fell sick and never recovered.

If he could not keep in place during the sitting, two criminal inmates would force him to by pricking him with steel nails. He was tortured for almost 10 months. Song suffered the extreme agony of back pain and poor health due to the tortures, and could hardly walk without help...After two weeks of torture, Jiang Hulin's health severely deteriorated. His legs were swollen and he was thin, nervous, confused and so physically weak that he was unable to walk.

Police instigate drug addicts to torture practitioners who do not yield by pulling their hair, plugging their mouths, tearing up their clothes, and punching and kicking them while holding their hands behind their backs...Police use electric batons to shock practitioners who have strong righteous thoughts and refuse to yield. They are scolded and beaten. Police often cuff practitioners to the frame of a window or in between the heads of two beds. Many develop edema in their legs, some have become delusional, and some develop scabies all over their bodies.

For every generation, for every individual caught up in the struggle between truthfulness, compassion and tolerance and lies, hatred and repression, the persecution is new, fresh and shocking. Each individual and each generation, wherever this struggle happens, must find its own way to stand up to oppression. But those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it.

"It isn't surprising that the urban masses in the ruined industrial heartland are angry with the health service in tatters and education in decline...Despair over unemployment angers many and official corruption helps to fuel their rage, especially when it involves unpaid wages or being cheated on redundancy agreements."

According to a recent study by the Rand Corp. think tank, China has about 46 million Internet users, while at least 25 people have been arrested in the past two years for online activities. And after a deadly fire in an Internet cafe in Beijing earlier this year, the authorities closed thousands of Internet cafes and demanded that those allowed to reopen install surveillance and firewall software to block [...] Web sites [that Jiang’s regime dislikes].

This is a cultivation story of a practitioner with righteous thoughts and righteous deeds. I would like to share it with everyone in hopes that it will encourage all of us.

We should be benevolent and considerate of others in clarifying the truth. Instead of speaking in an obscure way, we should consider people's mindsets and use different styles of language to speak to different types of people.
