| · Russia: Residents of Petrozavodsk Condemn the Chinese Communist Regime’s Persecution of Falun Gong
| On February 17th 2007, Russian Falun Gong practitioners gathered at the business centre of Petrozavodsk, a city in northern Russia, despite the chilly weather and blizzards, to tell people about the Chinese Communist regime’s persecution against Falun Gong, as well as expose the vile regime’s atrocities of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit. | | | Russian Falun Gong practitioners explain about the persecution to people in Petrozavodsk |
  | | | | After hearing about the persecution people wanted to sign the petition calling for it to end | A local TV station interviews a Falun Gong practitioner | Though the temperature was very cold, local people still wanted to know about the persecution. They attentively viewed the poster display boards and listened to practitioners explain the facts about the Chinese Communist regime’s human rights crimes. After learning about the persecution, they condemned the Chinese regime’s atrocities and signed the petition to support the anti-persecution activity. After learning about the persecution, some people from nearby cities invited Falun Gong practitioners to hold similar activities in their cities, saying that people there are very kind and would support Falun Gong. Some Chinese students passing by the scene took the initiative to ask practitioners for Chinese versions of the leaflets and said that they would give them to their classmates. Reporters from a local TV Station and a cable TV station interviewed the Falun Gong practitioners. Currently the Chinese Communist regime not only persecutes Falun Gong in China, but it also disseminates lies overseas to slander Falun Gong, aiming to extend the persecution to other countries. Russian Falun Gong practitioners’ activities were often interfered with in various ways. The practitioners stated that they would make good use of various opportunities to clarify the facts, and to eliminate the negative impact of the lies disseminated by the Chinese regime, so that those who were deceived by the Chinese Communist regime would be able to clearly realise the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party. | |
| · Germany: Berlin Practitioners Protest at the Singapore Embassy
| Despite freezing cold weather, Berlin Falun Gong practitioners met outside the Singapore Embassy on Wednesday January 24th 2007. They were there to protest against the lawless and roguish actions of the Singapore authorities used against peacefully demonstrating Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore. During the afternoon, two practitioners entered the Embassy to present a letter of protest and to tell the staff about the incident. The first secretary welcomed them personally, listened to their concerns and promised to forward the letter. Some interesting discussions ensued while practitioners distributed leaflets. Immediately after the beginning of the distribution of the leaflets, two tourists from England came to talk to practitioners. As soon as they realised that Berlin practitioners were unfurling a large yellow banner with the words “Falun Gong” in German and Chinese, they stopped and accepted a flyer. Once we realised that they didn’t know German, a practitioner explained the reason for the protest at the Singapore Embassy to them in English. They were very outgoing and listened attentively to the explanation. The tourists heard about how the Chinese Communist Party harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. “Organ harvesting is atrocious,” said one of the ladies from England. “Yes, to remain silent is the worst anyone could do. The only thing one can do is to expose this situation,” continued her friend. Before leaving they asked if they could take pictures. They appeared to be deep in thought and deeply moved. A young woman approached one of the practitioners and was keen to receive more information about Falun Gong. This was the first time she had heard about the practice. She was very sympathetic, once a practitioner had told her the reason for the protest at the Embassy. She listened attentively and accepted with great interest the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and the Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China. She said that she could clearly comprehend the possibility of such human rights abuses as she had also lived in Poland when it was a communist country. She said, “People in that country were also persecuted during the communist rule without any legal grounds.” Before leaving she asked how she could help. She insisted on doing something that would bring an end to these injustices. She continued, “The minute I hear about things that have evolved into such horrible circumstances, I just have to do something.” Background of the Singapore Incident Six Falun Gong practitioners appeared in court in Singapore. They had protested peacefully at the Chinese Embassy in Singapore against human rights violations suffered by Falun Gong practitioners in China. They also had displayed banners exposing the systematic organ harvesting committed against Falun Gong practitioners. The Chinese Embassy staff were affronted by these activities. The Singapore court began court proceedings against the six practitioners on Monday, January 22nd 2007. The judge attempted to hold closed hearings, forbidding the public to attend. The trial was held in the smallest room available, with a seating capacity of eight. The accused practitioners asked days ahead of the trial for a larger room, which was denied. The six accused practitioners protested against this almost secret trial by turning towards the wall. Shortly after, the judge convicted the six practitioners to a two-day prison term. | · 610 Office in Chengdu, Sichuan Province Continues Zhao Benyong's Detainment after Completing His Five-Year Jail Term
| Mr. Zhao Benyong is a young teacher who taught at the Longquan Aerospace Technical College in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Because he is a Falun Gong practitioner he was discharged from the school and sentenced to five years in prison. He was imprisoned at Wumaping Prison in Leshan City, Sichuan Province. On January 31st, 2007, Mr. Zhao was to be released after he completed his prison term. But on the morning of February 1st, Chengdu Longquanyi 610 Office1 agents took him away and continued his detainment. His whereabouts are unknown. On February 1st, Mr. Zhao's wife, Yang Lan, and his brother and other family members went to Wumaping Prison to bring him home. At the same time, He Xiwen, head of the Longquan 610 Office, led six or seven people from Longquan Public Security, the Beigandao Police Station, and the Residence Committee to Wumaping Prison and tried to take Mr. Zhao away. There was a stalemate with Mr. Zhao's family for over two hours. The police then used the excuse that they were "bringing him to be registered," and they took him away. Mr. Zhao's wife followed the police car that afternoon to Longquan, where she was forcibly separated from her husband. The police then took Mr. Zhao away in a vehicle without a licence plate. His whereabouts are unknown. On the morning of February 2nd, a person introduced himself to the family as Mr. He. Mr. He was the Secretary of the Committee at the 610 Office, and he told the family that Mr. Zhao would need to be "reformed2" before he could be released. On the morning of February 3rd, Mr. Zhao's family called Mr. He, but Mr. He refused to take their call, so they went to the location. The guard at the Longquan government building told them that on Saturday no one was in the office and did not allow the family to talk to a responsible person. The family saw someone who was involved in taking Mr. Zhao away on February 1st at the entrance of the building, and they asked him for an explanation. The person then became angry and struck Mr. Zhao's 67-year-old mother. People around the scene became angry and condemned the person. This person then quickly went into the building. After about 20 minutes, seven or eight vicious-looking people showed up and blocked the family so that the person who hit Mr. Zhao's mother get away. During the entire incident, the guard at the entrance just looked on without doing anything. Later, when the family heard from a clerk at the government building that the leaders were in a meeting, Mr. Zhao's family decided to wait for a person in charge to settle the issue. But the guard used excuses to prevent them from meeting the chief and also called the police to threaten them. After two more hours, Mr. He appeared. He called those seven or eight henchmen to take the family to the so-called Office of the Residence Committee. The family asked Mr. He, "What law has Zhao Benyong violated? Why has he been taken away even after he has served his term? Why don't you let us see him?" Mr. He said that Mr. Zhao did not violate any law, but that the higher authorities would not let the family see him. Mr. He then threatened the family, saying, "If you continue this way, I'll send someone to take you back to your hometown." Mr. He also threatened Mr. Zhao's wife, saying that he would send her back to her hometown. They heard Mr. He addressed as Director Chen. No one knows his real name for sure. | · Six Practitioners in Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang Province Were Arrested - Over 400 of Their Relatives Are Appealing for Them
| On the morning of January 23rd, 2007, Mr. Dong Liantai, 43, and Mr. Tian Hua, 40, went to visit their relatives who were detained in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City. Both are farmers from Dancheng Town in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. They arrived there too early as the labour camp hadn't opened yet, so they sat on the edge of the farm field next to the labour camp. The labour camp guards in the watchtower saw them and arrested them. When the two practitioners questioned why they were arrested, the guards said they didn't need to provide a reason. The two practitioners were sent to Xinnong Town Police Station in the Daoli District, Harbin City. On the same day, the police also arrested four practitioners at the bus stop in Xinnong Town. Ms. Jiang Yahong, 30, is from Wanglong Town and was there visiting a relative. Ms. Miao Xiubo, 35, is a middle school teacher. She was visiting a classmate during her vacation. Mr. Xue Ruihui, 53, and Mr. Zhang Fengrong, 50, are farmers. Both were on a business trip and waiting at the bus stop. A police car from Xinnong Town Police Station stopped at the bus stop. Liu Zhaoping and three other police officers jumped out of the car. Without showing any identification or providing any reasons, they pushed the four practitioners into a small store on the side of the road. The police called someone and said, "We arrested four of them." When the practitioners questioned why they were arrested, the police denied the arrests, "We didn't arrest you." When bystanders gathered around to see what was going on, more police were called in and they took the four practitioners to Xinnong Town Police Station. The practitioners were subjected to body searches, and all the money they had with them was taken away. (More than 200 yuan1 was taken from Ms. Miao, who said to police, "You illegally conducted robbery and arrests. I will sue you when I'm free.") Four female guards from Wanjia Forced Labour Camp were called to the police station. Two of them immediately start slapping Miao Xiubo's face on one side. They kept scolding her and said, "We will make this side of your face much higher than the other." The other two kept hitting Ms. Jiang in the back of her head with their palms, which made Jiang feel very dizzy. She almost lost consciousness, and later she vomited repeatedly. Police from the local police station also beat Mr. Xue. The six practitioners were subjected to 12 hours of torture at the police station. At around 1:00 a.m. on January 24th, without any legal process, the six practitioners were sent to Harbin Detention Centre. Mr. Zhang Fengying suffered a brutal beating there. He was handcuffed and subjected to a torture referred to as the iron chair. On the day the practitioners were arrested, their family members heard the news and went to the Xinnong Town Police Station. They were told that no one was detained there. However, the next day, the police informed the town authorities, and the four families in the local area were told to pay 500 to 550 yuan to get their family members back. The money was paid, but no one was released. On the fourth day, police from Shuangcheng County National Security Division and the local police station conducted an illegal house search of Mr. Xue Yuehui's home. They didn't show any legal identification, and they forcibly entered the home and rampantly searched it. They didn't find anything they were interested in. On that same day, Jiang Yahong's father suffered a beating by local village officials, who yelled, "Why do you allow your daughter to wander around?" Afterwards, her father had sudden asphyxia and spasm. He continued to experience these symptoms. Her mother got sick for several days as well. However, no one would tell them the location of their family members. Because many people know that the police do take practitioners' organs for organ transplantation and later destroy their bodies to reap huge profits, the families of these practitioners were very worried and spared no cost in looking for them. On the fifth day and under intense enquiries, police in the Daoli District Police Department finally told them, "They are detained in Harbin Detention Centre." Visitors were allowed to visit the detention centre on weekdays and weekends. However, the detainees' families had to pay 430 yuan for reputed food costs for 15 days of detention and pay 80 yuan per visit for a meal at the detention centre. They had to pay this fee whether they wanted to eat or not. The six practitioners' families were all farmers and lived under very poor conditions. They had spent a lot of money looking for their family members. Now they had to pay again in order to see them. On the tenth or eleventh day, they finally managed to get the money required and visit their family members in the detention centre. Many of them hugged each other and cried. By then, Ms. Jiang Yahong had suffered a brutal beating at the detention centre, which made her dizzy and have headaches. She couldn't eat anything for almost ten days. Whatever she ate, she threw up, and sometimes she vomited blood. She was very skinny and in poor shape. The guards still forced her to eat, and they threatened to conduct force-feeding in front of her family members. The force-feeding could cause death, which her family firmly disagreed with and requested to take their daughter home. The head of the detention centre, Sun Zhaocheng, along with other guards had to push Jiang's family members out of the visiting room and out of the detention centre. The meal that the detention centre provided had only some peanuts and several meatballs that generally cost less than five yuan. It was blackmail to have to pay 80 yuan for it. Since any detainee in the detention centre could disappear at any moment, the family members were scared about this and wanted to visit every day. This would cost them a large sum of money. The practitioners' families tried to reason with the head of the national security division at Dali District Police Department. The families asked why those practitioners were arrested. He couldn't provide any reasons, and he just yelled loudly. They questioned why, as an upholder of the law, he violated the law himself. Why was he not able to provide any evidence? The police must have permission to detain anyone over 24 hours. How did they explain those who were detained for over 288 hours without any legal paperwork? The staff working in the visiting room said, "We are inspecting the case now. It has not been confirmed yet." If it was not confirmed, the accused should be released. Why were they still detained for so many days? The police said, "Listen to you or listen to me? We have to wait for the conclusion of the investigation." The family members complained, "How can we live like this? This severely violates a citizen's right of freedom." The staff said, "The government says Falun Gong is forbidden." The family members said, "That is nonsense! Most of our family members were patients before they practised Falun Gong. Falun Gong saved their lives and made them good people. What is wrong with that? Many people practise Falun Gong. It is said that about 100 million people are practising it worldwide. Which law states that practising Falun Gong is against the law and that practitioners can be arrested at will? Falun Gong is a belief, and our Constitution permits the freedom of belief. You should listen to us and immediately release them. It is our legal right." The staff became impatient and asked the family members to leave. Jiang Yahong's mother kept crying. Two police officers took her to the elevator and left. Currently, the six practitioners are still detained at Harbin Detention Centre. 441 of their relatives are appealing for them. They have made the following requests: Immediately release the detained practitioners, return the money that the police extorted from them, financially compensate them for the loss that the victims and their families suffered, and investigate the legal responsibilities of those who work at Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, Xinnong Town Police Station, and Deli District Police Station in Harbin City. | · Practitioner Ms. Yang Chunling's Arm Broken a Second Time from a Beating in Women's Prison of Liaoning Province
| On December 9th, 2006, practitioner Ms. Yang Chunling from Dalian City was transferred from Liaoyang City Detention Centre to the Women's Prison of Liaoning Province in Shenyang City. She is detained in the 11th Ward where she is suffering from intense persecution. Due to her firm belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and her kindhearted effort to persuade the Ward Head to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) she was brutally beaten by three women prisoners. The beating fractured her arm again. She said that her arm was broken before when she was imprisoned in Dalian City. A doctor had removed the steel plate in her arm a few days before she was transferred to the prison. This time the doctor said the fracture was very serious as it had occurred at the same location where her arm had broken before from a beating in the detention centre. The nerve damage might be permanent, which means that her arm might be crippled. They wrapped her arm in plaster and waited to see if her condition would improve. Ms. Yang told the guards that she would report the beating. Her action was motivated by the guards, who denied the beating. The guards lied, saying that Ms. Yang broke her own arm. The prison administration was quiet about this incident. Ms. Yang is in ill health and malnourished. She needs help walking. The mistreatment of Ms. Yang is only one example of the barbaric brutalities happening in Liaoning Province Women's Prison. We call for all people with conscience to pay attention to the persecution in Liaoning Province's Women's Prison so that justice can be served. | · 610 Office in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province Persecutes Ms. Mo Xiaomei
| Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Mo Xiaomei from Zengcheng City, Guangdong Province, was arrested by police from the Zengcheng National Security Division, 610 Office1, and Xining City Police Station, at her own shop on the afternoon on December 24th, 2006. She has been detained and tortured in the Zengcheng City Detention Centre. The detention centre's staff have refused to let her to see her family. They have threatened her, saying that they would give forged documents to the Procuratorate so that she would be sentenced. The signed documents stated that she was arrested on January 30th, 2007, and was scheduled to have a court hearing. However, her family has not received notice from the Public Security Department, the Procuratorate, or the Court. They have refused to show Ms. Mo's family her "detention card," the bare minimum requirement for holding her, even though they have asked for it several times. All legalities have been ignored. Without the documentation for her arrest, Mo Xiaomei's family cannot hire a lawyer. The officials deliberately did it this way to deprive her of her entitled "petition rights." They intentionally did this to keep her from being able to use a lawyer to defend her innocence. | · Please Rescue My Elderly Mother
| The Lunar New Year is near. My brother and I really do not know how to spend this year's New Year, because my mother has been arrested by the 610 Office1 of Laiyang City and detained for over half a year at Laiyang Detention Centre. Our home address is No. 1 Longyan Road, Qingdao City. Our mother, Zhao Ruixiang, had all kinds of illnesses from an early age. From the time she was 39 she could not work any more. After she began practising Falun Gong when she was over 60, her illnesses disappeared. She kept our home in good order and had a harmonious relationship with the neighbours. My brother and I had no need to worry about her. In July 2006, my mother went back to my father's hometown at Tan'gezhuang Township, Laiyang City in the Yantai District of Shandong Province to visit our relatives, but she was arrested by the Laiyang 610 Office. She has been detained in Laiyang Detention Centre for over half a year. We tried to visit her several times, but the detention centre refused to let us see her and only allowed us to send money and clothes. The clothes that we sent to her had all the knots trimmed off and the elastic on her trousers pulled out. The elastic sewn in the trousers was cut at several openings with scissors. We don't know how she could wear those clothes on such cold days. On November 10th, 2006, our mother was put on trial and we saw that she was wearing handcuffs in court. Torture and abuse had turned her into another person. Her face was pale, her hair was thin, her feet were shaking, and she could barely stand. She was almost deaf. Our mother was charged with helping a middle-school teacher, Zhao Hui, in Tan'gezhuang Township, buy a computer and a printer in Qingdao City. After we enquired from many different sources, we learned that after my mum was arrested, the head of the Laiyang 610 Office, Wei Haibo, beat, tortured, and interrogated her. These evil people tried to cover up their crimes of beating and torturing my mum; they didn't hit her face but they did pull her hair, beat her head and ears and hit her ankles with sticks. She could not hear anything for half a month after they hit her ears. They tortured her severely, but the bruises could not be seen on the surface! My mother helped other people buy goods that were sold in legal, state-run shops, which didn't break any law. It is not wrong to practise the Falun Dafa exercises and achieve better health and try to be a good person following Zhen-Shan-Ren ("Truth-Compassion-Tolerance"). It violates Chinese law to beat and detain someone like my mother! That is the illegal act! We sincerely appeal for help from people of justice inside and outside China to rescue my mum. All our relatives would sincerely appreciate your help! Note 1. | · Investigation Leads: Deceased Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Peng Min Had Large Hole in His Lower Back, and Other Leads
| After the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) atrocities of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners was exposed, the Falun Dafa Association and the Minghui/Clearwisdom website launched the "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" (CIPFG) on April 4th, 2006, and started to collect evidence on a large scale. Below is some recently received evidence from 2001. We hope that people who know the truth will continue to help us to expose the persecution of Falun Gong in labour camps, prisons, and hospitals throughout China, so that these atrocities can be stopped. The Large Hole in Peng Min’s Lower Back Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Peng Min from Wuhan City died from persecution in 2001. He was first tortured at the Qingling Detention Centre in Wuchang City, which resulted in a compression fracture of a vertebra and total paralysis. He was later held in a hospital and his mother, Li Yingxiu, took care of him. All of his family members are Falun Gong practitioners who were illegally detained at the time, except Li Yingxiu. For a short period, Peng Min was taken home and his condition improved. He could eat, drink, and talk. Three people—C, L and M—went to the hospital in March of 2001 to visit Mr. Peng. They were not allowed to enter the room, guarded by plainclothes police around the clock. L stayed on the ground floor, C took a peek into the room—Li Yingxiu was helping Peng Min to turn over in bed. He couldn’t see very well, but he thought Peng Min had a large hole in his lower back area. M had connections at the hospital and he was able to get inside the room. When he came out, he said, "How come Peng Min has a large hole in his lower back?" Li Yingxiu came out and told the three visitors, "The officials forcibly took Peng Min from his home back to the hospital. He was rushed into the operating room immediately after returning to the hospital, and a large hole appeared on his lower back area when he came out of surgery. They do not really treat him here; they are only torturing him and trying to kill him." Peng Min died from gross abuse at 6:00 p.m. on April 6th, 2001. His body and his family members were quickly transferred after his death and disappeared. His body was secretly cremated against the family's wishes at 10:00 a.m. the day after his death. Peng Min’s father, Peng Weisheng, was briefly let out of the Hewan Forced Labour Camp where he was held at the time so he could see his son’s body one last time and was taken back to the labour camp right away. Peng Min’s sister, Peng Yan, is in prison and knows nothing about her brother’s death. After Peng Min’s body was cremated, his brother, Peng Liang, and mother were sent to the Hongxia Brainwashing Centre in Qingling, the Wuchang District. His mother, Ms. Li Yingxiu, died suddenly soon after. Few people knew about the large hole in Peng Min’s lower back. I remembered this when the harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners was exposed in 2006. Why was there a hole in Peng Min’s lower back? It was unnecessary from a medical standpoint. Is it possible that Mr. Peng’s kidneys were removed? He was totally paralysed at the time and he would not have felt anything if his kidneys were removed. His mother didn’t have any medical knowledge herself to be aware of anything unusual, and it is difficult for anyone to imagine that the Communist Party would take organs from living people. We hope that anyone who knows the truth can provide us with information through a safe channel. Doing so would be an act of conscience and also choosing a bright future for yourself. The persecution of Peng Min and his family has been reported many times on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, such as "Wuhan Practitioner Peng Min Paralysed Due to Police Torture: CCTV Conspires to Create a Story" and "Mourn Peng Min" (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/3/24/5605.html)(http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/4/19/6845.html). Also, practitioner Zhou Jiangang is currently being held in Qinduankou Prison. We are highly concerned about his safety. Any persecution of Zhou Jiangang and any other practitioners would bring disaster to the persecutors themselves. Shang Quanyan, Where Are You? I was held at the No. 1 Wuhan City Women's Detention Centre in August of 2001. The detention centre officials ran blood tests on young people—on Falun Gong practitioners and some others, including myself. They took practitioner Ms. Shang Quanyan away after testing her. I have never heard from her since. Shang Quanyan came from Huangshi. She was then around 30 years old. She was an orphan, divorced and childless. I didn’t see any family member visit her. I hope people can provide information on her whereabouts. Ms. Shang Quanyan, if you come across this article, please respond! Exposing the "Blood Tests and Physical Exams" in the Forced Labour Camp I was detained for more than a year between 2005 and 2006. After I got out I learnt that the Chinese Communist Party had been committing gruesome crimes of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and selling them for profit. The Party is challenging the bottom line of everyone’s conscience and so it is of no coincidence that this crime is now been exposed. Everyone must make a choice on the issue of the Communist Party, whether right or wrong. I recall that during my stay at Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in the Beijing Labour Reeducation Dispatch Division, we were given three physical exams, including a blood draw at each examination. Now that I think about it, I am convinced that there was a dark scheme behind these physical exams. Only a small number of privileged workplaces in Chinese society receive this type of treatment. We practitioners were deprived of our freedom and incarcerated in torture chambers. It is illogical to assume that the authorities would care for the very people they were seeking to destroy. These unusual tests conceal a shocking secret. I want to expose this story to serve as a reference. Up until 2003, the Kidney Transplant Centre at Huaxi Hospital, which is affiliated with Sichuan University, had performed 1,201 transplants. Falun Gong practitioners also took part in this activity. They passed out paper lotus flowers and truth-clarifying materials to the visitors. Several Chinese people told the practitioners that they have already read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Some Chinese were deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's lies, so they didn't want to get close to the practitioners. But practitioners still gave them the beautiful lotus flowers and clarified the truth to them. Some of these people changed their attitudes. Practitioners ran into many Chinese people from the communities, and they exchanged New Year's greetings with each other. A six-year-old young practitioner played the song, "Falun Dafa is Good" on the accordion, which was very well received by the visitors. | |
