Amnesty International released its annual report on human rights status across the world on May the 26th 2004. This report outlines the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, including the rising death toll. It also portrays details of the death of a practitioner from Jilin Province who was beaten to death by prison inmates who were instructed to do so by the prison officials.

On May the 30th 2004, Swedish practitioners let people know the facts about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China at Hammarkullen Carnival by demonstrating the five sets of exercises, a photo exhibition, performing some musical pieces, flyer distribution and talking with people.

The twenty-four hour peaceful appeal at the Chinese Embassy in London by UK Dafa practitioners has lasted more than seven hundred days now. During these trying days, we have personally experienced the change in the surrounding environment as our cultivation progresses. The following stories tell the change in people’s hearts after they learnt the facts about Falun Gong and continue to remind us of our honour and responsibility as Dafa practitioners.

This year, Falun Gong practitioners from Northern Germany decided to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day in Hannover City. Practitioners from Northern Germany and Westfallen participated. Passersby took information about Falun Gong and after understanding the truth of the persecution, many people signed the petition supporting the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin.

The 2004 Scotland Car Tour reached the city of Inverness in its third day, which is one of the northern-most cities in Scotland. Practitioners went to visit local officials to tell them about the persecution of Falun Gong in China so that they can join the voices all over the world calling for an end to this enormous violation of human rights.

Sanhe City in Hebei Province is a small city with a small population. In 1999, it was officially said there were more than 3,000 Falun Gong practitioners there. It is just a rough estimate that since July 20, 1999, at least 41 practitioners were sent to forced labour camps. Hundreds of practitioners were detained and subjected to savage torture. Ms Jia Xueyun used to be very healthy from practising Falun Gong. When the labour camp sent her back home, she had been mentally traumatized and was so emaciated that she weighed only a little over 30 kg [approximately 66 lbs].

"I am a female Dafa practitioner from Sichuan Province. I was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labour education and sent to the Nanmusi Women's Labour Camp in Sichuan Province. Nanmusi Women's Labour Camp is a brutal environment and those incarcerated there consider it to be hell on earth. two foreign reporters came to the camp to investigate whether the reports that they had a water dungeon which they used for torture were true. They asked one practitioner. She only replied, "I won't say anything." After that, the guards hung her by her hands from the window frames for four days and four nights."

"I am a farmer, resident in Bin County, Heilongjiang Province. In August 2000, a fellow practitioner and I were reported to officers while we were delivering materials that clarify the truth about the persecution. The head of the local police station, and several police officers threatened me. They wanted me to tell them where I got the materials. I refused to tell them. Then they played all kinds of tricks before they began to torture me physically. I was sent to a detention centre and detained for four months.

Ms. Zhu Xia, a 32-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Sichuan Province, was severely persecuted. After facts about her persecution were exposed, other Dafa practitioners tried many different methods to rescue her. As a result, she was released and returned home to Chengdu City on April 2, 2004. However, after suffering nearly one and a half years of illegal forced labour and 10 months of cruel and repeated torment and torture, Ms. Deng was so seriously devastated both mentally and physically that she suffered a mental collapse.

Jiang and his regime have forced the Chinese people to choose between "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" and being able to live a normal life. People who refuse to denounce "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" face unemployment, being dismissed from schools, harassment, brainwashing, extortion, arrest, prison or labor camp terms, being sent to mental hospitals, torture, and even death. During this persecution, Jiang is destroying people's conscience.

The "plan" detailed individual responsibilities in a chart listing names, offices structures, discipline committee, each subject department, Student Association, Youth League committee, Online Education department, Teaching Research office, Human Resource office, etc. All this manpower and material has been put into squelching "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" at just this one small community college, deceiving innocent students to slander Falun Gong, and using them to influence their parents.

On the morning of Thursday May the 27th 2004, the first oral argument for Falun Gong practitioners' class-action lawsuit against former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin was held at the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. Dr. Terri Marsh, the plaintiffs' attorney, stated that there were mistakes with the original court's dismissal of the lawsuit based on head-of-state immunity. She requested that the court overturn the local federal court's decision.

On May the 29th 2004, Eastern Indonesia Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference was solemnly held in downtown Surabaya. Practitioners from Malang, Jakarta, Bali, Tulung Agung, Pasuruan and other places attended the conference.
