On May the 12th 2004, Swedish MPs from five parties jointly held a seminar in parliament on human rights in China. This seminar aroused great interest from MPs, the media and human rights organisations, as well as the persecuted groups in China. This is the first time that a seminar on Human Rights in China was jointly held by MPs from five parties in Sweden .

"The uniformed police took these people to the Paris fourth police station for an identity and security check when they were about to go into the metro station near the city government square. This lady pointed out that the search was carried out in a very rude manner and that they did not do anything to justify this action. She thinks that they were arrested simply because they were wearing yellow scarves with Falun Gong symbols."

On May the 27th, the court debate regarding the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin took place at the U.S. Federal Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. To expose the Jiang group’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and to support the lawsuit, practitioners from Bayern and Salzburg gathered at the Chinese Consulate in Munich to hold petition activities.

On May 27th, 2004, the U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago is to proceed with oral arguments from the plaintiffs’ lawyer in the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin (Jiang is sued for the crimes of torture, genocide and crimes against humanity). In support of this lawsuit, on the evening of May 26th, Austrian Dafa practitioners held an appeal at the Chinese embassy in Vienna.

Both Fengyin Li and her husband Zhengting were arrested and sent to a local detention centre in Langfang City on five separate occasions. In the detention centre, he was tortured and suffered both physically and psychologically. Later he was sent to a brainwashing centre, where he was psychologically persecuted. He died after being forced to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa. Their daughter Li Ma was sent to the detention centre on two separate occasions.

Mr. Zheng Zhiqiang was a 37 year old practitioner from Liaoning Province. He had been severely tortured because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Dafa. Mr. Zheng was finally brought to the Dalian Prison Clinic in an extremely weakened condition during the Chinese New Year Season. On the morning of April 4, 2004, witnesses saw his dead body hung by the neck in the window of No.2 room. Prisoners were shocked, and said that the prison officials plotted this to escape responsibility for their crimes.

High school student, Practitioner Yao Hui lived in Gansu Province. He was sentenced to a forced labour camp in 2001 for two years and two months because he went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa. The police didn't tell his family of his imprisonment, causing them great distress. On January 27, 2004, police kidnapped Yao Hui and ordered camp prisoners to brutally beat him. He was tortured until he lost his senses. He was released. However, by then, Yao Hui could not even speak clearly, and has lost the ability to live independently.

The most painful experience was losing my right to marry, even after losing all other freedoms. In 1998, I met Yu Wensheng, an archive manager from Harbin Normal University. We were very much in love. In 1999 we travelled to Beijing together to appeal for Falun Gong. In Tiananmen Square, police took him away from me. In June 2000, when I was heavily monitored by the police, he came to Qitaihe City to marry me. I went to Harbin in order to marry him, however, Harbin police learned about our plan and detained me.

When practitioners were talking about their remarkable physical and mental changes and their moral elevation after they took up the cultivation of Dafa, their talks were frequently interrupted by sobs or applause. The hearts of all practitioners combined into one whether they were speaking on the stage or sitting around listening. That was the best time in my life and I felt really fortunate to have obtained such a good thing as Falun Dafa.

After listening to Master Li's lectures, she excitedly said: "It's great what Master Li talks about! Falun Dafa teaches people to be good, to be compassionate, and helps people heal illnesses and keep fit. But the government's crackdown on Falun Gong is incomprehensible." She then began the cultivation of Falun Dafa. When she meets acquaintances, she tells them the truth about Falun Dafa. She always talks very reasonably, so after many people understand the truth, they say: "We know that the people who practice Falun Dafa are good people. The self-immolation incident and other propaganda broadcast on TV are all fabrications."

Since the Seventh Court of Appeals in Chicago were to start the hearing on the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin on May the 27th 2004, some Bay Area Falun Gong practitioners rallied at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco after work on May the 26th.

"I commend Falun Dafa practitioners for their continuous peaceful appeals calling for an end to the persecution that has claimed the lives of at least 955 practitioners in China, and I look forward to the day when the people of China enjoy the same fundamental freedoms that we in America cherish."
