“The human rights violations in China are very serious. For instance, brutal torture, bad treatment in the prisons, coercing a suspect into admitting guilt, and arbitrary arrest. In addition, the Chinese government strictly restricted freedom of speech and assembly, and the rights of labourers. Meanwhile, in their handling of the dissenters, minority nationalities, religious beliefs, spiritual groups (such as Falun Gong), and criminals who commit general crimes, the Chinese government indicted them with extreme penalties. The Dutch government will pay close attention to the situation."

The international conference on “Genocide in the New Era”, organised by “Friends of Falun Gong Europe” and “International Advocates for Justice”, commenced in Stockholm on January 26th 2004. The agenda for the first day covered two topics: “Human Rights Violations in China” and “Development and Law”. Lord Francis Thurlow made the opening address.

UK practitioners called upon the embassy staff to pass on the following message to the French government: During the official visit by Hu Jintao on January 28th, French police were poisoned by the Jiang regime’s relentless spread of its fabricated lies against Falun Gong and used excessive force to arrest and detain seven UK Falun Gong practitioners and practitioners from other countries.

"We love France because she has been a country, which prides itself on its independence of thought and will and does not easily bow to the demands of others. However, this incident clearly shows the very integrity and self-will of the French nation have been violated and compromised. We are deeply concerned that the Paris police, at the behest of your government and due to pressure from the Chinese government, has actively helped in the persecution of Falun Gong."

"We have deep respect to your great nation for its wonderful culture and its principles, therefore we urge you to apologise for and to take action to rectify this unjust behaviour, so that something like this can never occur again in France. We hope you can also make efforts together with other countries and people to help the millions of people in China who are right now suffering the persecution of Falun Dafa. Please help to end this persecution."

After reading an article about "the lavish reception and maximum security afforded to the President of China during his visit to Paris", Lord Hylton wrote to the Editor of The Times (London) on February 2nd 2004. In his letter, Lord Hylton suggested that the persecution "of Falun Gong practitioners and the continued existence of labour camps all might have recommended a more modest welcome" to the Chinese President. He went on to say that he trusts the President of France "will place a higher value on upholding freedom of belief and worship, together with other human rights, wherever these are threatened."

On January 24th, in an article entitled "What's hidden behind the economic miracle?", national French newspaper L'Humanité exposed the painful burden imposed on the Chinese people by the Jiang regime. It mentioned the "very violent" repression of Falun Gong in China. The article concluded that the absence of Falun Gong from the official parade in Paris displayed once again how hard the Chinese regime strives to hide its crimes and show foreigners a flawless image of the country.

On October 27, 2003, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Juncheng went on a hunger strike and wrote a letter to the Prison Party Committee requesting that Falun Gong practitioners be treated with justice. Because of this plea, he was sent to solitary confinement and tortured on the "Fixed-Bed," a cruel torture method. He was taken off the torture bed in the beginning of December, after he had been tied up for more than 30 days, suffering intolerable pain.

A young police officer at the sidelines was shocked, and came forward to stop the violence, fearing her life might be in danger and was afraid of the consequences. However, Wu Wei had lost control and still hit her, at the same time saying, "I am upset whenever I see you! Who told you to be the leading one? Today I must beat you so they take you to the mortuary, and see who can do anything about it."

The next day my family came to talk to Sun Zhijun, a head doctor at the hospital, demanding my release. My family argued that I had never been mentally impaired. Sun Zhijun retorted that only those who had brought me to the hospital would be allowed to release me; family members were not eligible. Sun also claimed that I was "mentally hindered" and had to take medicine.

An official named Yang is in his fifties. He is a section head in charge of administrative affairs. His job is to decide sentence extensions or reductions. In November 2002, during a brainwashing session, he read a document that said, "Those who refuse to transform will be subjected to an extended forced labour term." In addition, he shamelessly whitewashed the practices of torture and brainwashing. He was quite proud of the evil crimes he and other police had committed. He often bragged to practitioners' employers, "We used force on these women."

I asked myself why I went to the newspaper office to tell them about my experience in Paris. As practitioners, nobody would help us if our mentality of selfishness arises. I began to get clear-headed. I should be using the Paris event to expose the evil, and clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the world. Master Li has pointed out very clearly in the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference, “The most important goal in clarifying the truth is to save sentient beings.”

A investigative report showing how Jiang Zemin’s regime monopolizes the Chinese media and manipulates news and information pertaining to falun gong, monitors and controls internet communications to prevent Falun Gong internet activities and also the Ministry of Culture spreading lies and persisting in their persecution against Falun Gong in foreign countries while hosting overseas Chinese cultural activities

This is the first time where a Falun Gong practitioner has brought and won a lawsuit against a Chinese diplomat for persecuting Falun Gong outside of China. This is also the first court case where a Chinese diplomat was sued for slander and spreading hatred against Falun Gong.

HK Falun Gong practitioners protested Jiang regime's extending the persecution to France, regarding the French police's recent irrational arrest and detention of several dozen Falun Gong practitioners. They also demanded the French authorities to take actions to correct this error, so as to prevent France from suffering much damage to the country's dignity and reputation in the international community.
