On January 22nd 2004, a journalist working for Yahoo France conducted a long interview with two French Falun Gong practitioners about the pressure exerted by the Chinese regime on French authorities, forcing them to exclude Falun Gong from the Chinese New Year Parade in Paris. The journalist took the opportunity to say that Falun Gong is a peaceful method, and that the main person responsible for the persecution in China is former leader Jiang Zemin, who is now being sued for genocide in several European countries.

"We believe therefore that the French authorities should make a public apology to the Falun Gong practitioners for an episode which contravenes the basic democratic right of all citizens to demonstrate peacefully. It is totally unacceptable that the French authorities should allow the same sort of human rights abuse currently taking place in China to be transferred to the streets of one of the largest democracies in the western world."

Many French people already knew about Falun Gong and expressed their support to us immediately. Chinese people also accepted our material in a kind-hearted way. When they saw it was about Falun Gong, they nodded their heads, smiled, and said cheerfully, “Oh, it’s Falun Gong." They immediately concentrated on reading the booklet and put the VCD into their pockets gratefully.

Regarding the French government caving in before the Jiang regime's pressure, Marco Cappato, a member of the European Parliament said, "France should have stayed true to European democratic and egalitarian principles by standing up to the pressure from China. China suppresses its own people and now France is allowing China to suppress the citizens of France from expressing their beliefs!" "Will France, a land of freedom, allow a foreign regime to dictate rules on its own territory?"

"At first, the policeman told us that we had been arrested for distributing flyers and it was illegal to distribute flyers. I asked him, "We did not distribute any flyers, why were we arrested? Was it only because we wore yellow scarves embroidered with the words 'Falun Dafa'?" He said that it was because some Falun Gong practitioners wearing yellow scarves had distributed flyers, so other practitioners wearing yellow scarves were arrested as well. Then I asked, "What about me? I am not even wearing a yellow scarf." He said that they were in a hurry to make the arrests so it was understandable that they made a small mistake."

Ms. Gao Shiping, aged 58, was a resident of the surrounding area of Zhangjiakou City. In April 2001, while Ms. Gao was farming in the field, she was arrested by local police and sent to the Gaoyang Labour Camp for forced brainwashing. When she returned home in the spring of 2003, her health had seriously deteriorated from the physical and mental torture she had endured in the labour camp. She died on December 19, 2003.

"Seeing that she refused to submit, they tied her to the back of a van and pulled her along to a broken down shed, where she was made to stand and not allowed to sleep unless she gave up her practice. They tied her arms to the back and hung her up, with her toes barely touching the ground. Adding to her agony, they shocked her with an electric baton. Ma collapsed four times, and she suffered from cardiac problems from the damage done by the high voltage electric baton. For six months afterwards, she was unable to lift up her arms."

Policewoman Yuan Lingyue is the captain of Team Three in the Women's Division of Dalian City Labour Camp, in Liaoning Province. Team Three is specifically used for detaining and torturing female Falun Gong practitioners. Yuan is thirty-three years old and lives in the Lubo Residential Area of the Shahekou District in Dalian City. She is known to be vicious and deceitful. Yuan was so cruel that the guards were even terrified of her. They would say behind her back, "She's just too vicious."

One day in December of 2003, a prison guard at the Hehuakeng Labour Camp in Tangshan City had a "heart-to-heart talk" with the Falun Gong practitioners incarcerated there. When talking about how other labour camps "transformed" Falun Gong practitioners, he said, "We are more moderate. We only use 300,000-volt electric batons, wooden clubs, deadly strings, and bind you to the bed. We have never buried you alive like they did."

Ever since October 2002, when Jiang was sued in the United States for crimes against humanity, genocide, and torture, Jiang and his regime's brutal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners who believe in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, has been exposed to the world, causing wide-spread concern. Each country's government and various organizations are condemning the persecution and calling for an end to it through diplomatic or legal channels.

Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil outside the Chinese Consulate to commemorate fellow practitioners Ms. Gao Shiping and Ms. Li Shuli, who were tortured to death in China. They also called on the Chinese government to stop the killing, and punish the chief perpetrator, Jiang Zemin and the murderers.

On January 17, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners from San Diego, Orange County, and other areas participated in a parade held in downtown San Diego to commemorate famous civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and won the second-place award issued by the organizing committee.

This year practitioners' procession included a Tang Attire Show, a Lotus Boat, Fan Dancing and Red Silk Cloth Dancing teams, as well as banners and flags. Spectators on the sidewalks enjoyed the seen and applauded to show their appreciation.

This woman was extremely beautiful and radiant. She wore a thin black silk dress, a white silk shawl, a hair accessory bearing a phoenix, and a pair of finely embroidered shoes. The two maids that accompanied her were also extraordinarily beautiful. Guo Han was humbled by their presence. He got up from his chair, straightened his clothes, knelt down, and said, “I didn’t expect the arrival of such an Honourable immortal.” He waited attentively for words from the young woman. The woman smiled and said, “I am the weaving goddess from heaven.”
