This document contains information about the existing legal cases aimed at bringing justice to Falun Gong practitioners who are being brutally persecuted by Jiang Zemin and some of his officials. It is our wish that righteousness will prevail, the freedom to practise Falun Gong will soon return to China, and that those who have committed human rights atrocities in this persecution will be found guilty by our courts.

Many of the people at the fair were particularly interested in Falun Gong and asked about the local practice sites where they can learn the exercises free-of-charge. During the course of the day, the environment became more and more tranquil and peaceful.

"Zhiming was frequently harassed by the police. In June 2000, he was unable to stay at home and had to wander about and became homeless. We heard nothing from him until October 2001. We were then told that Zhiming was arrested by the National Security Bureau whilst visiting his friend in Shanghai and was imprisoned for four years because he is a Falun Gong practitioner."

During the recent Christmas and New Year celebrations, Spanish Falun Gong practitioners received more than 20 greeting cards and letters, from many prominent figures, including the Spanish President. Here are some extracts from the cards received.

"In China, human rights violations committed during the period of the persecution of Falun Gong are so serious that, Jiang Zemin, the leader of this tragedy, has been sued in the US for committing genocide. Unfortunately he seems set to extend the persecution into Hong Kong and endanger the liberties of the Hong Kong people by implementing Article 23."

On November 15 2002, Li Chenchang presided and founded the so-called "Spanish Overseas Chinese Anti-Evil Religion Organisation" and did his utmost to slander Falun Dafa. After a week, Li was suddenly hospitalised. Prior to this time, Li was very healthy and had been a personal bodyguard. He returned to China after he left the hospital. He died suddenly from an attack of brain cancer less than two months after he set up his Organisation.

An immigration officer named Lu Jiarong rudely threw two female practitioners to the ground and seemed to enjoy doing so very much. The policemen who used violence all hid their nametags. One policeman even put the nametag into a pocket in front of the practitioners, after another policeman reminded him. Even they know that their acts are shameful.

"Professor Chu-Cheng Ming described the Hong Kong police's reasoning, "We all know that you are good people, but our superiors order us to do this. We are under great pressure." Mr. Chang Chen-Yu said the police even apologised to him and told him they were following orders from the government."

About 12 armed policemen brutally lifted me up and carried me out of the room. Then they forced me to the floor and wrapped me up in a canvas bag. As a result of their brutality my right palm was injured and bleeding, and my neck was hurt from being pulled. I told the cabin attendant about the violent force used to get me to the plane and asked him not to cooperate with a practice that violated human rights. However, the cabin attendant revealed that the Hong Kong government forced them to cooperate and they had no choice in the matter.

'They pointed out that the proposed legislation would infringe upon the already weakened human rights and freedom in Hong Kong. They also complained that the immigration office denied entry to more than ten Taiwan practitioners at the airport. One Swedish practitioner expressed to the reporter that the Hong Kong government should take care not to sell out its integrity.'

'A controversial anti-subversion bill came before Hong Kong's legislature Wednesday, prompting a walkout by opposition lawmakers who burned it in effigy while pro-democracy activists ripped up a copy and threw pieces from a public gallery. Critics say the bill threatens Hong Kong's freedoms, which are left over from British colonial days.'

Liu Shufen and Zhang Dezhen were being tortured together. Liu Shufen was the only witness to Zhang Dezhen's death. At that time, Liu Shufen was beaten until she lost consciousness. The guards deliberately sent her for brain surgery, saying that something must be wrong with her brain and forcibly carried her out of her cell. According to several Falun Dafa practitioners who witnessed the scene, she was breathing normally and her body temperature was also normal. She had just temporarily lost consciousness due to the beating. Liu Shufen died as a result of the surgery.

The police's slogan is: "As long as they are still breathing [referring to practitioners], the criminals can do whatever they want to torture them. But they should leave little or no trace on the surface of practitioners' bodies."… Some practitioners were tortured several times per day; some suffered more than one hundred heavy lashes a day. Practitioner Wang Jun was subjected to over two hours of beating and slapping every day. So extreme was his torment! Sub-human criminal Li Zhongqi said, "However intense is your pain, so too is my pleasure. I love torturing you each day."

This kind of behaviour is not only to persecute Falun Dafa, but also to insult those who wish to travel from this station. Perhaps the police have come to understand that this behaviour is not right, as they now hide out of sight to observe what is happening. They are no longer as blatant in their actions as they used to be, when they acted without any ethical consideration whatsoever. Their actions now show their fear.

I am always happy, full of energy and reasonable. The supervisors and colleagues from my original work unit said: "This person would not be able to handle all of this if he were not practising Falun Gong. If we had been in that situation, no one could suffer through it. We respect Teacher Li." One colleague told me: "When you introduced Falun Gong to me before, I didn't care for it. Now I want to learn it from you as I can see that it will be a great benefit to me."

Knowing that the persecution shouldn't exist we kept sending forth righteous thoughts. The two male practitioners left through the side door from the second floor. We, the two female practitioners, decided to go out in a noble and dignified way through the front door. By that time, all the policemen were waiting at the front yard of the apartment building. Talking and smiling, the two of us walked through the watchful eyes of two policemen.

On the evening of February 12, 2003, on the campus of the US's famous Emory University, students dedicated dedicated roses to Falun Gong practitioners who are imprisoned in China for their beliefs.

I think that they [Falun Gong practitioners]are peace loving, good citizens, who simply want to practise their...beliefs in freedom. I think that's a fundamental right, not just in America, but also around the world. And when they tell me that 572 Falun Gong practitioners have died in Chinese prisons, because of torture, and tens of thousands have been arrested, harassed or otherwise coerced by the Chinese government, I think that's an offence to everyone in the world.

The government is concerned by China's approach towards followers of Falun Gong and understands the disress of those whose family or friends who are in detention in China. We express these concerns clearly and regularly to senior Chinese officials and government representatives.
