One of the Finnish practitioners talked about the urgent need for this meeting, outlining the recent of spate of deaths of practitioners in China at the hands of the Jiang regime, as well as the unwillingness of the Chinese government officials to accept worldwide appeals to end this persecution.

By noon we had unexpectedly handed out all the leaflets, so we hurried to have more printed. We gave out over 2,000 leaflets in a single day. Many residents asked about the local practice sites where they can learn the exercises for free, and some of them even learned the exercises on the spot.

I was invited to my local Amnesty International group in Mönsterås in the southeast of Sweden, to tell them about Falun Gong. There were eight ladies of different ages in the group and they told me that they had heard and read some things about Falun Gong, and now they wanted to find out the true facts.

This article was written on the day when a practicing site was established in Victory Park. This is the first time that Falun Gong practitioners have practised in the park. The author happened to pass by without being notified beforehand. He decided to write this article soon after he saw the scene. A photographer was sent there last Saturday to take photos to complete this article.

Jiang and Luo's criminal group primarily wanted to ban Falun Gong in Hong Kong by using Article 23. However, Article 23 is aimed not only at Falun Gong, but also at human rights and democracy for all Hong Kong citizens. It can be said that in order to persecute Falun Gong, Jiang's regime would not hesitate to sacrifice the future of seven million people in Hong Kong.

While the protests triggered by Hong Kong's Article 23 legislations have not yet subsided, on February 21 the Hong Kong government deported nearly 80 Taiwanese who held legitimate travel documents to visit Hong Kong, for so-called security reasons. This act deepened the concerns of people from all walks of life over Beijing's increasing control of Hong Kong.

'Results of the survey showed that over 80% think that if the Article 23 legislation passes, their confidence in freedom and rule of law in Hong Kong will be reduced. Seventy percent of the participants said that they have considered leaving Hong Kong and emigrating because of Article 23.'

It was reported that Hong Kong's people and communities are worried and doubtful about the enactment of Article 23. Concern has also been expressed by the Hong Kong Journalists' Association and the former Chair of Hong Kong's Democratic Party and the Hong Kong Bar Association, Mr. Alan Leong.

'Article 23 of the Basic Law is a law that will affect the important rights and freedom of seven million Hong Kong citizens...the recently proposed draft is filled with different types of traps and the government even squeezed in things like secret trials. How can such a law not worry the people, and how will Hong Kong's people be able to sleep at night?'

...My neck was swollen to the size of my head, my face was full of bloody blisters. My ears extended because of swelling. My lips were swollen and turned to the outside. When I took off my clothes, all the people were so stunned that many of them burst into tears and dared not look at me. On my breasts and under my armpits, were bruises and scars from wounds strung together like beads. My breasts swelled up and were too painful to be touched, my nipples were burnt black.

In order to get the "honour" of being named "civilized labour camp," the guards used faked guarantee letters for obeying camp regulations written by criminals, as if they had been written by Dafa practitioners. Every time when higher authorities came to inspect the labour camp, the guards carried severely injured Dafa practitioners away and hid them in cellars or pig pens.

They psychologically manipulated and tortured practitioners into making the repentance statement, and into slandering Falun Gong and the founder of Falun Gong in front of a video camera. When these friends and family visited, they were forced to express hatred, hostility, and opposition toward Falun Dafa. Otherwise, they were refused their right to visit these practitioners.

About 10 pm on February 9, 2002, Shuangcheng police went to his home to arrest Fu and his wife. The police tricked them by saying that they wanted some information, and would let them come back shortly after, but the couple has not been seen since then. Now, only the three children are at home, having to fend for themselves! The eldest one is 14 years old, the middle one is 5 years old, and the youngest is only 3 years old.

Falun Gong practitioners held a one-day event with festive song and dance to publicly celebrate the Chinese New Year. They demonstrated the exercises, performed a fan dance and held a Tang Dynasty style fashion show.

On February 13, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners from the New York area gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate and held a peaceful protest for the release of US citizen Charles Li, a Falun Gong practitioner who was arrested for no reason when he went back to China to visit his family during the Chinese New Year.

In 1999, when he learnt that the innocent Dafa practitioners in China were arrested, he discussed with several friends about delivering an appeals letter to the Chinese Consulate. At that time he did not have a car. After they agreed on this course of action, he rented a car and drove overnight to Washington D.C., delivered the appeals letter to the personnel concerned, and then drove back to Boston overnight. He has such a kind heart.
