Passers by asked practitioners about the benefits they have received from practising Falun Dafa and were very interested to hear that Dafa brings people good health, improved moral standards and a calm and benevolent outlook in everyday life.

"According to reports from human rights groups, the situation of human rights in China is getting worse, especially in the case of Falun Gong, which is the largest group of people being persecuted very severely. The death toll is rising daily and by an alarming amount -- since November there have been over 20 verified reports of practitioners being tortured to death in the hands of the Chinese authorities. What is your opinion about the human rights situation in China and about Falun Gong?"

"Over the past three years, tens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners, especially those in Mainland China, have done their best and even risked their lives to reveal the truth about Falun Gong to kind-hearted and righteous people. What we are demanding is simply to stop the persecution and restore the good name of Falun Gong and what we want is only to have the legal right to practise Falun Gong."

This gentleman held a responsible position at his work. He integrated the universal principles of Truthfulness – Compassion – Tolerance into his life, yet the Jiang regime now say it is a crime to uphold these moral values. He didn't surrender to extensive pressure, and instead continued to steadfastly practise Falun Gong. At the beginning of this year, while he was on duty, Cai Zhigang was required to talk with some people, and in this way he was deceived into going to the brainwashing centre.

They told a mother who had a one-year-old child, "Your child will lose his mother because of you. Your parents will lose their daughter because of you. If you transform into something we want you to become, you will be able to go home. Why don't you transform? Aren't you being selfish?" The bad people kidnap the good people and say good people are being selfish. Where is the justice?

The brainwashing centre in Shijiazhuang City, the capital of Hebei Province, also called the "Law Education Centre of the Capital of Hebei Province" is a den of evil. The head of the vicious criminals, Kong Fanyun, clamoured publicly, "We're here to forcibly transform you, don't even try to reason with us. The labour camp is waiting for you if you don't reform." The centre is completely isolated, and the ways of persecution are extremely vicious.

The two sisters were convicted of illegal trading - referring to the sale of Falun Gong publications in their bookstore. However, they were arrested on 20 July 1999, two days before the movement was banned. The sale of Falun Gong literature was not illegal before the ban…A fellow detainee says that she was kicked and beaten, handcuffed and suspended by the wrists, and forced to wear an instrument called zhu zui on her head.

The guards in the detention centre asked her, "Why do you practice Falun Gong? You have already been sentenced to death. Can Falun Gong stop you from dying?" She told the guards how good Falun Gong was. She had been given the death penalty because she killed another person, and it was only fair to repay that life with hers. If she had known of Falun Gong earlier, she would not have killed anyone.

At a famous tourists' site in Melbourne, a middle-age man from Beijing went to take a picture with some Falun Gong practitioners. Before he left, a practitioner asked him, "May I tell you some facts about Falun Gong?" He turned back and replied loudly, "I know the truth! Don't you simply practice the exercises without interfering anyone? Jiang is looking for trouble where there is none!"

Although she was initially reluctant to take our materials, it felt as if it was just a very thin shell that was restraining this lovely woman from accepting the truth. When we broke through it, everything about her changed immediately. I had the impression that the whole field around her immediately became bright and infused with light.

'"Local statistical offices are heavily influenced by local political leadership," the editors write, "and when career advancement depends on performance related to assigned targets, the targets tend to become self-fulfilling."'

'A school teacher in central China has accused local authorities of "brainwashing" citizens by forcing them to subscribe to a Communist Party-run newspaper, a New York-based rights group said Thursday.'

'..threatened with an investigation by the city's Commission on Human Rights, parade organizers at last Thursday's meeting decided to allow the group to march...Falun Gong practitioners contend that as their movement has shifted to the United States, persecution has followed them, and they point to the parade controversy as an example of such discrimination.'

From 5PM to 10PM on January 31, 2003 and from 10AM to 5PM on February 1, 2003, practitioners from Tokyo, Yokohama, Chiba and Saitama peacefully appealed in front of the Chinese Embassy, despite the cold weather. The practitioners were thinking about the thousands of practitioners in China who have been driven away from home and the tens of thousands of practitioners being illegally detained.
