Yahoo's role in the imprisonment of a journalist is the latest in a string of controversies surrounding the activities of global technology companies in China and their assistance to the state security apparatus. Many of the foreign technology powers that market themselves as forces for the free flow of information in other countries have made accommodations with an often repressive Communist Party government as they pursue business opportunities in a land of seemingly limitless potential.

As for other government officials, Chinese Communsit Party members and the general public, Falun Gong practitioners have made unimaginable sacrifices, sometimes at the cost of their own lives, to clarify the truth about the practice and the persecution to these people who are also victims of this cruel persecution. Their actions reflect the magnificence of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and the immense compassion of the cultivators.

I was hospitalised in Northern Sichuan Medical College in Nanchong City for a week, but my condition continued to deteriorate. I was transferred to the local hospital for more than a month, as my health became steadily worse. All the skin on my body turned yellow, and my eyes were yellow and shiny. My whole body was itching and in pain. I couldn't hold down any food. My husband asked the doctor what we should do. The doctor said, "Fewer than one in ten patients with liver necrosis like her survive!"

Each time we publish news of this nature, we do so with heavy hearts. These people started off as public servants, but under the intense pressure applied by former president Jiang Zemin and his followers, they were pushed into persecuting those who practise Falun Dafa. In the process of destroying the lives of kind, law-abiding citizens, they have sealed their own fates and inevitably faced karmic retribution as punishment. If it weren't for Jiang's wicked orders, perhaps their fates would have been different.

The hired political instructor saw that people were either sleeping or napping, and felt that his work was pointless. He then said, "What is our country doing, who cares about 'preserving the advanced nature'? Let's talk about the persecution of Falun Gong. That's Jiang's wrongdoing. But now he doesn't know how to stop it. There's a book called the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and it's the truth. I have a copy. If I have it with me today I'll read it to you guys." Then the employees started paying attention to him.

CFCN, a local TV station in Calgary, reported, "Falun Gong practitioners and supporters in Calgary held a live re-enactment Sunday, of torture methods they say are used in China against citizens who practise the 'art.'" The report said that protesters wanted to highlight human rights abuses before the Chinese President Hu Jintao arrives.

On August 20th, 2005, Mr. Yang Huaiyong, who lives in Village No. 1 of the family living quarters of Xi'an Jiaotong University, was talked into opening his door by a group of police officers and plainclothes policemen. The police swarmed in to arrest him illegally. Some officers wrested his single arm (Mr. Yang has only one arm) while others lifted his legs and they carried him to their police car. The police officers were afraid that Yang Huaiyong would alert the neighbours about his unlawful arrest, so they gagged him with a towel and left in a hurry.

At 5:00 p.m. on June 24th, I heard a boy's voice as I approached a T-intersection: "Don't throw watermelon rind on the road. People will fall if they step on it." He then picked up the watermelon rind and carefully put it into a small pit on the roadside. I walked closer and found that I knew him. He is a young practitioner whom I met before, and he is only five years old. His parents both practise Falun Gong. He was playing with three other youngsters, and one of them threw the watermelon rind on the road when they finished eating it. The glory of Falun Gong's "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" radiated from the young practitioner.

They say that Hao betrayed China and escaped because he had accepted a bribe. They try to hide the fact of his withdrawal from the CCP. However, police from the 610 Office scoffed and said that working with the 610 Office, they have almost no chance to be involved with rich people who could pay big bribes. They know that the 610 Office deals almost exclusively with Falun Gong. So how much money could Falun Gong have? Who would they get a bribe from? They know that there must be something more that the Party is not telling them!

He instructed the officials and police officers in the township to harass the practitioners and monitor them, to confiscate practitioners' books and burn them, to force every practitioner in the township to give up his/her belief in "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance," and to force the practitioners to curse Falun Dafa and its founder and write pledges to denounce their belief. Whoever did not write the pledge would be tortured even more severely. Soon, Banfu developed lung cancer. After spending over three hundred yuan on medical treatments, he still could not cure his illness, and finally died in August 2005 at the age of fifty-one.

It was difficult to see everything clearly, so the banner was not hung properly. The next day, I passed by, thinking of taking the banner down to re-hang it properly. It wouldn't be of any use if people could not read the message on the banner. For this reason, I asked a bystander to give me a hand to get the banner down. The bystander asked, "What's on the banner?" I replied, " It says, 'Bring Jiang to justice!'" Surprisingly, the bystander replied, "Excellent idea! Jiang Zemin should be put on trial and bought to justice. Not only did he harm innocent people but he also made their lives miserable. Let me help you take it down and re-hang it properly!"

Today I was very happy to see that you are getting along so well with your uncle Gao and your aunt. These past few years, Mama has been most worried about you, my sensible, steadfast, pretty, and clear-minded daughter. In those most difficult and helpless days that our family had to face, it was your uncle Gao and his family that gave us a hand by accepting the great responsibility of taking good care of you. Mama is greatly relieved now that you have a place to go.

As time went on, the life of a nun carried less and less meaning for me and so I left the convent. I married a few years later and had a daughter. I earned an MBA from a well-known business school. Yet my life seemed empty. I had the strange feeling that I should move to my husband's home state on the East Coast. We did move, but my heart continued to be restless. I had not found the answer to my spiritual questions. My heart was no longer committed to the Catholic faith, but I continued to participate in Sunday Mass, Catholic holidays and the sacraments.

At age 28 I was still doing drugs, and by this time I was developing severe allergies and chronic bronchitis which led me to the hospital, sometimes three times a year, with pneumonia. I was still a member of the secret order, the ancient mystical society I spoke of earlier, yet my life had become deplorable. I was depressed and lost. I gave up on finding the way and plunged full force into the big dye vat of society.

Since the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, they have been poisoned by the Chinese Communist Party's atheism. Their own relatives practice Falun Dafa, but Gao Ruihong and Gao Hongtao have both followed Jiang's scoundrel group in slandering the practice and cooperating with the evildoers to persecute their relatives. Many practitioners have spoke to them about the practice and the true facts behind the persecution, but they did not listen, nor did they believe that good meets with good and that evil would be met with evil.

The implications of Weiqi are profound and broad reaching. As a part of culture given to humans by immortals, over the course of thousands of years, Weiqi has been greatly enjoyed by emperors, generals, scholars, and commoners. It has also given birth to many legends and oft-repeated stories, beautiful literature, even books on military strategy and managing the country. Weiqi is a beautiful flower in the history of Chinese civilization.

He Hengyue and Su Juzhen, both simple, honest farmers, came from two different generations but they suffered similar, tragic fates. After reading their stories, I have a deeper understanding of the brutal nature of the Chinese Communist Party and the political persecution in China.

Shanghai has been designated by the Chinese Communist Party's regime as a showcase of China's economic reform and the resulting improvements in the people's quality of life. However, behind the scenes in this flourishing city are countless lesser-known--yet terrifying--infringements on human rights.

This February, in order to find out the truth, I went to some areas in Shandong Province and investigated the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong and the harming of these citizens. The reality is suffocating. The shocking reality is far beyond any human disaster, is offensive to God, and has no purpose. Once you get involved, you will genuinely feel and see the continuation of such a disaster.

Last June, I borrowed a copy of the Falun Gong book, Zhuan Falun. I held it up and began to read. While reading it, strangely, my throat and chest became comfortable. In just one day, I was able to take care of things in my day-to-day life all by myself. In two days, I could take care of the household chores. My wife, who used to weep for me, began to smile.

My daughter benefited both in mind and body from practising Falun Gong. When the government-controlled media began to slander and smear Falun Gong in July 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal the illegal rulings against Falun Gong. She believed that she was being responsible to society, to her country, to others, and to herself by exercising her basic right of appeal as guaranteed by the Chinese Constitution. She hoped the government would be practical and realistic enough to resolve the issue of Falun Gong amiably

Dad once handwrote a copy of the prophesy book and gave it to a friend. During the Cultural Revolution, boys and girls of the so-called "Red-Army Guards" broke into people's homes searching for things. Out of fear, my father's friend tried to hide the book under the roof shingle, but was seen and reported to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The copy was found, and eventually traced to my father. In those crazy days in 1968, under the brutal rule of the CCP, my innocent father was persecuted to death for possessing a traditional prophesy book.

He said to my shyly: "I remember now. When I was transporting goods for a construction company today, I saw a pile of bamboo fencing in the field. So I put two of them into my truck, thinking that it would be convenient to use them to block two sides of the truck when I transported the goods again. As soon as I put them into the truck, my back started to ache and it's has been aching all day long. Upon your asking, I now understand that I should not have taken such petty gain unfairly. It was probably Master Li who was telling me not to do wrong."

After she arrived home, she continued to silently repeat, "Falun Dafa is good," and "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance are good." Her external injuries - leg and shoulder - did not hurt. She only received two more days of intravenous drips and took some medicine to strengthen her bones. She was convinced by the magical power of Falun Dafa, and started to read Zhuan Falun. After half a month, she was able to move her leg and after 40 days she had basically fully recovered.

"After awhile, my father said, "I stole just one time, but I saved the lives of an entire village. There were more than 100 families, so the heavens increased my life by 20 years. Heaven is fair. Now, thinking back on those years during which people starved to death, it is truly chilling. In some villages, more than ten entire families died. In our village, nothing bad happened. If anyone came to our village, such as a villager's in-laws and their grandchildren, we provided meals and water for them. I never let anyone who came to our village die."

An official of a certain village in Zhoukou City, Henan Province had met with Falun Dafa practitioners a number of times, whom took the chance to tell him the truth about the practice. He had also read some material detailing the facts about Falun Dafa. Once a policeman came to the village to harass the practitioners and asked the village official to call the practitioners in for fingerprinting. The official replied: "Those practitioners are all good people. Why do you want to fingerprint them?" Thus the police left empty-handed.

Since China's former president Jiang Zemin launched the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, according to incomplete statistics, more than 180 forced labour camps in China have directly participated in the persecution through illegal forced labour of over 200,000 Falun Gong practitioners. In addition to forced brainwashing and torture, China's labour camps also force a large number of Falun Gong practitioners to work as slave labourers.

Sara's father learnt from the TV news that the Chinese government had banned a practice called Falun Gong, which combined exercises for health with moral teachings. He was immediately interested in learning more about Falun Gong and he thought to himself, "If the Chinese Communist regime says it is bad, then it must be good."

In July of 2005, a safety guard in an area in Sichuan province abducted three Falun Dafa practitioners who were then taken to the police station that controls that area. It happened to have a director on duty. He asked the safety guard, "What have they done?" The guard said: "They distributed Falun Gong flyers and the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in this area." The director said seriously, "They are not bad people, just let them go."

In the middle of August, I started to practise Falun Dafa. After cultivating for two months, I again went to have a medical examination. A miracle happened. The doctor determined that not only had my cancer cells not proliferated, but also the tumour had become smaller than before. Even the doctor didn't dare to believe his own eyes. Falun Dafa is so miraculous. My personal experience allowed my relatives and friends to witness Falun Dafa's miraculous power. Some of them also started to practise after learning the truth.

My husband works in a government position. One day a female official boasted, "My daughter and I are both Communist Party members." A coworker replied, "Don't you have a 'plan B' for yourself?" When I chat with people, I find that many people have broken the Internet blockade and know the truth about the persecution and related matters.

One day, Ms. Liu found an item containing an ID card, 316 yuan in cash, a bankcard, and a swimming admission card. She found the owner from the address on the ID card and returned the lost items. The owner was very happy and touched. Ms. Liu said, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Our Teacher taught us to behave this way. You should thank our Teacher." The family said, "We could have guessed you must be a Falun Gong practitioner. An ordinary person won't have such high moral standards."

Falun Dafa practitioners from Shanxi Province in China went from house to house to talk to the residents about Falun Dafa and the true facts about the persecution. After these practitioners' efforts nearly ten thousand people in villages all across the province came to know the truth about Falun Dafa. In addition, among those who learnt the truth, thousands who had joined the Chinese Communist Party or the Communist Youth League have quit those organisations at all levels.

Several officers from the public security department came to my house to search for me and found nobody, so they went to my workplace to find me. My supervisor did not want to see them and found some excuses to avoid them. These officers then stayed in the reception room and showed no intention of leaving. They asked the receptionist for water to drink because they were very thirsty. But the receptionist did not pay attention to them at all and said: "You deserve to die of thirst. Why do you always arrest good people?" The officers then had no choice but to leave.

For instance, at that time, all the media outlets in the country were broadcasting a story about the so-called extravagance of the founder of Falun Gong's house. Suddenly, the station at which the practitioner worked received an order to stop broadcasting the story. From that moment, this propaganda video was immediately withdrawn and never seen again. We know that all those so-called "news investigations" were never anything other than schemes to slander and persecute Falun Gong.

After experiencing the lengthy and painful process of being completely loyal to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), then being suspicious and disappointed, and in total despair, I defected and resigned from all posts, internal and external, that I held to the CCP in September of 2001. Recently, I went public to expose the evilness of the CCP. What I would like to share with you today is why I have broken away from and exposed the current state of the CCP. I hope my speech can help you gain a clearer understanding of the CCP.

The weather forecast is something people can now understand, but the deeper reason behind all disasters is actually that which people cannot understand. These reasons have a close relationship with humanity's intentions, behaviour, morality, and integrity. The ancient people said, "God's eyes are like electricity." They believed "Good will be rewarded with good and evil will be met by evil," and believed that disasters are warnings caused by man himself.

Aunt Zhao felt that aside from being a Consulate official, Chen Yonglin was a fine young man, and that he should not be led by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to do bad things. Aunt Zhao found an opportunity to speak with him and said, "Young man, no matter where you are, no matter how high-ranking an official you are, you need to have a conscience and truly serve the people, and not abuse the people. The government stays but officials will come and go. Can you guarantee that you will always be an official? Who will vouch for you when you are not an official anymore?" Chen Yonglin replied that he knew this.

Last June a fierce storm hit a village in China's Hebei Province, smashing most of the large greenhouses in the area. As a result, vegetable growers suffered great losses in their crops, with but one exception. It just so happens that the unharmed greenhouse belongs to a Falun Dafa practitioner. Although the plastic covers were old and the storm pulled the shed's bamboo posts more than one meter above the ground, the greenhouse remained standing. Therefore, the tomatoes in the shed were not damaged at all and the yield was the highest in the village. The villagers were all shocked and envious. They said, "Look! Falun Gong practitioners are better off after all."

On July 5th, 2005, all work units within the Liaozhong County bureaus and departments received telephone messages from the 610 Office, urging those with practitioners to report numbers of the so-called "harmonious families after no longer practising Falun Gong." The 610 Office stipulated firm quotas. For example, the Liaozhong County No. 2 High School was mandated to report a specific number. Many officials and employees were tired of the demands and some unit leaders immediately rejected the demands and did not reply. This clearly shows that many people now understand the truth about Falun Gong and refuse to participate in the persecution.

The Chinese nation is a profound and ancient civilisation that has lasted more than 5000 years. Since it was seized by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime in modern times, however, these traditions have been under constant attack. In this cruel struggle, the philosophy of the CCP, which goes against the grain of traditional Chinese culture, spares no effort to destroy any time-honoured practices it deems necessary in order to instill the culture of its evil regime.

Some of them complained about the heat from the lights and about the light being in their eyes, and asked the staff to readjust the lights. For a moment the class became a little restless. In order to have everyone be able to focus on the Fa lectures, Teacher told the staff, "Readjust the lights towards me." The four hottest spotlights bathed Teacher in their light and intense heat. Teacher now was sitting in the very hot light in the middle of this sweltering August weather. Everyone in class saw Teacher's sacrifice and became absolutely quiet.

Before she started to cultivate in Falun Gong, her blood pressure was very unstable. From time to time it would suddenly rise and drop. She didn’t know whether she should take the medicine to make her blood pressure go down or vice versa. After practising Falun Gong for six months, this problem vanished. From then on, she has never asked for any sick leave.

On the eve of the International Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference, a lot of Falun Dafa practitioners reached the U.S. several days ahead of time so as to take part in activities to reveal the facts about the persecution and also to introduce the practise on the streets of New York. I met eight practitioners from Europe who came to New York to participate. They came via their own initiatives from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Russia to participate in the conference. They were very young and only spoke broken English; however this did not deter them from taking part in the activities. They brought with them their sincere smiles and honest and merciful hearts to participate in the activities alongside other practitioners.

At a people's representative delegates conference, when people were talking about a reporter for China Central TV's news show Focal Point defaming Falun Gong, this village Party Secretary spoke loudly, "Do not believe that propaganda from TV. You need to think for yourselves." In part due to his attitude, people's way of thinking began to change.
