Today, elderly Chinese people can still vividly recall the series of framing, fabrications and persecution cases during the "Anti-rightist" movement and the Cultural Revolution. After the economic reform and "opening-up" policies took effect, China's economy developed quickly and the financial environment loosened up, but the same cannot be said about the government's iron-fisted control on diversity of thought.

One sunny weekend, people saw an elderly Indian lady and her son come to the Falun Gong exercise site. When the graceful Falun Gong exercise music played, the mother started her journey of cultivation. After practising the exercises and watching Teacher's nine lectures, the next day, her ears were painful and itchy, and then, the magnificent world was not quiet any more, as she could hear again. Once more, tears flowed down her face.

The Yunnan Daily printed a story that claimed Mr. Xie Hongyu had become infatuated with Falun Gong and committed suicide. Then on September 24, the paper published another report entitled "The 'Golden Phoenix' Who Should Not Have Fallen from the Sky." Later, the CCTV (China Central Television) program Interview on Focal Points used the same story to create rumours to link Mr. Xie's death to Falun Gong. These were not independent reports; they were produced by government controlled media organisations.

In October of 1994, I had a heart bypass operation. After the surgery, my heart only had one-quarter of the functions a normal heart has. One year later, during a checkup, it was found that two of the vessels in my heart were clogged, which could lead to sudden death.

The campus was full of pictures of people who had died. As college students who respected science, we were sad for those Chinese people with no scientific knowledge; we both hated and sympathised with those Falun Gong practitioners. However, we did not think carefully about the obviously doubtful points in their logic: Why were so many people practising and cultivating it? Why did those terrible incidents, including the self-immolation, murder, and self-abuse, never happen before the 20th of July, 1999?

I related my miraculous recovery and improved character after learning Falun Gong. I also told the children that Master Li in the core text of Falun Gong, Zhuan Falun, says - “You should always maintain a heart of benevolence and a mind of kindness,” And that If I lived in China, it is very likely that I would be imprisoned in a Forced Labour Camp and tortured for following this principle. The children realised the great injustice and cruelty of the situation in China.

This photo was taken prior to the time when the persecution against Falun Gong was officially instated on the 20th of July 1999 by the former dictator of China, Jiang Zemin. The photo was shot on the 29th of August, 1998 when Falun Dafa practitioners in Taiyuan City held a group practise session of the Falun Gong exercises.

Now over 10,000 perpetrators were listed by the International Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong. The names of many officials and police in Chongqing City appear on the “List of Perpetrators.” Once one’s name is recorded on the “List of Perpetrators,” they will be arrested when travelling abroad. Besides, the perpetrators, just like the World War II prisoners, will be brought to the court; the perpetrators will face lawsuits against them just like the evil police who were shot to death for their crimes committed during the Cultural Revolution.

Chang Su-shing teaches students earnestly and tirelessly and has been frequently recognised by educational units. She was awarded first place in a teacher evaluation among junior high schools at Kaohsiung. The Ministry of Education also acknowledged her because of her outstanding performance. In 2002, the Bureau of Education in Kaohsiung proclaimed Chang Su-shing as an "Extraordinary Teacher."

Guards in Xinyu Detention Centre of Jiangxi Province hammered 7-inch (~18cm) long spikes through her hands and ankles in July. It was reported earlier that Ms. Dong was abducted to the Xinyu Detention Centre after her home was illegally ransacked. It was said that she was severely tortured for three days and then nailed to a wood board by the authorities because she refused to denounce Falun Gong.

It was reported that the Chinese Communist Party regime has installed a high-power antenna in Kashi, Xinjiang Province, and also installed similar facilities in more than 10 other areas including Hainan, Nanjing, Urumqi and Kunming. These facilities include 500-kilowatt transmitters (type TSW2500) and ALLISS huge 360-degree-rotational tower antennas to transmit short wave frequencies. They use "sky wave" jamming technology to eliminate the foreign media's possible influence on Chinese people.

Be it in financing the national debt or putting the money in the bank, the people's concern is whether or not they can get back their principal and interest when the time is due. Be it issuance of national debt, a raise in the interest rate or attracting foreign investments, those in power are hoping to alleviate the economic crisis. However, what China is encountering now is a huge economic black hole as a result from the five-year long persecution of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

When higher authorities come to inspect, the centre does something to ensure a favourable review. For example, there is usually no meat for the inmates, but during the inspection a big slice of meat will be put into every inmate's bowl. But the inmates are told beforehand, "You are not allowed to eat it!" Then when the inspection is over, all the meat is collected. Some inmates were so starved that they ate the meat. As a result, they were beaten first, then thrown into a pool to soak, then exposed to the hot sun.

It was hard, solemn, and stirring to make the choice, because they hoped to take the rare chance to tell the international community the truth. But on the other hand they were worried about his safety. Meanwhile, some other Falun Gong practitioners, ignoring their life or death situation, were ready to rush out to meet the visitors in order to tell them the inside story about the persecution.

The Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong has not only violated international human rights principles, but also severely violated the current Chinese Constitution and Laws. In order to deceive the public, Jiang Zemin has gone all out in taking advantage of superficial regulations to cover up his real motives, and disguised with the so-called "legal" lingo, he has brutally trampled human rights. In this paper, I will analyse how the persecution of Falun Gong is in direct violation of Chinese Law from several perspectives.

Tapping the phones of Falun Gong practitioners outside of China by Chinese embassies is a common practice, as there are numerous cases to prove this, some of which are evidence in lawsuits against the former president of China Jiang Zemin and the Chinese embassies. The persecution of Falun Gong is obviously not limited to China; there are officials and staff of the Chinese embassies and consulates putting a large amount of effort into the monitoring of Falun Gong practitioners' phone conversations outside of China.

After being weak and unhappy for decades, my life changed completely. I felt so much better and could eat all kinds of foods that I dared not eat before. My wife remarked over and over on how much better I looked. When I rode my bike to my brother's place, I did not feel as tired as I was before. On the next day, I could still ride my bike to go to my other brother's place. My face turned a ruddy colour, and my weight also increased to a healthy level. Everyone around me was amazed by my dramatic improvement.

I lay in bed, without being able to get up, for more than four months. Looking at my husband and daughter who were both tired and worried, and looking at my own condition, I felt that I would rather die. Bedridden day in day out, I would not have survived without the aid of the injections. I was a huge burden to my husband and daughter. At one point, one of my neighbours helped to prepare for my funeral.

In 1992, Falun Gong was introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi. Those who have been close to Falun Gong practitioners would attest to the inherent goodness of this practice, and how it has completely changed people for the better. Through the practice, elderly people have become healthier, couples on the verge of divorce were brought back together, selfish and crafty businessmen changed to follow more upright business ethics, and young men and women enticed by the deviated notions of today's youth stopped indulging in self-destructive activities and became noble men and women.

Article 35 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of China states: "The citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy the freedom of speech, publication, association, parade, and demonstration." The "Six Prohibitions" deprived citizens of their freedom of association, demonstration, and speech. The Constitution is the overall law of the nation. Any other laws or local regulations contradicting the Constitution should not be enforceable.

Before I took up the practice of Falun Dafa, I was in a dire situation, afflicted with numerous illnesses. Indeed, there was not a spot on my body that didn't hurt. My lung function was about 30% of that of a normal person and I relied on an oxygen tank to breathe. It was difficult for me to eat and speak as I was extremely weak, and I had to live while relying on an oxygen tank and a wheel chair.

The five exercises were very easy to learn. I found that what was more important was to cultivate one's heart, measuring oneself by the universal characteristic of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. We needed to get rid of our attachments to self, jealousy and when conflicts happen, look inward. If we could do that, we would achieve a peaceful mind and good health. Our Teacher specifically taught us not to be involved in politics, and not to treat patients. Through our own cultivation, one will achieve good health.

Prior to the interview, they had called Gao to the factory's workers union office and gave him "ideological education." They told him to cooperate, repeat what they had presented to the TV audience, and assist them to "expose and criticise" Falun Gong. Gao didn't want to lie to the TV audience and refused to do that. Seeing that they couldn't get what they wanted, they locked him up in a small room in the workers union office for a whole day.

I study Western medicine and have a certain understanding of the treatment and recuperation process of certain diseases. When I was young, I suffered from various conditions. In the years right before I practiced Falun Gong, I was afflicted with a stomach ulcer, stomach bleeding, a stiff back, inflammation of the eye, dizziness and sciatic nerve pain. These problems took turns attacking me. Treatments could only suppress them temporarily and could not prevent them from recurring.

In China, the persecution of 100 million innocent Falun Gong practitioners has lasted for more than five years. Now that Jiang has stepped down, this national catastrophe should be immediately stopped. The persecution of Falun Gong has caused the deaths of more than 1000 innocent people from beatings and torture, has utilized vast resources and affected almost all of the people in China. All the murderers who initiated and participated in the persecution should also be punished.

The media controlled by the former President of China Jiang Zemin has advertised to the entire world that the protection of human rights is written into the Constitution. Inside China, however, the people have not paid much attention to such information. It is because everyone knows that the Jiang regime is used to having its power replace the law. The claim of constitutional protection of human rights is one story while the reality is another.

When I was a teenager, I wondered why I hadn't been born in ancient India 2500 years ago, and thus couldn't personally hear the Buddha Law. I thought sentient beings could no longer transcend the Three Realms and that we would have to go through the reincarnation cycle of samsara forever.

The Chinese Constitution stipulates that citizens may believe in religion or not believe in religion; they may choose to have any religious faith. As Chinese citizens, Falun Gong practitioners' faith in Falun Dafa is within their rights granted by the Constitution. Theirs is a faith in the practice's ability to enhance physical and emotional health as well as longevity, to elevate their moral character, develop compassion and truthfulness, enabling them to let go of greed, do good work, be a good wife or husband, a good parent to their children, be respectful of their parents, and to promote family harmony and a peaceful life.

Actually Falun Gong has spread to over 60 countries and is legal in all of them, and has been issued over 1200 proclamations from different countries and groups. In China, Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong is totally based on lies and slander spread through the media. If information flows freely on the Internet, Jiang's lies will be exposed quickly. Then nobody will trust him anymore. Here we can see clearly why Jiang and his clique blocks the Internet: liars are always afraid of the truth!

Since July of 1999, when the persecution of Falun Gong began, many Falun Gong practitioners have appealed to the "Two Appeal Offices" in Beijing, as stipulated under existing law. They were arrested and brutally beaten by the police and officials in Beijing and other cities. Most of them were taken to their area offices, which are based in Beijing. There they were tortured and then sent back to their hometowns for further persecution. They were cruelly beaten, money was extorted from them, and they were detained in forced labour camps. This kind of persecution has now been extended to the greater populace of China.

I suffered from all kinds of tribulations, and my whole body was severely ill. As a middle-aged person, I also suffered from stubborn colonitis. In an attempt to heal my illnesses I spent a large amount of money, but my health continued to worsen. When I was nearing the point of losing hope, a kind-hearted person told me about Falun Gong, and advised me to practice it.

For all of the millions of Falun Dafa practitioners in China today who continue to brave the fiercest of tempests, the unprecedented, relentless and brutal persecution against such a peaceful and traditional exercise practice.

The doctor told me, "This disease has been with you for at least twenty years, otherwise it could not have developed to this stage. This is a very rare disease and little is known about it. It will cause the muscles to continue to shrivel. There is no cure." The only way to preserve my life was to consume the spinal cord of a deer and trace elements. It was like a lightning bolt out of the blue! I could not do any household chores, and after lying down for a long time, the pain on the left side of my body was unbearable. I could not even sit still for half an hour.

I am a college student in Shandong Province, China, but I have had the most extraordinary experiences over the past five years because my mother is a determined Falun Gong (or Falun Dafa) practitioner. Jiang Zemin started his senseless persecution against Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, and after five years I continue to be touched by the efforts of practitioners in China. They have been unfailingly peaceful in the face of the ruthless torture and persecution, and they persevere in practicing Falun Gong and in telling people the truth about Falun Gong.

But in reality, according to discussions by specialists, to reconsider the application, or not regarding the document in relation to an administration issue, many central departments simultaneously transmitted the suppression decision documents to lower levels, which was in accordance with the order issued solely by Jiang Zemin that unilaterally represented the Party, the government, and the laws to order the transmission of the documents to lower levels. The procedure was illegal and in reality was in open defiance of the law.

"Out of respect and love for the Chinese people, plus to protect human rights, I cannot remain silent when confronting this brutal and illegal persecution. Human rights is the basic value of human kind, the human rights of everyone should be protected no matter where it is. As a human being, I should offer my help to people who have been persecuted for five years. Therefore, as a lawyer, I have filed lawsuits against Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan and Jia Qinglin in Spain. They are accused of committing genocide and torture."

"...What's the disagreement? The regime is fighting with the public. Furthermore, Falun Gong practitioners are all good people, and it's very hard to find them doing anything bad. You're forcing us to a fake program to denigrate Falun Gong, to frame Falun Gong by claiming they kill people? How can we do that kind of thing? We have no choice but to scrape it together! What is being broadcast are all fake films anyway. This will be just another failed political movement at the whim of Party elite. Those who suffer will all be common people!"

One day in mid-March of 1997, I had the most unforgettable day of my life. I met a friend on the street, and she asked me to go to practice Falun Gong. I didn't think much of it and went with her. At that time I knew nothing about the practice, I just followed the movements. Then, after a few days I suddenly had a big appetite. I ate three bowls of rice in one meal, whereas before I could only eat a small clump of rice due to the gastritis for the past decades. Without noticing, all the uncomfortable symptoms I had in the past disappeared completely.

Their unanimous verdict was that intracranial artery aneurysm is a rare and difficult disease to treat and the international medical community has yet to develop an effective cure for this disease. But after practising Falun Gong for just two months, my intracranial artery aneurysm miraculously disappeared. I experienced the joy of being completely healthy for the first time in my life. On July 20th, 1999, the regime of the former Chinese President Jiang Zemin violated the Constitution of the People's Republic of China and started a ruthless persecution against Falun Gong and its practitioners

With tears in their eyes, several inmates were very emotional and told me that if they had known Falun Gong and its teachings were about how to be a good person, they wouldn't have committed their crimes or ended up so badly. Each person involved in beating me up under police instructions came to apologise and asked me to forgive him for his wrongdoing under police pressure.

Over the past five years, the "6-10 Office" has been directly responsible for the abductions, detentions, brutal torture, and deaths of numerous Falun Gong practitioners. People call it the most powerful agency in China, just like the Gestapo during World War II. Knowing that the "6-10 Office," the largest terrorist organisation in over 5,000 years of China's history, is taking a role in "anti-terrorism" is enough to make one's blood run cold.

After I recovered, I immediately returned to the coalmine. The head of the mine, as well as those who knew what had happened, were all shocked to see me, "Have you really recovered?" The boss was still not convinced: "Come, walk around and let us have a look." I walked around naturally and showed them. The boss was stunned. With thumbs up he said, "Falun Dafa is good! Your Teacher is really extraordinary!"

At the same time, Jiang issued orders secretly at every level to force each governmental department to persecute Falun Gong. Furthermore, he issued the order to the police that "[practitioners] beaten to death will be counted as suicides."

Living under the crush of spiritual and psychological terror for so long, people's minds have been seriously distorted. The negative psychological factors like fear, distrust, suspicion, and hatred have caused people to lose their ability to think rationally and have exhausted their courage to protect their basic human rights and dignity. Furthermore, the dark side of human nature expands rapidly, resulting in violence. The huge psychological pressure created by the state terrorism is what led Yang Lirong's husband to lose his mind and murder his wife.

Our supervisor said, "You completely understand the new concepts in education reform and carry them through your teaching practice. You are an excellent teacher." As a matter of fact, this change has come about solely through my practice of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." In the process of my practising Falun Dafa, I have become more and more reasonable and clear-minded and I am able to see the essential parts of the problems with greater clarity. Therefore my class teaching keeps improving, which looked and sounded "new" to others.

I couldn’t get a visa to China to say goodbye to her, and I was heartbroken. They used this method to punish me for speaking up. My daughter asked me, “Why can’t we go back to China to see Grandma?” I replied, “Because we cannot get a visa.” She asked, “Why can’t we get a visa?” I said, “Because we practise Falun Gong.” She said, “Why is that we can’t get a visa because we practise Falun Gong?” I wept. I didn’t know how to explain it to her. This was the most painful thing for me.

But before I could even finish my sentence, his countenance suddenly changed and his enmity instantly appeared. I asked in despair, "Why would you rather believe in the Communists, who murdered your father, than in your own daughter?" He made a rather outrageous statement, “I have never believed in the Communists, but this is a different matter!" Why is it not the same? Can a wolf that feeds on sheep change to feed on grass?
