On the morning of the 24th of September, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Xianxin was arrested in Kunming City of Yunnan Province for distributing factual information about Falun Gong. Ms. Sun continuously spoke out to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and the real factors behind the start of the persecution to the police and the public while being to taken to the police station and during her stay there.

Actually, clarifying the truth about Falun Gong is not a situation of "the more materials the better." The key is whether we can thoroughly clarify the facts of Falun Gong and the persecution. I ask fellow practitioners (except those under special situations) to please think about this. Let's say you distributed or posted 100 items today, but do you know how many people can really understand the truth?

I never thought of searching within myself, and I just believed that my husband never thought about the family and was not in agreement with me. I even had resentment towards my husband's brother, feeling that they had asked for too much. My "sorrow" and "grievances" had all been brought about when my warped notions were challenged and when the interests of my "painstakingly managed" family were challenged. They were brought about by my attachments, which had existed subconsciously.

I always thought that I was an introverted person, as I did not like to talk and was also poor at expressing myself. When it came to talking to people face to face, I didn;t do so well because I was afraid that I could not talk well. As a result, I created many obstacles in my efforts to inform people with the correct facts about Falun Gong.

The attachment of pursuit can appear in almost any conflict or obstacle of people. Many troubles and tribulations Falun Gong cultivators have faced were also the result of not giving up past notions, which in turn resulted in undesired results.

As Fa-rectification progresses forward, practitioners who truly cultivate Falun Dafa are continuously improving within Dafa. Many practitioners, however, are still troubled by the attachment of lust. There are even some practitioners who are thought to be very diligent by everyone, yet, they still have this predicament to different extents. When sharing experiences with a group, it's difficult to address this subject. Therefore, I wish to share my experience and understanding about this issue.

From Master's Fa, I understand that how Falun Dafa practitioners treat Falun Dafa, how they see Dafa, how they see every thing in human society, and how they place themselves correctly in relation to Dafa and human society is fundamental and very important. If one doesn't have a clear understanding about these issues, then it will become an issue of whether one can truly assimilate to Dafa, reach consummation, and return to one's original self.

The third day, I was interrogated again. I remained silent. All I did was send forth righteous thoughts and request strength from Master. The interrogators left again. Through these days, I abstained from water and food from the moment I was abducted. On the third day, the guards and the head of the detention centre had a conversation with me, asking me to have food and water. I said that I committed no crime, and it was against the law for the police to arrest innocent people.

I love writing. I write essays and poems. I wrote a lot before I started to practice, and I continued afterward as well. However, the things I wrote were all for everyday society and with everyday people's thoughts. Of course, as a Falun Gong practitioner my writings naturally carry purity and glow. As a result, some people commented that my writings purify their heart and soul. They commented that they feel very peaceful and tranquil when reading my writings. Even so, I still didn't know how to make the connections between my writing and my cultivation during this special period of time.

When we visited the first waste collection station, we did not tell them exactly what we were looking for. As a result, we didn't find even one Falun Dafa book after searching through a very large pile of books. Learning from our experience, we then spoke about Falun Gong and the real reasons behind the persecution to the owners of the station when we visited the second one. They were very sympathetic and began to help look for Falun Dafa books for us. We visited a third, a fourth and even visited very distant waste collection stations to find Falun Dafa books.

"...the people in New York can be as nice and kind as you with regards to understanding and supporting us, then I will return home. If this result cannot be achieved, then I will continue my stay in New York." Aunt Tao said these English words very naturally, which was beyond her own expectations. Right after she said these words, tears started flowing from the woman's eyes. She tightly grasped both of Aunt Tao's hands as her tears streamed down her face. She could not say anything for quite a while. Before leaving, she kept asking Aunt Tao to take care of herself.

Why did the Falun Gong that I learnt sound so different from what was on TV? I was very confused. So I stayed at home to read Falun Gong books. I didn't communicate with other practitioners or look inward for my own attachments, yet I thought I was cultivating. In August of 2003, I received an email from another practitioner and learnt how to access Falun Gong websites. I downloaded Teacher's lectures, and started to seriously study the Fa [universal teachings, the principles taught in Falun Gong] and truly cultivate myself. Here are some of my experiences I have had whilst removing these attachments during my cultivation.

My passport was stolen when I travelled to Denmark in September 2002. In early November of the same year, I went to the Chinese Embassy at the Hague and applied for a passport renewal. I was told that the passport would be ready for a collection within three weeks. At that time, I thought nobody was aware that I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I received a phone call from the Embassy on November 15th, saying that my passport was ready for collection. Two days later, I received a second phone call, in which a staff member of the Embassy told me my passport wasn’t ready yet.

The key point is the leader is the main terrorist. They also know treating good people with this cruel torture can not be known to the public; therefore they don’t allow the media to disclose it. Exposing cruel torture will be treated with this cruel torture by the nation’s policemen. It even shows the terror in China as well as the horror of the Chinese autocrats.

There is a saying among people, "more haste, less speed." Some fellow practitioners always try to achieve quick results. They end up with little achievement instead. When a good practitioner or an enlightened being are faced with a difficult situation, I believe that they calmly and peacefully analyse their situations and handle them well with the wisdom they have learnt from the Dafa principles. They will calmly and unhurriedly work out what they are supposed to do and accomplish their missions.

Recently I found that some fellow practitioners do not have a clear understanding about the relationship among the three things that Teacher requires us to do and their relationship to stopping the persecution. Some practitioners expect an end to the persecution as soon as possible, but they do not take initiative in clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people.

I think, "How good it would be if all these new and veteran practitioners alike would step forward. That way, in a short time, all people across the whole country would know the truth." I have found that the best method for declaring the truth to people is to be able to adapt my speech according to their specific differences, so they will know that I am speaking directly to them as individuals rather than just "making a speech" to them. Among the many effective techniques for clarifying the truth, this one is unsurpassed.

Every being that can enter the new cosmos must achieve the state of selflessness and unselfishness, considering others first before himself. My personal understanding is that a cultivator and an enlightened being should completely assimilate to "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance." He treats every being with compassion and he will not have his heart moved by anything. The purpose of his existence is for the good of others.

From ancient times until around 100 to 200 years ago, people would take a commitment or a promise seriously, no matter if it was a formal pact or just an oral promise. People were careful about what they committed themselves to and once they did, they would stand to it forever, no matter how long it would be or how great a price it would cost. The Chinese idiom "keeping a promise is worth a thousand ounces of gold" is no exaggeration and is a most suitable description for how a promise was regarded.

Happiness has different levels of meaning. In any life, what I understand to be the highest level of happiness is to be able to study the Great Law. In my deepest thoughts, I know that I feel happiest when I am studying the Law, so I love doing it. It takes more than one hour for me to go to work every day. I recite one lecture of Zhuan Falun¹ on my way to work and I recite another when I come back home.

Every time her husband came back from business trips, she would complain of her father-in-law. Her husband could no longer bear it and replied angrily, "With such an attitude, you still want to become an enlightened person?" At first, she was angry with her husband, but then came to see her problem. A week later she came to see the root cause and dug it out. She studied the Fa with a peaceful heart.

Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful and persistent resistance against the persecution during the past five years has proven that the belief they hold dear is the true hope for China. Since Falun Gong originated in China and is connected with Chinese culture, the people of China can mostly accept these beliefs quite comfortably. Supporting Falun Gong is actually being responsible for bringing stability to the 1.3 billion Chinese people and is also being responsible for the stability of the future world.

For some time, a few fellow Falun Gong practitioners have been preoccupied with domestic disputes of varying degrees. They had difficulty distancing themselves from the situations, and thus the conflicts grew bigger and bigger. In this special period of Fa-rectification, dealing properly with domestic disputes is not as simple as dealing with personal problems. If we do not deal with these situations properly, they will not only affect ourselves, but also the image and reputation of Falun Dafa.

Indeed, "They can see us if we practice here." This is the very purpose. In order to have the Chinese tourists see the Falun Gong exercises with their own eyes and understand the nature of Falun Gong, these elderly practitioners in their 60's and 70's gave up practicing the Falun Gong exercises in the quiet park and have been demonstrating the exercises on the noisy sidewalk day after day, rain or shine.

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner who as a result has been tortured by police officers at a forced labour camp. I was shocked on the head for lengthy periods with an electric baton. As a result, I am disabled, as the nerves controlling my lower limbs were damaged and I can no longer walk. I will narrate my personal experience thoroughly so as to share with fellow practitioners, in a hope that this will enable all of us to do better in our efforts to let the worlds people know about Falun Gong and the persecution.

Although I studied Master Li's new articles every day, I was not as diligent in reading Zhuan Falun as I had been in the first few years. It is not the number of times that I have read the book that matters; it is the fact that I had slacked off inadvertently. Although there is a lot more work to do now than there was five years ago, the requirements of the Fa are higher, and I should not have slacked off in my Fa study. This shows that I was not very diligent.

There were numerous opportunities to meet various kinds of people in restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops in big hotels. Some were renowned professors, reporters, members of NGOs, or even high-ranking military officials from other countries. However, after a few days of walking around, sending forth righteous thoughts and giving out packages, I felt like we had not received any notable results. The notion of talking with a key figure from a world-class company never left my mind.

One day, a practitioner suggested setting up a Falun Dafa information centre at my home, which would involve myself and another practitioner. She promised to teach us to use the computer. But where would I find a person who could work with me? Some practitioners were too afraid. Finally, I found a female practitioner who we will refer to as Angie, who was responsible for material delivery, just like me. But she was disabled and was also less educated. Nevertheless, the Falun Dafa information centre was created.

First, a number of fellow practitioners were gathering together on several streets, and we noticed especially that many Falun Gong practitioners had congregated in a particular area on a narrow street. From a distance, we certainly appeared as a rather large group; however, we were unsuccessful in distributing materials. On the contrary, having a group of two to three practitioners doing the same job on other streets with photo displays and exercise demonstrations was very effective.

The anti-torture exhibition has generated great results, as it has given citizens of many different countries a direct understanding of the persecution. Many people are shocked by it, and they have condemned the persecution. One thing many Falun Gong practitioners have pointed out is that it should also demonstrate the practitioners' perseverance and their righteous belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" under those conditions of brutal persecution.

She looked at her mother and hesitated a little bit before she took a leaflet from me. Then she boldly stepped forward and said to me sincerely, "I hope you get what you want." I bent down slightly and looked into her big eyes, which were filled with sympathy, and said, "Thank you. You are a very nice girl. Please tell the story of Falun Gong to more people. That way you are helping us to stop the persecution." She was relatively young, so she was speechless for a while before she responded, "I will."

Of course, during those two days, we met some reporters who accepted our leaflets. One man in a business suit initially refused my leaflet until I said, "It's been five years, and more than a thousand people have been tortured to death." He immediately showed an interest in reading our material and put a copy of our newspaper in his suit pocket. Many people told us that they already knew about us and had been keeping track of our status.

Before reaching New York, we had the opportunity to tell people the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution in China in many places in North America . Most American’s are rather inquisitive and open to human rights discussions. Subjects such as freedom of belief and religious freedom are of great importance to Americans.

The book exhibition was opened for VIP's and specially invited guests for three days from April 13th. The general opening ceremony was held on April 16th, when it was opened to the public. The opening ceremony was grand as senators, mayors and foreign ambassadors all came to attend the event. Publishers from over 400 publishing companies and bookstores from all over the world came to attend. There were also special halls representing each of the Central and South American countries, introducing their cultural aspects.

I have noticed that many practitioners have not moved on from their understanding of being good in the context of everyday people and have not elevated. When conflicts happen, they tend to use the human mentalities to judge right or wrong without seeing their own attachments even when the same problems happen again and again.

I was practicing Falun Dafa, quietly participating in activities to introduce people to Falun Gong and the persecution, even as I kept busy with studies and my two positions in the student council. I graduated from college easily and even got an "Outstanding Student" award. More importantly, many of my classmates were able to understand the truth about Falun Dafa's situation and learnt that Falun Dafa is good.

The effectiveness of our truth-clarification is not only a test of how well we study and assimilate the Fa, but also a test of how effectively we send righteous thoughts. If we hold our attachments tightly when clarifying the truth it will offset the effectiveness of our truth-clarification and maybe it will also become a loophole that will be taken advantage of.

We should not have the concept of being happy or unhappy. It was inevitable that the evildoer would step down, and this event has nothing to do with what we Falun Dafa practitioners need to do.

As many practitioners have felt, writing experience-sharing articles is a process of rational thinking, cultivation, and self-improvement. Even if initially our thoughts were wrong, not very rational, or not pure enough, this is an opportunity for us to reflect, to see how much improvement we have made in our thinking and actions after a period of studying the teachings of Falun Gong and showing people the true facts about Falun Gong, and to learn from our shortcomings and failures.

I was continuously tortured both physically and mentally whilst I was being detained at the Xindian Female Forced Labour Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province of China. Such long-term suffering, however, could not change my determined heart. When I looked within throughout that experience, I also found many of my own attachments.

One day when I was practising the Falun Gong exercises, an old Scottish man came over and said to me, "Young man, I have observed you for a few days, and I am really touched. Nowadays, there are very few young men like you. You are really brave. Carry on. What you are doing is great." When I heard this, tears streamed down my cheeks.

I did not understand why I started to practise so late. I know now that everything happens for a reason. First, as a new practitioner, no one has been watching me; secondly, with a stable job and income, I am in good financial shape; thirdly, I have basic computer skills; and fourthly, I have a good family environment, so I have ample time and energy. Everything comes or forms for Falun Dafa. If we have the means but do not do what we should do, that will be our biggest regret. Haven't we been waiting for this day for thousands of years?

This desire changed a simple book-reading meeting to a time where Falun Gong practitioners would gather together to phone people in China to explain to them about Falun Gong and the persecution. Everyone agreed that it was a good idea to use the phone to call the Chinese people, police stations, forced labour camps and related authorities.

For these reasons, talking about the persecution against Falun Gong from the legal perspective becomes especially important. We should help people understand that persecuting Falun Gong violates our nation's Constitution and the law. Jiang Zemin and his followers, who controlled all of the state's resources to persecute Falun Gong, are the ones breaking the law, and the line of attack during the persecution is illegal and criminal.

We met two mayors. One mayor opened a heavy door for us when we struggled to enter the town hall. We talked to him, thinking that he was a receptionist. Another mayor, who was attending a local meeting, rushed back to his office when he noticed us in the hallway. He came to greet us and shook our hands. It was as if we were being reunited with a family member.

He said "If Falun Dafa can cure my wife's illness then Teacher must be very great. How can I be left out when Teacher was to give a lecture in Guangzhou?" At that time, I only had one ticket for his wife. I didn't have a spare ticket for him. He said, "Even if I can't go in to attend the lecture, it would be my honor if I could simply see Teacher." So he insisted on going with us. After we arrived in Guangzhou, his wife and I went in to listen to the lecture. He, along with over 500 other people who didn't have tickets, sat outside the stadium to listen to Teacher's lecture, which was broadcast via loudspeakers.

One woman hung up the phone out of fear as soon as she heard that the call was from Taiwan and that Falun Gong was mentioned. We called again and this time a gentleman answered. After he heard from us that anti-torture exhibitions are being held in many countries, that many people in Western countries know Falun Gong is being persecuted in China, and that many people support Falun Gong, he told us with joy that he is also a Falun Gong practitioner.

We still need to further expose the persecution and rescue incarcerated fellow practitioners. More importantly, we cannot be attached to who is in power and other things of ordinary society, because our path of validating Dafa is the greatest and most solemn, and is not determined by a certain leader of state in ordinary society. We cannot rely on ordinary people even slightly.

There was a thought in my mind: “The three local practitioners did not seem to participate in handing out the leaflets. I should have involved them in the activities.” I was shocked to realise that the scenes in the dream had reflected my actual situation. When I arrived at the fork of the road, I became reluctant to travel alone. When somebody guided me to resume my journey, I rejected to let go my attachment. Not to advance is to go back.

When facing everything, if we truly don't have any personal notions or self-interest in mind, then we are considered selfless and are assimilating to the characteristic of the cosmos, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." Others are capable of sensing this. The things we do under such conditions will naturally have a good effect. That is indeed letting go of one's own self and being responsible for one's self and others. I deeply realised that only by being truly selfless can we be clear away obstacles and resolve everything.
