There is a saying “you only appreciate something when you no longer have it.” This is so true especially in terms of my recent trip to HK. I experienced a minor fraction of what it might be like to be detained for no valid reason. To have no freedom, but this was for a limited time only. I would like to share my recent experiences that are valuable to my cultivation.

On the 4th day, they told me that I would be sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, and I said calmly, "I am not going to Masanjia, and I will not betray my belief." They then went to another room, leaving me to myself. I practised the exercises, sent forth righteous thoughts and recited Teacher's articles. After I finished practising the five exercises, I walked out of the room.

At this moment I wish to dedicate a special thought to all those practitioners who have lost their lives in China or those who are being tortured, persecuted, separated from their families or discredited, simply for defending the truth with benevolence. From a western nation, Spain, I want to transmit my solidarity, deepest respect and support and the petition of justice for those evil crimes against humanity.

Sometimes it feels hard but I know its just an illusion which I have to jump out of. I often feel that I don’t do well enough, and that I am not worthy, but at the same time I remember that I must not think like that, because it is slowing me down, instead this should be an impulse that motivates me. I have to keep going and always think of the ones that may still be saved.

I decided to go to Beijing to validate Dafa, to show people the immense value of the system and to tell about my miraculous healing. The sky in Beijing was dark due to a sandstorm. Tiananmen square was full of people. It was divided by police bars and was full of people in uniforms, policemen, police vans and under- cover police. I lifted my arms and began to sing "Falun Dafa Hao". People all around me fled away, as if shrinking...

There are no models in cultivation practice. Every step within it should be steadfast. However glorious one’s Fa-rectification experience is, we should not treat it with human mentalities and accrue the attachment of zealotry or adoration but concentrate on what we should do with rationality.

At 11:30am, 18th March 2003, several hundred Falun Gong practitioners were sitting peacefully on the square in front of Palace Des Nations when it was announced that a lawsuit against Jiang had been filed by the Falun Dafa Associations to the International Criminal Court. Several practitioners were asked by a reporter to express their thoughts and reactions to this news.

One night, when several practitioners got together, police suddenly broke into the room, and illegally kidnapped them. At that moment, one practitioner had only one thought in her mind, "I cannot be arrested. I will firmly deny all of this." In the face of the vicious people, she was very calm. She questioned those police sternly and uprightly, and stopped their illegal acts.

Understanding others is a manifestation of having a sense of being one body. Only through that can we truly take other people's matters as our own and truly care about others, not just superficially. Understanding others is rewarding and precious. Understanding others is powerful and can enable communication under any circumstance. Understanding others displays our Tolerance. Understanding others is noble and virtuous.

I think we should not only do things, but improve on the inside as well; all that we come across is also cultivation. I just feel that I might not always do Dafa work out of understanding and out of compassion. I feel that sometimes I don’t do something with my heart; instead of doing one thing right, I run around everywhere and try doing everything. The result is that, it may look from the outside that I do alot, but in reality I don’t.

When people compose music to express pleasant feelings and noble thoughts, this kind of music is bound to be delightful. Nice music originates from a virtuous heart, has the foundation of moral excellence. Only then it is graceful music. In addition graceful music is only fully appreciated by a virtuous heart.

Looking at the female practitioners carrying the wreaths, I could see that they were not simply carrying these wreaths, they were bearing them with the deepest of respect for the tragic waste of these lives. I was deeply touched by the heart-felt reverence that showed in their solemn faces and in their slow and dignified footsteps.

No matter whether the persecution is aiming at Dafa disciples in mainland China or overseas disciples, it is actually aiming at all Dafa disciples. Even if we are not the direct targets, we are still under the test of what is on our mind and how we react when other Dafa disciples are being persecuted. The indifference to the persecution of other Dafa disciples is by no means a state that a Dafa particle should be in.

When confronted with problems, we automatically think of what we have done, how others feel about our cultivation, what attachments we have, how we think this should be done etc. It is all self centered. But in terms of what it means in Fa rectification, how it affects the overall situation, what the overall situation requires, what we can do to make the overall situation better--these things are often forgotten.

The practitioners wife put on her clothes, stood by the door and reprimanded the evil policemen loudly, "If you dare to break in shamelessly like this, I will not let you get away with it. My husband practices Falun Gong and has done nothing wrong. Instead of catching criminals, you spend all your time kidnapping Falun Gong practitioners.

Whether the persecution is against practitioners inside China or abroad; whether the damage is physical or financial; whether the forms of persecution are savage beatings or hypocritical deception, the evil targets the Fa, not practitioners. Therefore, our hearts need to be united as one, although our tasks may be different.

We all know the importance of studying the Fa, yet many of us make excuses for ourselves and do not study the Fa with a calm mind. I know some practitioners who have not read the book, practiced the exercises, or sent forth righteous thoughts for a long time. The three things that Teacher asked us to do apply to every Dafa practitioner.

Sometimes on my way to the consulate, it did not rain, but as soon as I sat down outside the consulate, it would start raining with gusts of wicked wind. Once when I was sending forth righteous thoughts in the rain, at first I felt suppressed as if a heavy stone were weighing down on me. Some time later, my legs were in pain even when I did not have them crossed, my arms and back starting aching.

I realised that the different approaches practitioners use actually amounted to only different task allocations. Often the people we clarify the truth to won't immediately believe what they hear at first. Results are eventually almost always only achieved through joint efforts by different practitioners, using a variety of means.

I indeed have a lot of areas that need to be corrected during cultivation. What was deemed a great virtue in the past now becomes the biggest obstacle. When I consider habits like sticking to the rules and being uncompromising, as well as qualities that I refused to consider as positive in the past, it has often made me think twice.

I think, during our course of cultivation, Dafa disciples’ understanding of the Fa needs a process. (Of course, my current understanding is not absolutely right and perfect.) During the process, we naturally will talk about and think of the old forces to understand them further. When we really understand about them from the Fa, the word “old forces” should disappear from our thoughts and our views little by little because we do not even acknowledge them.

The second day in the parade, I came to realize more: Whether having a conversation with others, making an explanation, or distributing flyers, they are all to clarify the truth. I started to feel that we all are together. We are particles, just like some fellow practioners kept saying, “We participate in the parade together and we are a unity as a whole.”

The annual UN Human Rights convention is going to be held. Many practitioners will go to present a petition as usual. At the last stage of the Fa-rectification period, facing this large-scale activity participating with the worldwide practitioners, how can we do better through the past experiences and lessons need us, practitioners all over the world, to have a clear understanding based on the Fa?.

A few days later, the elder sister told her mother, "Mom, I won't buy new clothing. I want to use my money to make truth-clarifying materials for people. We should distribute as many as we can. To reveal the facts is the most important thing." The younger sister came forward too, "I want to contribute my money too." The mother took the money and said, "You did the right thing. Very good! To clarify the truth is the most important thing."

My colleagues and I also chatted about Falun Gong. Who would be so stupid as to set themselves on fire on Tiananmen Square?" He also said, "We all know that Falun Gong is innocent and has been wronged. After I listened to what you just said, I will remember to treat Falun Dafa practitioners with kindness from now on."

To use everyday people’s concepts, the “good fortune” of Dafa practitioners can never be taken as “private property”. It is the blessing from Dafa. Since it is the blessing from Dafa, we should not emphasize the divisions of “yours”or “mine.” It belongs entirely to Dafa.

Searching inside does not mean one will truly lose something valuable, but in fact it means losing the useless, filthy human notions at the surface and the attachments these notions give rise to. These are bad things that can restrict a person firmly to an undesirable realm and bring that person to the brink of destruction.

The head of the forced labour camp said to the local police officers, "Please be kind to her, what you are asking is nothing for her, she has suffered a lot."

I used my personal sufferings in the forced labour camp to expose the evil persecution. More and more people were attracted to the scene to listen to me. After my throat was too dry to speak anymore, my husband would continue. Over ten policemen hid behind the building and did not dare to come out, they kept on asking for more policemen to come by using their walkie-talkies.

After waking up, he found some of Master Li’s articles about clarifying the truth. He finally enlightened, “Every Dafa practitioner has to save the sentient beings that are related to him. Others can only play the role of assisting you. Each and every Dafa practitioner has the mission to save sentient beings, no matter if they think they cultivated well or not.

...My heart was touched by Teacher Li’s words, and I awoke immediately. I suddenly felt relieved as if all the worries were discarded. I remembered, in the initial stage after I started to practise Falun Gong, I was moved by these words so deeply that whenever I thought of them, I felt that there would be nothing to worry about down the road of cultivation as long as we trust Teacher Li.

Upon receiving the news that Lili was sent to the Deportation Centre in Manchester International Airport, some UK Falun Gong disciples drove there in the early morning of Thursday. We exchanged understanding of Fa during the ride. We all believed we, as a unity, had to keep up the strength of our righteous thoughts no matter what would happen. That is, we had to get Lili out of the Deportation Centre. We should not allow her be deported to China.

What most moved me is the 24-hour peaceful appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy in London. Lili tried her best to support this activity. Whenever she had time, she would go to London and sit in front of the Embassy. I think the officials in Embassy would be very familiar with her face. When Lili was there, normally she spent almost all the time on studying the Fa and practising the exercises.

Around noon, a few practitioners stood around to practise the exercises somewhere in the Square. When the police rushed over to them, the two of us unfurled our banner and shouted "Falun Dafa is good" and walked west and then east so that more people could see us. A few minutes later, the police snatched our banner. Then I heard "Falun Dafa is good" from behind us. It turned out that a few more practitioners had raised a banner with a yellow background and red characters.

The day the local police station chief asked us to leave, I clearly stated, "I will not leave here unless you promise me that you will not slander Falun Dafa, and will not go to Falun Dafa practitioners' homes in the future to arrest them." The village public security chief promised me that they would not do so anymore. That same day they released us.

Being unable to search inside oneself manifests in different degrees at different levels. At the lower levels, one cannot let go of defending one's own notion of selfishness. One fears being hurt, losing something, and having less than others. In fact, searching inside is not being weak, but a wise action and a good start toward goodness.

If the letter met their requirements, they would report it to their superior requesting for a release. A mere repentance letter would set people free. It was quite a temptation to anyone. For several nights I was thinking: Could my belief in Dafa be shaken by temptation? Should I believe the lies of those evil persecutors?

A significant number of Chinese practitioners in our country are claiming asylum. Practitioners, either those claiming asylum or those who are not, have different ideas and attitudes about this issue. During this Fa-rectification period, I think we should discard all notions that we have developed in our personal cultivation, and think of this asylum issue from the perspective of Fa-rectification and saving sentient beings.

Different from any secluded cultivation way in history, Dafa practitioners mainly practice in the human world, and they cultivate and improve themselves in the daily life, study and work of society. It is therefore normal that Dafa practitioners encounter issues involving family, marriage and feelings between a man and a woman. How should we look at these issues, regarding the morality associated with marriage?

When I heard that Weiguo Xie’s fiancée, Yongjie Zhu, had been illegally arrested in China, I was very sad and anxious. When I read an article written by Weiguo which mentioned that, although Weiguo’s parents were against their decision to get married, Yongjie still waved him off with a smile when he boarded the airplane for Britain, my heart was touched, and I could not hold back my tears over her benevolence.

She had on a smile on her face and talked about her cat that had left this world in a peaceful yet nostalgic tone. I was astonished to discover that all of a sudden, I was very touched. Touched by the gentleness and friendliness of the cat. Touched by how much she misses it as she reminisces over the little details of the memories of the cat.

I am always happy, full of energy and reasonable. The supervisors and colleagues from my original work unit said: "This person would not be able to handle all of this if he were not practising Falun Gong. If we had been in that situation, no one could suffer through it. We respect Teacher Li." One colleague told me: "When you introduced Falun Gong to me before, I didn't care for it. Now I want to learn it from you as I can see that it will be a great benefit to me."

Knowing that the persecution shouldn't exist we kept sending forth righteous thoughts. The two male practitioners left through the side door from the second floor. We, the two female practitioners, decided to go out in a noble and dignified way through the front door. By that time, all the policemen were waiting at the front yard of the apartment building. Talking and smiling, the two of us walked through the watchful eyes of two policemen.

In the past three years, we have held appeals through parades, hunger strikes, SOS walks, press releases and through the European Falun Gong Information Centre, we have persisted in disseminating cases of persecution in China. Even though these have brought some enthusiastic feedback, on the whole, the results have not reached our expectations, therefore, what shall we do?

My colleague on the project had some prior film making experience, yet we were both amateurs with little skill in this area. The small team that had been assembled managed to produce a film in about five weeks. I look at it this way: Even though we are not professionals, with our noble hearts we can accomplish great things for Falun Dafa.

The practitioner said: “At that moment, my friend did not notice that you were looking at that painting as well, and her act hurt you. We apologize. The artist hopes that you would select a painting you like, and she would like to sign the painting and present it to you.” The lady nodded her head quietly, and both of them went back to the exhibition together.

Something happens to me when I wake up in the morning. It happens often, nearly every night, that I wake up in the very early hours of the morning and cannot sleep any more. Yesterday unrolls all over again in my mind’s eye and this time I can see when and sometimes also why I have not behaved as a practitioner should have.

However, I definitely will not forget the day you came to me with 200 Yuan before October 1st this year. You happily said to me, "Mom, this is a contribution for truth clarification. This month the salary given to me was larger." Do you know how happy I was? Later due to the fact that you were a good worker, you had another wage raise. You said to me, "Mom, I will take out 50 Yuan every month for truth clarification."

One associate head of a work unit happened to be the husband of a Falun Gong practitioner. When his work unit held a meeting to discuss whether or not they needed to form a "610" office [see main text for explanation], the husband opposed the establishment of such an office and stated the disadvantages of doing it. Other leaders agreed with him, as they were suspicious of the police.

When I am connected from the bottom of my heart through the pictures of practitioners who were practising exercises and sending righteous thoughts, it was just like I transcended the limitation of time and space and joined everything through righteous thoughts with them.
