  • Family of Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Persecuted for Their Belief; Both Parents Die Unable to Bear the Persecution

    Our whole family practises Falun Gong. It includes my daughter, son-in-law, one-year-old grandson and myself. For several years we have been suffering from the persecution by Jiang Zemin's political gang. We were arrested many times; after each time we were brutally tortured. Both of my parents died one after another because of the severe pressure caused by the persecution, which was beyond what they could bear. My husband also could not bear the pressure and came down with several serious illnesses.

    Ms. Qiu Liying, a 45 year old Dafa practitioner from Shijiazhuang, was brutally tortured and beaten by police at the Tangshan Kaiping Labour Camp, because of her firm belief in Falun Dafa and the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. During that time, she was once sent to the Tangshan City Ankang Hospital (a psychiatric hospital) and locked up with male drug abusers and psychiatric patients.

    Since the 60th session of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights was held on March 15, human rights abuses in China have received much attention. According to Clearwisdom.net reports, confirmations and information on the torture death of 83 practitioners have come from sources in China starting with practitioner Liu Chengjun's torture death on December 26, 2003, until April 5, 2004. There was a death case reported almost every day. Twenty-six of the deaths occurred this year, within the first three months of this year.

    "I was shocked and very sad when I heard the news that Mr. Wang Zhande, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chongqing City, had died from persecution. I would like to share some stories about him. Wang Zhande, 65 years old, was a veteran Party member who worked for Chongqing City Nanan Electricity Power Bureau. I met Mr. Wang in the Xipingshan Labour Camp's Strictly Monitored Group. He started practising Falun Dafa prior to 1996. In the summer of 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. As a result, he was arrested and imprisoned in a Chongqing City Detention Centre for a long period.

    The village leaders and most of the villagers were angry and unhappy about the unlawful activities conducted by the town "610 Office" and the police. Someone said, "Why can we not watch the VCD? Locking them (the practitioners) up for no reason is not fair. I could barely get 120 yuan a month for my retirement. A fine of 3000 yuan for an investigation fee plus the poor quality of food in the jail makes me wonder where all the money goes?"
  • Jilin University's 60-Year-Old Associate Professor Yang Lingyun Dies from an Illness Resulting from the Persecution

    Associate Professor Ms. Yang Lingyun, 60 years old, was deeply anguished because of the suffering that her son, Gao Meng, suffered in a forced labour camp. Gao Meng could not endure the pressure in the forced labour camp and renounced Falun Gong. The pressure of being homeless and avoiding being unlawfully arrested by police, and worry over her son's miserable condition at the labour camp took a harsh toll on Ms. Yang. She was diagnosed with cancer and died in the hospital at the beginning of 2004. Due to Jiang's brutal persecution, another kind citizen in pursuit of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" has passed away, unjustly suffering mental and physical anguish in the process.
  • Extreme Brutality in the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp and Belated News of Several Deaths

    On March 19, 2001, the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp officials started a large-scale campaign of "Forceful Transformation" [to force practitioners to give up and renounce Falun Gong]. This savage "Forceful Transformation" caused one death and one severe injury among the practitioners. Two other deaths took place in the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp. One of the practitioners who died was Sun Lianxia, tortured to death on January 16, 2001. The other was practitioner Wang Qiuxia, who was beaten to death on June 10, 2001.
  • Weifang Police Use Threats and Violence to Try to Force Practitioner to Give Up His Beliefs

    Sixty-year-old Li Xiujiang, is a resident of Weifang City, Shandong Province. One day in May 2000, a group of local police, led by their supervisor, broke into Li Xiujiang's house and arrested him. They took him to the police station and hung him from a basketball backboard. After Mr. Li was tortured for the entire night by this group of vicious policemen, he was handcuffed and hung from a metal bed. Later the whole family were arrested and had to pay 400 Yuan each as a bail, so as to be released.
  • Liaoning Province High School Student Expelled for Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong

    On February 18, 2004, Shan Wu, director of the political and education department, used lies to slander Falun Dafa practitioners in his speech at a school-wide safety conference at the No.1 Senior High School in Changtu county, Liaoning province. Wang Zhe, a junior in the school, went to the supervisor's office to clarify the truth of Falun Gong that evening. The next day, Wang Zhe's father was asked to come to the school. The school authorities told him that Wang Zhe promoted Falun Gong to the teachers, so the school decided to expel him. Soon after he was arrested and sent to a detention centre.
  • Sudden and Mysterious Death in Detention of Shaanxi Province Practitioner Mr. Li Qinzhou

    Mr. Li Qinzhou and his wife Zhang Chunmei were both retired workers from Hua County Steel Company of Shaanxi Province. The couple started to practise Falun Gong in 1997 and benefitted tremendously. On June 19, 2002, a group of policemen suddenly broke into the home of the elderly couple's daughter's, ransacked the home and took away the couple. Mr. Li was sentenced to 2 years of forced labour. His wife spent one month in a detention centre. On November 25, 2002, Zhang Chunmei and her son went to visit Li Qinzhou and found he was in a good state. However, 4 days later news came that he had died. Zhang Bingyan, director of the prison, said Li died of a heart attack. At present Li Qinzhou's death still remains a mystery.
  • Healthy Woman in Her 30's Tortured to Dementia With Psychotic Drugs -- Dies Shortly After Release

    Ms. Wang Dongmei, in her 30's, was a schoolteacher in a town in Hebei Province. After a period in a labour camp, the police transferred her to a mental hospital to attempt to break her will and torture her with improperly administered psychotic drugs. When she returned home people immediately noticed that her mental state was poor. When asked what she was doing in the hospital, she replied slowly, "Take medicine and get jabs." When asked if she was forced to take medicine and injections, she said, "Yes." Wang Dongmei became mentally unbalanced due to the drug torture. She fell into a pond and, unable to save herself, drowned on March 12, 2004.
  • Criminal Deeds of Fang Simin, a Cruel Persecutor of Dafa Practitioners in Shandong Province

    Fang Simin, was promoted to vice director of the "610 Office"(1) in Mengyin, Shandong Province, as a reward for persecuting Dafa practitioners. To realize the "transformation" of practitioners by torture, he hired some jobless men (aged 18-22 and poorly educated) at a cheap price as his hatchet men in his detention place. He paid them 200 yuan a month and assigned them uniforms and did not let anyone know their names and addresses. Under Fang's instruction and incitement, these thugs freely beat and swore at the detained practitioners. Sometimes Fang personally participated in the torture.
  • In Memory of Fellow Practitioner Mr. Zhang Jianxun

    Mr. Zhang Jianxun was a 64-year-old resident of Hebei Province. He was jailed at the Shijiazhuang City Labour Camp, where he received brutal beatings and was also forced to work nearly 20 hours a day. The police denied him sleep and tortured him around the clock. He suddenly lost his memory and could not speak. The doctors diagnosed that he had suffered a stroke. On June 13, 2002, he passed away in the hospital despite emergency treatment.

    Five days later, the people who arrested me came. They made fun of me, saying that I was arrested even though I was not a practitioner. They told me not to practice and to say some bad words about Master Li. I said, "I won't curse, even my child won't curse. My whole family has benefited from Falun Dafa." The people from the police department replied angrily, "You will stay here if you don't curse Falun Dafa."
