On the third day, they took the sisters to a jail where Zhang Liang interrogated them. In front of another policeman Zhang said to them: "Your living or dying depends on what I say. As long as you are willing to pay, I can let you go with my one word." But how could they have any money? The 4,750 Yuan that Zhang took away was Fu Ruxian's retirement savings. Because they had no money, Zhang detained them for another 36 days.

All six members of Mr. Tian Fujin's family from Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, cultivate Falun Dafa and have become the main targets of persecution from the local lawless police. All six have been detained and sent to labour camps many times. Tian's wife, Liu Xiurong, filed an appeal against policeman Shao Jun for extorting money and harassment. Recently, Tian Fang, the eldest daughter of Mr. Tian, was arrested again when she went to prison to see her third sister and her father.

The next day when his neighbours came to pay him a visit, they found he had already left the world. The local residents all knew that he was a good person and he was tortured to death. The police officers Ma Aihui and Yuan Ye who persecuted Yu Xianjiang were promoted for their persecution of him. Another police officer named Bai was also responsible. These several officers had abducted nearly 100 local practitioners.

On the night of February 3, 2002, Ms. Fang's third daughter, grandson and granddaughter were planning on hanging some truth-clarification banners, when they were arrested by the police. The grandson was able to escape, however, the third daughter and granddaughter were sent to Masanjia Labour Camp. Ms. Fang was very worried about her children and grandchildren. The arrest was a heavy blow to her, and her health started to deteriorate. Nine months into her destitute life, she passed away on May 29, 2002.

Yet, at the end of December 2003, county police suddenly notified his wife, who was detained in the Yancheng Brainwashing Class, that she should go to the labour camp. To her horror, she only saw her husband's ashes. One male employee of the Houji Township government acknowledged Zhao's death, and said he died over 20 days ago (when people called in January). We have learned that besides Mr. Zhao Guo-an, two Falun Dafa practitioners have been tortured to death in the No.3 Labour Camp. They are young lawyer Li Jian, and Normal School teacher Yao Sanzhong, both 34 years old.

Guard Shen Jianwei from the No. 3 Labour Camp often said, "A while back, when the labour camp was short on funds and was about to be shut down, many Falun Gong practitioners became available. The government allocated 20,000 yuan [$2,416 USD] to force each practitioner to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa." The labour camp spent eight million yuan [$966,561 USD] worth of government funding to construct residential buildings and encourages the guards to persecute these practitioners. Right now, the labour camp is "buying" Falun Gong practitioners from other places for 800 yuan each to use as slave labourers, to increase the volume of products for the labour camp.

On February 7, 2004, after two months of imprisonment, Zhao Xudong died from persecution in the Dashaping Rehabilitation Hospital. On February 8, the Lanzhou City Public Security Bureau and the Police Division of Lanzhou City Chemical Industry Company informed Mr. Zhao's family members that he had died from a lack of oxygen to the brain . Zhao Xudong's father discovered blood in his nose, but was too anguished at that time to pay attention to this detail.

They stuffed human faeces into her mouth. However, despite the torture, Sun Yuhua was always determined. One day Sun Lijie and others beat Sun Yuhua so badly that she passed out. When they carried her to the prison hospital the next morning, she was already dead. Even so, they still kicked her, claiming she was faking death. In no more than one month, Sun Yuhua was beaten to death.

Ms. Sun Yuhua, 48-years-old, was a Dafa practitioner from Hulan County, Heilongjiang Province. She was tortured to death on March 8, 2004. Her husband was sentenced to prison for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, and her 18-year-old daughter was also sent to a labour camp. The whole family suffered because they adhered to the principles of Truthfulness - Compassion - Tolerance.

We were escorted to the Department of Dispatch for Forced Labour Personnel in Beijing near the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Daxing District. Several days later, we were asked to do the work of hand-wrapping disposable chopsticks. Although the packaging was labelled "sanitary" it was not sanitary at all. All the inmates including those who had hepatitis and sexually transmitted diseases had to do this job. We were not asked or allowed to wash our hands before working. In a room crowded with about 40 people, the chopsticks were piled all over the floor and on the beds. The room was filled with sawdust. The sanitary conditions in the Department of Dispatch were extremely poor. Because of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin's regime, the Huangzhou police detained Zheng Zhong in the detention centre five times in succession....The police and "610 Office" personnel monitored and followed Zheng Zhong's two sons for a long time. They also tapped their phone, and harrassed and threatened his daughter-in-law and her parents. Due to the hardship of being away from home for a long time, Falun Gong practitioner Zheng Zhong died on March 9, 2004.

In 2002, four Falun Gong practitioners from Shandong Province successfully transmitted cable television broadcasts that clarified the facts about Falun Gong to different areas in Weihai City, Shandong Province. Lu Guiling, one of the four practitioners, was sentenced to 19 years in prison. She began her prison term on January 23, 2003. Since she was first detained more than one year ago, after experiencing repeated persecution and staging a long-term hunger strike to protest her illegal detention, her weight has dropped from about 143 lbs to only 68 lbs.

The authorities in Masanjia Female Prison, Liaoning Province, have been carrying out horrendous persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners. The police there have claimed, "We can make it so Falun Gong practitioners will find nowhere to appeal, and nowhere to redress injustice. We can even make a healthy person go insane. We'll kill you for no reason and your family members won't even be able to find your bodies."

In the evening of January 24, 2002, Cao Yali was forcibly taken from her home by a dozen local policemen. She was blindfolded and detained in a secret interrogation room in Changchun City, where she was tortured over a 24-hour period with various brutal methods, including savage beatings to her head with an iron bucket, sitting on the "Tiger Bench", electric shocks, sleep-deprivation, and having cold-water poured over her lightly-clad body in minus 20 degrees outdoor temperatures.

On March 1, 2000, he was unjustly detained in the village police station, and on March 4, he was transferred to the county detention centre. While in detention, he was brutally tortured. The inmates even forced this 50-year old man to imitate a frog jumping on the ground. When he failed to jump high enough, they beat him. The police witnessed this, and just turned a deaf ear. In the end, Mr. Zhang was tortured to the point of being unrecognizable.

This illegal TBEA workplace is poorly set up and thus the detainees are continuously exposed to dust and other pollutants. They produce the parts for the final products, but do not often have the tools or know-how to do it well. Thus the products would not pass quality control in a normal workplace, especially since the raw materials used are scraps and waste materials from TBEA. It is hard to imagine what kind of trouble products assembled under such conditions will bring the buyer. However, TBEA does not care about the suffering of the detainees, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, and the inferior quality of the products, they only wish to continue to increase production to receive more and larger orders and make big profits.

When I was in the 4th Division of the Gaoyang Labour Camp, I was forced into slave labour. Each day we got up before sunrise. Thirty people were responsible for 800 mu (130 acres) of cornfields. The guards carried sticks. If we slowed down in our work even a little bit, we would be struck by a large stick. We harvested the corn by hand. The work was so gruelling that our hands bled. Due to the suffering from the effects of the long-term persecution, my body became very weak, yet I still had to endure highly intensive physical labour. I lost more than 65 lbs. in three months. They did not allow us to take a rest at all. There are no human rights or laws here.

Ms. Xie Caile, in her 30s, was from Xindu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. She was unlawfully sentenced to five years in prison in June 2003. Ms. Xie held a hunger strike at Chengdu City Detention Centre and was force-fed. One month later, although she could no longer be force-fed, the guards refused to release her. She passed away in October 2003.

Dafa practitioner Chen Si is only 13 years old. Her family all live their lives according to the principles of Truthfulness - Compassion - Tolerance, yet because of this her family has been torn apart - Mother in a forced labour camp, Father in a brainwashing centre. Despite the trauma of the separation Chen Si has the courage to remain firm in her belief and to tell people how the authorities brutally mistreat practitioners. This young girl has now sadly also been a victim of the authorities' terrible abuse and has been barred from going to school.

Wang Hongbin's family of three suffered continuous persecution. Their house was ransacked and property confiscated five times, and the couple was arrested six times. First, Wang's family life was shattered, then they were forced to become homeless, travelling from place to place to avoid persecution, and finally the family was totally ruined. Wang Hongbin was arrested, beaten up, tortured and sentenced to forced labour. On October 9th, 2003 he died at the age of 39 because of the torture he suffered. He left a wife and a 13-year-old son behind, who are in dire financial straits.

Zhao said they had the word from the higher authorities: "Death of Falun Gong practitioners from beating is nothing and shall be counted as suicide." We were not allowed to eat on a regular schedule, and only had 10 minutes for each meal. We had to eat in a squatting or kneeling position. At one point they fed us for many days in a row with small potatoes that were bitter and tart, causing us to throw up right after we ate.

During detention there, the police handcuffed them and paraded them in the streets in the rain to humiliate them. The police forced these practitioners to kneel on the ground at each place they went. If the practitioners refused to kneel, the police would kick them to the ground. In the evening, the police handcuffed Ms. Duan Qingfang outdoors in the rain. The torture lasted about a week before they were released.

On January 16, 2003, the police guards brought us returned chopsticks that needed to be repacked. Once we opened the gunnysack, a foul odour came out of it, which made it hard for us to breathe. Those chopsticks had been packed, but due to the dirty and humid environment, they had become mildewed before they were shipped. Peeling off the moldy packaging made the conditions in the cell worse, as there were no sanitary equipment or procedures. Many people were allergic to it, with symptoms of a rash on their face and body that was too itchy not to scratch, but they could not stop working.

Meanwhile, they said that they were unable to resuscitate Song Youchun after a sudden heart attack and stuck to their story that it was a natural death. They strictly blocked the news to the public. When we asked, "Why did you inform family members of the death at 8:30 a.m. on the 16th when Song Youchun died at 6:40 p.m. on the 15th? What did all the people in charge do during these 13 hours? Why didn't the detention centre notify the family members and the local government in time to arrange medical treatment with family attendance in there, and medical treatment outside the detention centre when Song Youchun was critically ill?

A female Falun Gong practitioner who survived life in Masanjia said, "In Masanjia, the most evil part is not the physical torture or humiliation -- people can easily tell that those are evil. The persecutors do not always use such overt tactics because they are also afraid (of being exposed, etc.), so they wait for the right time to do even worse things." "The most evil part is they use both persuasion and threats to destroy practitioners' minds and spirit.

After holding hunger strikes some Falun Gong practitioners were sent to the Shenxin Prison to be force-fed. At the end of 2002, a Falun Gong practitioner named Ms. Jing Cai, 31, was brought there from the Shenyang City Detention Center to be force-fed. She almost died because the tube was pushed down her trachea and stopped her breathing causing her to almost suffocate to death.

The police utterly disregard laws when mistreating Falun Gong practitioners. Patrol chief Wang Yali and the head of the No. 8 prison area Zheng Jie declared publicly, "We are the law! We are the wicked police, and we are lawless!" The brigade leader Zhang Xiuli said, "This is a place where facts are distorted, and police officers can beat people." Then she said, "Who will know if nobody sees it?"...The brigade leader Zhang Chunhua told the criminals, "If you torture anyone to death, it will be regarded merely as a natural death."

Jilin Prison houses criminals with heavy sentences. The inmates there are mostly criminals charged with serious crimes, such as murder, arson, and robbery, etc. Their sentences generally range from 10 or more years to life imprisonment, even including death sentences. During the several years of persecution of innocent Falun Dafa practitioners, many male practitioners in Jilin Province were illegally sentenced and sent to Jilin Prison; their terms of imprisonment range from three to twenty years.

Zhang Huaping was a teacher in the college library....In November 2001, Nanhu police ransacked his home and harassed him again. In February 2002, they detained him for one month at the Nanhu Police Station. In 2002, some people on the Hubei Industrial College Committee changed Mr. Zhang's 2001 performance evaluation from "qualified" (which had been the assessment of the staff as well as the head of the library) to "unqualified." Consequently, his salary was suspended for one month and he was ineligible to apply for a technical post title for three years.

On March 4th, 2004, a teacher who was deceived by the propaganda about Faun Gong reported her to the school board for clarifying the truth of Falun Gong to her classmates. As a result, Li Xinxin was dismissed from school. Her father Li Bailong did not understand why the school made such a decision. "My child told her classmates about Truthfulness-Benevolence-Tolerance. What is wrong with that?" Li Xinxin is currently barred from going to school.

This hurt Wang Zhe and his family badly. Wang Zhe's father had a relapse of his heart condition. Wang Zhe's grandmother came from Shenyang despite a big snowstorm, and his grandfather, uncle and aunt were all extremely worried. All the students, their parents, and teachers have been talking about this matter and condemned the school leaders for making the wrong decision that hurt Wang Zhe and his family.

Female practitioners are forced to perform excessive physical labour. We were forced to unload trucks full of bagged materials weighing over 100 pounds each. We had to carry the bags on our shoulders from the truck to our cells. Other physical labours included digging pits, planting trees, and transporting fertilizers. The police exploited our labour to create illegal income for themselves. The dispatch centre did not compensate us for any of our work.

Chen Nianqiang is now the party secretary of Guangdong Industry College. Since July 20, 1999, he has closely followed the Jiang Zemin regime in slandering and attacking Falun Dafa in staff meetings, and in playing a role to brainwash Falun Dafa practitioners. In particular, the party secretary of the Navigation College at the university, Zhong Pan, had forced 11 students in his college who were Falun Dafa practitioners to go through brainwashing so that he could gain political capital.

Jiang Quande's arm was broken by the police, and he was sentenced to 11 years. He is still has not recovered from his injuries. Before this, he was once persecuted at a labour camp in Changchun City. Because he refused to renounce Falun Gong, his term was extended. After his extended term expired, the authorities sent him to Fenjin Labour Camp, where he, along with other 35 practitioners firmly resisted and refused to give in no matter what kind of cruel persecution was forced upon them.

Guo Maoquan, 54, became very healthy after he learned the practice of Falun Gong. His fellow villagers all knew that he was a kindhearted person. After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Guo Maoquan was arrested many times for persisting in practising Falun Gong. In December 2000, Guo was planning on going to Beijing to appeal, when he was reported to the police. Kanjiang Police Station police deceived him into coming out of his home, then stuffed his mouth with towels and beat him savagely.

Mr. Xiao Pifeng and his wife Li Guangying were both Falun Gong practitioners. After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, the couple went to Beijing many times to appeal for Falun Gong. Both of them were brutally persecuted by the local government. The authorities beat Xiao, hung him up, forced him to stand on the ice barefoot in the freezing winter, and stabbed him with a sharpened awl. Despite the torture, Xiao never gave in.

While Sanshui policemen persecuted Wang Shubin without a shred of conscience, they extorted money from his family, by threatening to kill their son....But his body was abused so badly and had lost its regular shape. His weight decreased by more than 35 kilograms [77 lbs]. After the perpetrators had used up all means to torture Wang Shubin, they finally released him home when he was on the verge of death. The authorities assigned local "610 Office" personnel to continue to monitor him.

Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, also called the "Ideology Education School of Liaoning Province," is located in a suburb of Shenyang City, and is known worldwide for its forced-brainwashing techniques. Over the past four years and seven months, from July 1999 to February 2004, at least 99 practitioners were murdered there because of their belief in the universal principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." Their ages ranged from 27 to 65 and majority of them were only between 31 and 39 years old.

The Labour Camp administration refused to give him medical treatment, and let him rest only seven days, after which he was forced to resume his normal labour. He was not released until after his term had been extended an additional eight months. This long period of forced labour is what ruined his health...His physical body was severely damaged, as well as intense psychological stress, neither of which he could recover from upon returning home, finally leading to his death on October 25, 2003.

Since July 1999, the director and officers of the Tangu Police Station have acted without conscience to persecute Falun Gong practitioners for personal gain. Their methods of torture include burning practitioners' faces with cigarette lighters, binding them, and hanging them up. They also enforce "guilt by association." For example, practitioner Li Xixiu from Tangu Village went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result, the police had a family member of Li Xixiu's suspended from his job for more than six months.

Liu Shijie, of Gaoxin district police sub-bureau, Mianyang City, is an insidious and cruel person of about 50 years old....As soon as the persecution started, Liu Shijie immediately made arrangements to collect the names of Falun Gong practitioners, and forced them to be fingerprinted and photographed. He...instigated hatred in people who did not know the truth about Falun Gong, fabricated crimes to frame Falun Gong practitioners, and unjustly detained them.

US citizen and Falun Gong practitioner Charles Lee, who is being detained at Nanjing City Prison was recently forced into slave labour in addition to attending brainwashing sessions. According to Charles Lee's fiancée, Fu Yeong-ching, who is currently living in California, as early as December 2003, Charles was forced to do slave labor making shoes. He had told a US consular official in Shanghai that the glue used in shoe production smelled terrible and made him feel sick.

Prior to 2001, it was police officers that were directly involved in persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. However, every time they harmed the practitioners they would ache all over and some would have the symptoms of a serious flu. Now, the regular criminal inmates are used to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. The criminals experience the same flu-like symptoms as the policemen. One criminal named Gao Peiling was unable to get up after beating some Falun Dafa practitioners. Another criminal, Wang Minfen, cried and told the practitioners, "We don't want to beat you, but we have to do it, otherwise the division leader will extend our prison terms." The police in the Dalian Forced Labour Camp have not only committed crimes themselves, but also have made others commit crimes.

After she was released from the metal chair, Ms. Guo lost consciousness and could not stand. She was examined at the Ankang Hospital in Tangshan and her lower-back was found to be dislocated...Guo Xiaohui was illegally detained for over one year in the No. 1 Forced Labour Camp. When the higher authorities came to check for overtime detentions, the labour camp would hide her or transfer her somewhere else, and send her back after the inspectors had left.

Practitioners Ms. Zhao Huanzhen of Shanhaiguan and Ms. Yang Yuzhu of Qinhuangdao had to have limbs amputated due to this cruel torture. Many Falun Gong practitioners in Qinlong County have also lost their lives as a result. Among those who have died as a result of this senseless persecution are Mr. Hu Hexiang and Mr. Song Youchun. Practitioners in Shanhaiguan that have also lost their lives include Ms. Pi Jinghui of the Shanhaiguan Bulb Company and 45-year-old Ms. Hou Guimin of the Shanhaiguan dockyard.

The inmates beat Zhang Guoqing almost everyday, from October 2003 to January 2004. The practitioners told the guards and division head Liu about this, but they were ignored...Zhang Guoqing was severely beaten on January 19, 2004 and suffered internal injuries. The guards sent him to the Jianxin Hospital in Fuzhou City. The callous doctors didn't take his injuries seriously and sent him back the same day.

This retired lady, who had been commended as a model worker in her workplace, was senselessly and brutally tortured until death. How can being a good person be a crime? How can believing in Truthfulness - Compassion - Tolerance condemn a person to death? Its is tragic that she, like 900 other practitioners have lost their lives due to peacefully following their beliefs.

Because she firmly persisted in practising Falun Gong, she was illegally arrested and sent to Wanjia Labour Camp to be tortured. At about 7:00 p.m. on February 27, 2004, she suddenly died in the labour camp. The heartless camp authorities did not inform her family of her situation until she passed away. Her husband has also been unjustly incarcerated and is being held at Changlinzi Labour Camp.

Liu Yan's business could not run normally because he had been unjustly detained for a long period of time and it was forced to close. His death caused severe grief for his mother. She later became very ill and handicapped. Liu Yan is survived by his child and wife, who are faced with great difficulties and sorrow due to his death.

Many detainees at Division One of Changji Labour Camp in Xinjiang Province are routinely denied sleep several weeks out of the month. They work an average of more than 20 hours a day. They can only take a short nap after dawn on the platform where they make the sweaters. When they work on the machines, they often have to work for one day and one night at a time. Most of them have swollen legs from malnutrition and exhausting labour conditions. The workshop is only 200 meters (about 850 feet) from the cafeteria, but most detainees do not have time to eat breakfast.
