To make a pair of artificial eyelashes, one needs to use tweezers to pick up more than 300 strands of hair and adhere them on the adhesive tape along the template. One earns 27 cents1 for each pair. Then the product has to go through several procedures including cutting, braising and shape-finalization to finish. A pair of finished false eyelashes costs 35 cents. This work places great strain on the worker's eyes. On average, a person has to make 20 to 30 pairs a day.

I did not know where the elderly lady and her daughter had been sent. I only learned later, from another practitioner, that the elderly lady had been taken away with nothing to eat and drink. On the way she was very hungry, but no one took care of her. She was later tortured to death near Tai'an. Her sons and daughter had been taken to jail.

Tang's family were shocked and asked the police how she could have died in such a terrible way. The police faltered, "She committed suicide." In order to uphold justice, her family hired an lawyer. However, the police threatened the lawyer, saying, "The Party has been cracking down on Falun Gong these several years. How dare you come to the labour camp and defend Falun Gong!" Under pressure, he did not say anything.

Two days after he began eating the buns, Mr. Shang started to feel dizzy, so he stopped eating on day three. But it was too late; he had already been poisoned. His cheeks turned a greenish color. Other practitioners who were more severely poisoned had dark finger nails. To check the practitioners' condition, police drew their blood to do a lab test. In order to dodge responsibility, when they saw anyone in serious condition, the police would drive that person to a deserted Beijing suburb. They would force the near unconscious practitioner to jump out of the car.

On November 10, 2002, Dafa practitioner Song Xuwent to visit a friend who was recovering from a hospital stay. On his way a policemen grabbed him by the hair, twisted his arms and took him to the Zhengzhou police station by force where the policemen deprived him of sleep for three days and nights. As soon as he dozed off they hit him. They put him in handcuffs and shackles and dragged him along the cement floor by the shackles. His palms were lacerated from the abrasion and became infected.

Mr. Tang Jianping was detained in the Weiyuan Detention Centre several times, where police caused him to become unconscious from beating and torture and deprived him of sleep for ten days and nights. After being transferred to a labour camp, his internal injuries became worse. He experienced swelling of the chest and abdomen, difficulty ingesting food and water, vomiting blood, and blood in his urine. Released in early 2002, his health became worse and worse. He died after vomiting a large amount of blood on August 28th, 2002.

"Medical parole" from Dabei Prison Administration Bureau is, in fact, the excuse that the prison has used to extort money from Falun Gong practitioners' family members when the detained practitioners, during the persecution, lost significant body weight and were on the verge of death. They were threatened that if they did not cooperate, they would recall the Falun Gong practitioners and send the family members to prison.

In the beginning of February 2004, most public roads were covered by heavy snow in many villages of Qingshan County and travel by vehicle was treacherous. In order to bring convenience to everyone, Falun Gong practitioners in Nianyu Village, Qingshan County overcame the cold weather and shovelled the snow from public roads. After digging out a police vehicle, however, at least 16 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. The reason was that they were Falun Gong practitioners and they did good deeds in public; therefore their homes were searched and they were arrested.

In April 2002, Luo Gan issued orders to the political and judiciary departments of Heilongjiang, ordering the arrest of 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners to be carried out within a period of three months. The police were told, "Don't bother with those that committed crimes, such as murder, arson or any other criminal offence." Practitioners released on medical parole, practitioners released after going on hunger strike, practitioners who refused to write pledges or who once went to Beijing to appeal again became the targets of arrest.

Jiang's family had attempted to visit her many times while she was detained, but was turned away each time by the detention centre authorities. Her family had not seen her since the day she had been taken from her home against her will, and thus had no knowledge whatsoever of her situation in the detention centre, let alone the fact that she was conducting a hunger strike or that she had been hospitalized. Her medical bills, plus the transportation and the funeral expenses, exceeded 14 thousand yuan.

Li Xiaodong was sent to the psychiatric hospital three times and, finally bowing to political pressure, the hospital accepted him. After being detained in the hospital, Li Xiaodong was to be subjected to injections with psychotropic drugs, but he firmly resisted. The hospital officials therefore proceeded to administer electric shock treatments (known as ECT) to immobilize him and then injected him with drugs against his will. During that period, the hospital required two daily escorts from his work.

My family came to visit. Upon seeing me, they were all shocked. I had been very healthy and in good condition when I was taken from home. But now I was tortured and my health debilitated to such a degree. My family went to see the leaders. They met the chief He Qiang and requested that I receive medical treatment. But the camp authorities refused to release me. My family then went to the prosecutor residing in the labour camp. I told him the fact that I was handcuffed and forced to lay flat on my back for a month.

In 2001, police placed a picture of Falun Gong's founder on the ground at the entrance to Longshan Prison, prior to the arrival of families. The police do not allow family members to enter without stepping on the picture first. This policy continues today. The director of the management section, Jiang Yubo, said to the visiting families, "When you step on the picture, you must step on the head! You will do it again if you fail! If you still can't do it, you are not allowed to enter!"

Dafa Practitioner Jing Fengyun, in her 40's, was an employee at Siping City's No.1 People's Hospital. She was arrested and sent to a detention centre during the Chinese New Year Holiday in 2002. She once held hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and was tortured to death within a week. This is yet another tragic death of an innocent person who only wanted to live her life according to the principles of Truthfulness - Compassion - Tolerance.

They forced her to sell her job seniority right [state-owned enterprises compensate a dismissed employee an amount based on his/her length of employment. The dismissed employee will not receive any welfare or benefit]. She not only had to take care of a paralyzed husband and a young daughter, but also had to face cruel persecution. Her life was filled with hardship, as she had to deal with the loss of her personal freedom as well as being constantly monitored.

When the Public Security Bureau once again came to my home to arrest me, even the old gatekeeper said, "What did she do? She did not even go out. Why did you take her away?" But they detained me at Anlu City Detention Centre. I protested vehemently against the persecution that I had suffered during the past few years. On March 4, I was sent home. But the director of the local 610 Office announced that if they catch me again, I would have to serve a prison term and that it did not matter if I died.

While in detention, he suffered inhumane torture. He was forced to do long-term intense physical labour, such as carrying heavy rocks. He used to be a strong, healthy man, yet he was reduced to just skin and bones... Despite all the torture, Chen Hanchang was still determined in cultivation. He was then transferred to an out-of-town place where he continued to be tortured. When he was finally released at the end of November 2003, he was in a coma and could not speak.

One of the inmates forced her to the ground, while another gave her a hard kick and cursed at her. That night, Qi Fengqin began to cough, spitting out blood and pus. It was quite a while before other Dafa practitioners were able to reach and inform a guard about her situation. A practitioner told the guard, "The force feeding tube has damaged Qi Fengqin's oesophagus and stomach. We need to send her to a hospital." But the guard just ignored the practitioner.

I started practising Falun Gong in 1997, after which all my illnesses miraculously went away. When the persecution started, I clarified the truth to others about Falun Gong, and was arrested and illegally sentenced to two years in a forced labour camp. I was imprisoned at Nanmusi Women's Labour Camp in Zhizhong. The following is my personal testimony of the brutalities I witnessed in the labour camp as well as my own personal experiences.

For more than four years now, Liu Guansheng has served Jiang's regime in persecuting kind and innocent Falun Gong practitioners in Shanhaiguan, and he detained many Qinhangdao City practitioners in his Shanhaiguan Detention Centre. According to incomplete statistics only accounting for the Shanhaiguan District, Qinhangdao City, between 170 and 180 practitioners were illegally detained, brutally tortured and interrogated under torture as a result of his direct and indirect instructions.

Because he insists on living according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and because he clarified the truth to the public, Mr. Wang Weiping has been detained on four occasions by the "610 Office." He was most recently detained after mid-August, 2002, when he was involved in broadcasting truth-clarification programming on TV. The broadcast was considered a major case by the police, and most practitioners who had participated were arrested.

Zhao Huiju is fifty-two years old and is from the Xigaohuang Village, of Pingdingshan City. Due to repeated torture her physical condition has become very weak, and she was twice rejected admission to the Xinxiang Jail. However, on February 5, Lushan court ordered the Jail to admit her despite her poor health. Three days later, her family members were informed that she was on the brink of death. When her daughter carried the two-month-old baby to visit her and saw her tortured beyond recognition, she burst into tears. Zhao's eighty-year-old mother also cried sadly. Currently Zhao Huiju could die at anytime.

"...The two police grinned fiendishly and said, "Why do you practise Falun Gong? It's better to kill, to commit arson and to rape a woman than to practise Falun Gong." They lit a cigarette and put it under my nose until my head was engulfed in smoke. Tears gushed from my eyes and I couldn't breathe." [Note: Falun Gong practitioners do not drink alcohol or smoke. Police often try to force-feed practitioners alcohol or force cigarettes on them as means to degrade them and as a method of torture].

In February 2003, the "610 Office" of Chengdu City and Chongzhou City in Sichuan Province arrested Falun Gong practitioners who were caught handing out Dafa truth-clarification materials in Chongzhou City. In the detention centre, arrested practitioner Ms. Huang Ying refused to comply with orders from a guard. The guard put a few electric wires together, and beat Ms. Huang with the wires and with a metal club, and kicked her. Huang Ying's face became swollen and she had many injuries over her whole body.

Over 50 year old, Ms. Zhu Yinfang was sent to the 7th Middle Team in Zizhong City Women's Labour Camp on April 25, 2003. The guards then ordered inmates detained for drug abuse to tape her , and bind her hands and feet with handcuffs and shackles. The following day, police guards commanded over 20 prisoners under custody to torture this Falun Dafa practitioner from Chengdu City to death. The jail terms of those who beat the practitioner to death was extended for only half a day, while the jail terms of those who didn't participate was extended more.

In late 1999, Falun Dafa practitioner Ma Xinxing from Shanghai was detained in a mental hospital for three months. The police and doctors claimed that practitioners detained in the hospital were suffering from psychosis. They also attempted to have practitioners give up their belief, threatening to turn the practitioners crazy. One of the tactics they used was to force practitioners to take harmful drugs. If practitioners refused to take the drugs, the police and doctors oftentimes resorted to force-feeding.

In October 2003, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Xue closed his eyes during a brainwashing session. He was accused of meditating. Another practitioner objected. Both were then taken down to the basement and shocked with electric batons. Everyone on the second floor could hear Zhang Yuqi's shout of "Falun Dafa is good," which was loud and clear. Later, everyone could see the red blotches and blisters all over his neck and his facial expression was one of extreme pain.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Guangxian's son, Hu Dali, also a Falun Dafa practitioner, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was tortured in Lannigou Detention Centre, leaving both legs disabled. While her son was tortured in prison, she faced ongoing harassment and threats at home. After being subjected to repeated harassment and intimidation to the limits of her endurance, she passed away on the evening of February 22nd, 2004, at the Xiuwen County Chinese Medicine Hospital.

The Hanzhong City Detention Centre, operated by the "610 Office", used criminals like drug addicts, drug dealers, prostitutes, and thieves to brutally torture Dafa practitioners....Finally when they saw that she was dying, they then informed the family and forced them pay a 1,000-Yuan fine to bail her out. It was July 19 when they finally released Yu Xiuqin, who had been tortured so severely that her face was distorted, her body was black and blue all over with countless scars and fractured ribs.

About six months ago, authorities at the Jiamusi Labour Camp entered into a contract with a private firm to produce mobile phone cases. The raw materials used for the mobile phone cases are substandard and contain toxic substances far exceeding the permissible limits, and are carcinogenic. The police and guards who supervise the work are even afraid to stay in the workshop. However, Falun Gong practitioners are forced to remain in the workshop to make the phone cases.

As a matter of fact, "release on bail for medical treatment" is not what it appears. The so-called "release on bail for medical treatment" is in reality extortion from family members of practitioners who have been tortured to near death to pay large sums of money as "medical expenses" in exchange for the practitioners' release. If the family members cannot pay the required sums of money, there is no way for them to see their loved ones.

In 2001, Falun Dafa practitioner Li Zhongmin was arrested by the Dalian Development District Public Security Bureau. He was then severely tortured by policemen. When Li Zhongmin escaped, his hands were still handcuffed, and they deeply cut into his wrists. He had cuts and bruises all over his body, and the wound in his forehead vibrated when he breathed. It was too appalling to watch. Li Zhongmin was tortured to death in Dabei Prison on March 4, 2003.

Li Songtao, a 31-year-old male, is the deputy head of the Second Brigade (Special Team set up to persecute Falun Gong practitioners) of Jinzhou City Forced Labour Camp. He threatened, deceived and physically tortured practitioners. Li is the direct murderer of practitioner Xiao Peng. He is also responsible for the death of practitioner Shi Zhongyan.

Longshan Labour Camp received its first order for the wax-processing job in mid July 2001. Elderly and weak Falun Gong practitioners were forced to make plastic packing boxes for the candles in their monitored rooms. The majority of practitioners were taken to a big hall near the entrance of the labour camp to process and to pack the candles.

On July 25, 2003, Ms. Liang Changying was sentenced to five and a half years of prison by Youjiang District People's Court at Baise City. The reason for her imprisonment was an article she had written entitled "The persecution of Dafa practitioners at Guangxi First Labour Camp and Guangxi Women's Labour Camp" that was published on Minghui Net [a Chinese Dafa website]. She also provided and distributed DVDs containing accounts of the persecution against Dafa and the practitioners.

When a teacher asked, "Who practises Falun gong?" Twelve year old Qian replied, "I do." The teacher asked, "Don't you know our country doesn't allow practising Falun Gong?" Qian told the teacher, "I would have died if I hadn't practised Falun Gong." The teacher sent her directly to the principal's office, where the principal scolded her. He would not allow Qian to attend school unless she gave up the practice.

On December 2 Meng Xiao came to the understanding that since Dafa practitioners were good and innocent people, they should not be forced by the prison to do slave labour for 13-14 and even 15-16 hours a day, and this was also in violation of the legal labour time requirement by prison law. She therefore refused to work....For almost one month, the guards didn't allow inmates to approach her or talk to her, and gave her nothing but a meagre portion of rice and salted vegetable.

It is well known that China has just joined in the WTO. Jiang Zemin's regime has promised the whole world they would crack down on pirated publications in China in order to safeguard the publishing business. However within the Tuanhe Labour Camp, which is part of the Chinese legal system, policemen were forcing detainees to bind illegal "Harry Potter" books series. The detainees were asked to fold, sort, and bind the sheets. Then the finished books were transported elsewhere for publication.

There was another female practitioner who refused the injection of unknown drugs. The police then shackled all four of her limbs to a bed. She bit at the needle and wouldn't let go. The police then tried hard to open her mouth, but they failed. Later the police used handcuffs to pry open her teeth, causing three of her teeth to break. She had blood all over her mouth.

Education section officer Gao also remarked that the most powerful person in the world is neither the UN Secretary or the U.S. President, but instead Jiang Zemin, since the presidents of other nations need to seek approval from several departments before proceeding to do what they intend. Also, they are responsible for whatever wrongdoing they commit, even after they leave office. Gao continued, Jiang Zemin's power is above the law of the entire nation, and whatever he says goes. Nobody in the world can compare with the power he has.

Zhang questioned him, "Who gave you permission to ransack my home?" Li Yaoguo said, "Go ask those above. They told us to come here." After that, they ransacked practitioner Mr. Wang Youzhong's home. Wang's wife asked Li Yaoguo, "Do you have a search warrant?" Li Yaoguo threatened, "I'll break down your doors and windows this time."....As it turned out, a passer-by saw it and shouted, "How can you torture her like that? Are you still human?"

Pit-entrance worker Wang Youcai had to work every day but only got three Yuan in salary... He was again arrested by the Fushun City Police Department in April 2003, and after being brutally tortured there, he was sent to the Dashagou Detention Centre in Qingyuan County. After that, he was sentenced to three years in prison and is now detained in the Benxi Prison. His wife suffered a stroke and could not take care of herself, and neither did anybody else take care of her.

Upon returning home, Mr. Shang could not eat anything. He had chest pains and he was always short of breath. For more than ten days, he could only sit because he was unable to lie down due to the severe pain. His health condition deteriorated daily. He was sent to the Laigang Plant General Hospital for treatment, and doctors there drew out two bottles of pus from his chest. They tried their best, but they failed to save his life. On January 31, 2001, Mr. Shang Qingling died in hospital.

After Wang Xiaoli died, they spread a rumour that she "committed suicide" in order to cover up the truth. However, the truth that Wang Xiaoli died as a result of the persecution quickly spread to the neighbourhood around her home. Chen Guolei, the director of Luoyang Street Police Station and Xu Zhaozhen, the director of Luoyang Street Resident's committee are very frightened. In an attempt to shift the responsibility, they told Wang Xiaoli's husband that her death had nothing to do with them.

Wang Quanfeng, 39 years old, was formerly a "610 Office" official at the Fangzi District Police Department. He has since been transferred to another post. Since July 1999, he had been following Jiang Zemin together with the former District Chief Huang Weilian to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners with all sorts of methods. During this period of over 4 years, Wang abducted and persecuted countless Dafa practitioners. The facts listed here are only some of the crimes committed by Wang Quanfeng.

At the Tianjin Banqiao Female Forced Labour Camp, police and detainees torture Dafa practitioners. They claim that, "Any practitioner who dies from hitting or beating will be counted as suicide. TV will announce the news as suicide." In the brainwashing centre, the collaborators help the police treat firm practitioners badly. They let camp police and offenders frantically hit and beat the practitioners who refuse to give up practising Falun Dafa.

24-year-old Anhui Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Sun Xiumei, died as a result of persecution on the morning of February 2, 2000. She was murdered by the authorities in Tanpeng Police Station simply because she would not give up her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance"! The authorities who are directly responsible for this crime are the head of the police station Sun Hongzhi and police officer Chen Yongfu. The details regarding Sun Xiumei's suspicious death is pending further investigation.

On January 25, 2000, I planned to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The local police station arrested me before I could leave and sent me to a psychiatric hospital without my consent. They even lied to my children. They told my children that they were protecting me by sending me to the psychiatric hospital because otherwise I would have been sent to the Northwest Forced Labour Camp. My children were told that I would be released in two weeks and that they could visit me.

The people responsible for directing and committing these crimes are extremely frightened of public exposure and thus used all means to block news from leaking out of the forced labour camp. Falun Gong practitioners were forbidden to have contact with anyone from the outside. They were not allowed to talk to anyone and the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners at the Number Three Forced Labour Camp described here only represents a small portion of the facts that could get past the information blockade.

The Jewellery Association Factory owns 100,000 jewellery machines, which have all been set up in prisons, including the Deyang Prison. Some Chinese-owned enterprises in Thailand have also purchased many machines and have set them up in several prisons in Sichuan to have the jewellery processed. The Hong Kong Lepachu Industrial Co. Ltd and the Guangdong Liren Clothes Co. both use prisoners to make their products, some of which are sold to the United States.
