The Hubei Women's Forced Labour Camp forces practitioners to write "three letters"(letter of breaking from Falun Gong; letter of ceasing practising Falun Gong; and letter of exposing Falun Gong). Policemen use video, newspapers and books that slander Falun Gong to brainwash practitioners. They often use drug addicts to abuse and beat practitioners. This labour camp is extremely strict to Beijing practitioners. Policemen stripped off the clothes of a Beijing practitioner in Team Two, dragged her through several rooms and threw her into an isolated room, forbidding anyone from seeing her. From that room often came sharp cries for help.

In 2008, before the Olympic Games began, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents intensified the persecution of practitioners, claiming that it was in the best interest of the Olympics. The 610 Office in Dagang District arrested more than a dozen practitioners without a warrant, including Ms. Dou Guirong. They were released after several days. The detention shocked Ms. Dou mentally and physically. She developed health problems, which worsened quickly. She passed away on March 2nd, 2009. The death of Ms. Dou presents a great hardship to her family, especially to her elderly mother. Her mother exposed the persecution to people and was arrested on March 20th, 2009.

Mr. Liang Yuncheng was arrested on March 7th, 2009. He is being brutally tortured at the Erlongshan Prison. Officials and guards are trying to brainwash him and threatening him with further imprisonment. Previously Mr. Liang was arrested when distributing leaflets exposing the persecution in 2006 and imprisoned until 2008. When he got home, he learned that his parents had died. Mr. Liang went back to work, but his salary was cut dramatically. Mr. Liang's wife knew her husband to be a very good man. However, placed under tremendous pressure, she divorced him in April 2008.

Ms. Li Guijun is a Falun Gong practitioner in Shandong Province. She was sent to labour camp in mid-October 2008. She now has oedema all over her body as a result of gross abuse and mistreatment at the labour camp. Her hyperthyroidism has also recurred, and she is in pain every day. This is the second time she has been sent to a labour camp. Ms. Li was also previously sent to labour camp for a three-year term for going to Beijing to appeal in 2000. She was sent to the Wangcun Women's Labour Camp

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) controlled court of Shashi District, Jinzhou City, Hubei Province held a trial on the morning of March 18th, 2009, for 29 year old Ms. Song Chang. On the morning of July 17th, 2008, Ms. Song had followed her husband to work in Guangdong Province and was arrested by police from Hubei Province. She was taken back to Shashi District, forced to have an abortion and detained in the Shashi Detention Centre.

Practitioners held at the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp are regularly tortured and forced to carry out extremely large workloads for long periods of time. The guards verbally abuse them and lock them up in small cells, where they are brutally tortured. The guards also steal practitioners' personal property with impunity. On January 31st, 2006, while Ms. Li Jinfeng was held at the No. 2 Section of the forced labour camp, team leader Lan Yuan directed seven drug addict inmates to beat her into unconsciousness. They then poured cold water on her to wake her up.

Falun Gong practitioners held at the Daqing City Prison are not able to enjoy the most basic of human rights. They are cruelly tortured for even the slightest provocation, including not fulfilling the guards' unreasonable demands. Mr. Sun Dianbin, 38, is among those practitioners who was tortured recently. On March 22nd, 2009, Mr. Sun' s mother visited her son. He looked weak so she realized that the guards must have deprived him of food because he refused to wear the prison uniform.

On November 17th, 2008, police broke down the door of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Xixiang's house in Baiyushanzhi Village, Zhucheng City. They arrested her, searched her house, and confiscated her personal property, including a computer and printer. Liu Xixiang was detained at the trading boarding house of Zhucheng City, beaten, forced to sit on the iron chair and was force fed. Group leader Wang Hongbo led more than 10 people to take turns torturing Liu Xixiang. They locked her on the iron chair and deprived her of sleep. Liu Xixiang went on hunger strike to resist this persecution. Seeing that she wouldn't be able to survive much longer, they dragged her to a Chinese medicine hospital to feed her by force.

In September 2000, I was arrested by police and taken to Hewan Forced Labour Camp. They ordered other inmates to cut my hair. I saw other inmates' hair that had been cut; it was a mess. Some Falun Gong practitioners' hair had been cut half and half, where if their heads were viewed from behind, half of their head would have long hair and the other half would show strips of scalp, it was a complete mess. This was done to humiliate practitioners. All the things my family sent to me, including blanket, coats, winter shoes and boots, all of them were soaked in water before they were given to me.

Falun Gong practitioners who were sentenced to Hebei Women's Prison were sent to a brainwashing centre on the first day. They were not allowed to speak with each other, and were forced to watch videos denouncing Falun Gong and sing the songs of the communist party. Practitioners who protested by going on hunger strike were dragged away for forced feeding. Some were intentionally dropped on the ground after being dragged several steps. Then the perpetrators would hang up a plastic bottle with a rubber tube attached, and this would be inserted into the practitioner's stomach. When they pulled the tube out, they pulled it hard and it would always have blood on it.

On November 28th, 2004, Mr. Quan Xueyin was arrested again by the county 610 Office and National Security Division and his home was ransacked by police. He was sentenced to three years in prison. During the interrogation, he was badly beaten and his body was covered with wounds. Near the end of his prison term, a guard extracted blood from him and injected him with an unknown drug. As a result, he had much difficulty breathing and his lungs finally became rotten. On March 8th, 2009, Mr. Quan passed away at the age of 39.

Several days ago I learned that my mother, Zhang Guilan, had been arrested and sent to a detention centre on March 14th, 2009. This is her fourth arrest. My father is currently detained in Jidong Prison in Hebei Province. My sister stays at home alone. I have an 86-year-old grandmother. We haven't told her of my mother's arrest because we are afraid that she might not be able to bear it. And I myself am far away overseas. I am getting anxious and disturbed. As a member of a Falun Gong family, I hereby appeal for all kind hearted people and people with conscience to help rescue my mother so that our family can be reunited. I also appeal for people around the world to step forward with courage and help those that are being persecuted for being kind. They don't deserve that.

An elderly female practitioner from Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province has been sentenced to a 4-year prison term. She is now being held at Harbin Women's Prison. Along with several other practitioners, she was tortured while in the "Intensive Training Camp." Now her life is in grave danger. Her family members are urgently requesting her immediate release. On February 3rd, 2009, Ms. Liu Jingyan's 76-year-old husband was accompanied by their daughter to visit her at the prison. Her daughter burst into tears when she saw that her mother's teeth had all fallen out and she was wasting away.

On August 27th, 2002, practitioners in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province experienced another round of torture at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp. Guards forcibly dragged Ms. Cui to an unknown location and tortured her for not wearing the forced labour camp's uniform. After some time, Ms. Cui stumbled back to her cell, escorted by a male guard. Ms. Cui clasped her neck in pain and her face was all black and blue. She said that guard Sun Qingqiang had beaten and shocked her. Shortly after, Ms. He Miao was dragged out of her cell and forced to sit on an "iron chair". The guards simultaneously beat and shocked her with an electric baton.

Since October 1999, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pan Benyu has been arrested, put into a forced labour camp, and sentenced to prison. All of this happened because he steadfastly practised Falun Gong. He was beaten and tortured in the prison, and in order to avoid near certain harassment and arrest, was forced to leave home after being released. On December 9th, 2006, he was arrested at his parents' home by police, and subsequently imprisoned in Tailai Prison. Due to prolonged persecution, his health became very poor, and his life was in peril. His head was swollen, he had suffered a heart attack, and he also suffered from liver ascites and was unable to take care of himself. The prison, however, still refused to release him for medical care.

On March 3rd, 2008, Ms. Shen Chunfang, 57, was reported to the police because she explained the facts about Falun Gong in public. On March 7th, seven people tricked her into opening her door and took her to the police station. That night the police interrogated Ms. Shen. When she did not cooperate, they took her to the Hubin Detention Centre, attempting to extort a "confession." One police officer beat her three times with a three-inch-thick tree branch and handcuffed her behind her back. Another officer lifted up her handcuffed hands, causing her great pain. She sweated so much from the pain that her clothing was soaked.

Ms. Liang Xiulan is a 43-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. She was arrested again around April 1st, 2009, and we have no current information about her. Police had arrested Ms. Liang several times and tortured her ruthlessly at a brainwashing centre and police station, tortures which included shocking her with electric batons and slapping her in the face. In May 2008, Ms. Liang was distributing informational materials when someone reported her to police. Policeman Pu Yonglai said to her fiercely, "If we kill you, that is counted as suicide, and it has nothing to do with us. If it is exposed on the Internet it is even better, since police officials would know we are working hard." He handcuffed Ms. Liang's hands separately to two chairs, then he and another policeman each took an electric baton and shocked her for a long time, from head to foot.

Mr. Wang Zhiwu is an older Falun Gong practitioner from Handan City, Hebei Province. He has been incarcerated in the Handan Forced Labour Camp since 2005. Mr. Wang was tortured and guards tried to force him to give up his practice. He was handcuffed and forced to stand for days without sleep until his legs were swollen. He was beaten regularly with an electric baton by officers. His skin was burned with cigarettes, and he lost three of his front teeth during the various tortures. Later he was bombarded with brainwashing propaganda and not allowed to sleep. He became completely disoriented and signed a document, promising not to practise Falun Gong. This is how Handan Forced Labour Camp "transforms" practitioners.

On March 6th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu was arrested at her newspaper stall at around 10 a.m. One witness reported that four police officers and two police cars were involved in the arrest. Many materials stored in the stall were taken away. Her current whereabouts are unknown. The reason for Ms. Xu's arrest is unclear, and so far her family has been unable to reach her. We hope that those with knowledge of her whereabouts will help bring this information to light and protect her life.

On July 18th, 2008, police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Daoyou from his home. He was later brought to trial on December 23rd. On March 19th, 2009, three police officers broke into Mr. Guo's home and arrested his wife Ms. Wang Yonghua, and she was taken to the police station. Mr. Guo's two young children no longer have any financial support. They are now trying to survive and continue their education without the help of their parents. The boy and girl went to the police station and asked that their mother be released, with no success.

The Licheng District Court held a session to hear the case of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuying on February 24th, 2009. At the court session, two lawyers boldly defended Ms. Zhang Yuying. The judge suddenly announced a recess for half an hour. They did not announce the verdict of the court and hastily ended the session. On March 18th, the two lawyers went to the court to ask for the verdict about Zhang Yuying's case. They had to wait until the end of the day and then the vice presiding judge questioned one lawyer in an intimidating manner.

On March 30th, 2009, a stranger approached the home of Ms. Liu Honghua, a Falun Gong practitioner, and her son, Zhang Xinming, (not a practitioner) into opening the door. Simultaneously, several plain clothes policemen followed behind. They knocked Liu Honghua's son to the ground. They put him in handcuffs. Two of the plain clothes policemen went back upstairs to search the home and completely ransack it. Zhang Xinming was taken to a "training class". Three people took turns watching him for three hour cycles, keeping him awake the whole night.

Ms. Liu Guangfeng, 52, was sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2004 and brutally tortured. Ms. Liu's abdomen, private areas and thighs were black and blue all over due to the physical abuse. In spite of that, she was still forced to work in the workshop for more than ten hours each day. On February 8th, 2009, Ms. Liu was taken to the Guangshui City First Detention Centre and detained there. On April 2nd, 2009, the authorities of the detention centre suddenly notified her family to pick her up. Her family members found that she could not speak, walk, or eat, and the skin from her neck to her feet and her fingers was all black and blue. She was critically ill when she arrived at home. On April 4th, 2009, she passed away.

I was detained in Sanshui Forced Labour Camp, in Guangdong Province, without due process. I personally experienced the unprecedented persecution and witnessed the brutal torture of practitioners. I was often deprived of sleep at night and always during the day. I had to wait until 11:00 p.m. to sleep. I was forced to sit on a small plastic stool and was closely watched by inmates during the day. The guards harassed, hit, and cursed at me, and I was forced to squat for long periods of time.

In October 2000, the outstanding teacher Song Zhenling and his wife Wang Guijin went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong but were arrested. When the police interrogated Ms. Wang, they forced her to kneel on the floor the entire time and beat, kicked, and slapped her and pulled her hair, yanking out sections of her hair. Her face was swollen from the abuse. The police also tied both of the practitioners' hands behind their backs, then beat and interrogated them until their faces were numb. The next day the police tied up Mr. Song and Ms. Wang's lower bodies. The police head used his leather shoes to slap Mr. Song in the face and after 48 hours of interrogation, he took all the cash that the couple had with them, but did not give them anything to eat.

"I was imprisoned in a forced labour camp for one year. It felt like I was living in hell for a thousand years. They forced us to listen to material framing and slandering Falun Gong. If we didn't listen carefully, we were punished. Falun Gong practitioners were put in the same cell with twenty or so drug addicts, and the guards told them to watch us. If they found out that we did Falun Gong exercises, they severely beat us. It was a routine and we were deprived of sleep, beaten and cursed. When Falun Gong practitioners were screaming in pain, doctors gave them an injection with some kind of anaesthetic drug. They left nothing untried to force us to give up practising Falun Gong. Some suffered mental collapse."

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Yuzhen from Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province went to the countryside to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in February 2009. Police arrested her and took her back to her home that night. They ransacked the house for evidence to persecute her. Ms. Liang's 98-year-old grandmother held her tight and pleaded with the police that she needed her granddaughter to take care of her. The police pried her hands open and forcibly took Ms. Liang away and sent her to Heshan Detention Centre.

On March 5th, 2009, police officers arrested practitioner Mr. Xia Hongmin from Laishui County in Hebei Province. The following day, he was taken to Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp. Mr. Xia is being forced to go through re-education (brainwashing) through forced labour. During a previous detention in a brainwashing centre the guards shouted, "If the Party doesn't want you to practise, you don't practise, otherwise we'd have to beat you." They used clubs and sticks to beat practitioners, and while beating them they kept asking whether they would continue with the practice.

Since February 2009, in order to catch Falun Gong practitioners who had utilized a small loudspeaker exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, the Heilongjiang Public Security Bureau has ordered the police and special agents from the National Security Department in Jiamusi City to persecute local practitioners and their families on a large scale. As a result, about twenty local practitioners have been arrested and their houses ransacked. On February 13th, 2009, just as practitioner Ms. Liu Xiufang was leaving her home to go shopping, a plain clothes police officer came up to her and pushed her back into the house, pinning her against the wall. Later, he also arrested Ms. Liu's husband and took him to the Jiamusi City Police Station.

On March 23rd, 2009, the Heping District Court in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province held a hearing against three Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Gao Shubin, Ms. Gu Chunying and her husband Mr. Guo Jian. The security at the court was very tight. Due to involvement from the local 610 Office, the court only allowed the presence of one family member for each practitioner during the hearing. Many Falun Gong practitioners and their supporters came to the court. Some plain clothes agents closely monitored them outside the courtroom and videotaped everything.

On March 25th, 2009, family members of practitioners Ms. Zhu Yumei and Mr. Wang Kun heard from an acquaintance that Ms. Zhu Yumei and Mr. Wang Kun had been sentenced to eight-year prison terms. The two families went to Acheng Court, demanding to see the court documents. The sentencing document was dated March 19th, which meant that the two practitioners had been sentenced a week prior. The court officer Han Yang, who was in charge of the cases, had deceived the two families. He claimed that he couldn't handle the cases, and that they had been forwarded to the Harbin Intermediate Court. In actuality, the Acheng area 610 Office handled the cases in secrecy in an effort to accelerate the persecution of Ms. Zhu and Mr. Kun.

Although the Chinese Communist Party has no lawful basis for their persecution of Falun Gong, the party director in Qingdao City issued guidelines to all subordinate cities, districts, groups, local offices, and the party directory of Qingdao Armed Police Region, to request them to strengthen their persecution of Falun Gong, thus encouraging people at all levels of government to participate in the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) crimes. The guideline document claimed that it is part of the unified action of central, provincial, and city party directories.

Mr. Liang Yuncheng was arrested on March 7th, 2009. He is being brutally tortured at the Erlongshan Prison. Officials and guards are trying to brainwash him and threatening him with further imprisonment. On January 3rd, 2006, Mr. Liang was arrested when distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and was taken to the Benxi Brainwashing Centre. In order to force him to give up Falun Gong, a dozen people talked to him day and night, so he couldn't sleep for over ten days. They also beat him using police batons. On January 3rd, 2008, Liang was released. On March 7th, 2009, he was arrested again. During the detention, the police brutally tortured him.

Ms. Li Guijun is a Falun Gong practitioner in Linqing City, Shandong Province. She was sent to labour camp in mid-October 2008. She now has oedema all over her body as a result of gross abuse and mistreatment at the labour camp. There are two rotten holes in her feet, making her hurt daily. As already mentioned above, her hyperthyroidism also recurred. Her hyperthyroidism has also recurred, and she is in pain every day. This is the second time she has been sent to a labour camp. Ms. Li's family went several times asking for her release, but have always been refused.

In December 2005, practitioners Han Zhongcui and Niu Wanjiang refused to do hard labour. Guard Qi Ruijun then handcuffed the two of them outside in the freezing cold weather. He also ordered Wei Yichuan to beat them. Han Zhongcui was not given anything to eat until late evening. In 2006, Niu Wanjiang refused to sign statements denouncing Falun Gong. Yang Jian beat him cruelly, fracturing his ribs. Qi Ruijun not only did not punish Yang Jian, but he also handcuffed Niu to a metal rail for half a day. When Niu said it was illegal for guards to beat people, Qi exclaimed in front of other people, "We'll keep beating you guys. Our job is to torture you!"

Mr. Gu Suoxiang, 48, was arrested several times and persecuted by police. On November 28th, 2007, Mr. Gu was at work when he was seized and taken to a brainwashing centre, where he was hung up for 19 days straight, without sleep. Guards even stepped forcefully on his stomach, severely injuring his liver, intestines and other internal organs. On August 2nd, 2008, the police arrested him again using the pretext of safeguarding the Beijing Summer Olympics. By the time he was released, he was bruised and injured all over. The police didn't bother to give him a lift home, so he walked home in his severely weakened condition. Later on he developed diarrhoea and had blood in his stool. He died on March 22nd, 2009 as a result of traumatic injuries to his internal organs.

Disabled practitioner Mr. Chen Jinjing is being held in a detention centre. Around March 18th, 2009, he was taken to the Zhoukou City Centre Hospital for check ups every day for three days. The doctors found that both of his legs were disabled, his blood pressure was unstable, and there were serious problems with his brain, heart, and other organs. If he did not receive immediate medical treatment he would be paralysed very soon, and he might even die. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officers from Zhoukou City and Sha'nan Police Department Domestic Security Division Captain Gao Feng refused to release Mr. Chen.

Information on Shanghai Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shi Jun, who was arrested by the Shanggang Police Station and then disappeared, was first reported on June 14th, 2005, on the Minghui (Chinese version of Clearwisdom) website. Mr. Shi has now been missing for four years. Nobody knows his whereabouts, which has raised many suspicious points about his case. On February 10th, 2005, Mr. Shi said to his family that someone was looking for him and that he needed to go out. He didn't specify where he was going, but it may have been that people with the 610 Office were causing trouble for him. He was afraid that his family would worry, so he didn't tell them where he was going. He never came back.

Mr. Liu Gang, a Falun Gong practitioner, from the 8th Mine of the Coal Corporation of Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, was recently sentenced to 18 years in prison by a court which is manipulated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). His wife, Ms. Zong Yinqin, was sentenced to 8 years. On March 18th, 2009, Mr. Liu was sent to the Zhengzhou Prison in Xinmi City, Henan Province, and his wife was sent to the Henan Women's Prison in Xinxiang City.

Mr. Jiang Xiqing, a 66-year-old practitioner from Chongqing, was tortured to death at the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp, and his family is being continually harassed. State Security police in the Jiangjin District are monitoring his family constantly. The police have said that they would not allow any Falun Gong practitioners to contact his family. They attempted to conceal evidence of their crimes and continue to persecute this family. Mr. Jiang's wife Luo Zehui has been sentenced to eight years in prison and is resisting persecution in the detention centre. Her life is currently in danger.

On March 18th, 2009, some people who identified themselves as police drove to Dancheng Town, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. They were guided by local police officer Chen Fumin, who broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Xuemin and arrested him. Mr. Zhang's daughter-in-law, who suffered from serious deafness, tried to stop the plain clothes police from arresting her father and required that they show their identification, but the two officers reacted rudely toward her. When she resisted the police they used garden spades found in the yard to beat the family. As a result Mr. Zhang's nephew was seriously injured and was sent to a local hospital.

In 2008, the Panjin City Prison authorities tortured Mr. Lu Guanglin until he suffered a mental collapse and could no long take care of himself. The prison authorities did not want to be held responsible for Mr. Lu's condition and so tried to release him. But when the Qingyuan County Politics and Law Enforcement Committee, 610 Office, and the local police department refused to sign the release order, the prison authorities were unable to release him. Mr. Lu continued to be tortured in the prison, and died in February 2009.

Mr. Chen Jia'an is a 69-year-old farmer. On August 4th, 2008, Liu Sitong, a Chinese Communist Party Secretary reported him to the police for explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people. Shortly after, more than a dozen police officers went to Mr. Chen's home to ransack it and arrest him. The officers confiscated his Falun Gong books, informational materials, and other personal items. He was later detained at the Zezhou County Detention Centre. In November 2008, a secret trial was arranged for Mr. Chen by the procurator and the Zezhou County Court. In December 2008, he was sentenced to three years in prison. The family did not know anything about his arrest, trial, or his sentencing until much later.

In 2007, I was sent to the No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp Division 2 in Shandong Province. Upon arriving, several people persecuted me. I did not give up my practice of Falun Gong. Guards then told drug addict inmates to take turns watching me. They deprived me of sleep, access to the toilet, and the use of water. I was forced to stand for a long time (three days and four nights) twice. My legs were severely swollen and I could barely walk. I refused to write words defaming Falun Gong, so the guards gave me a heavy workload.

Ms. Xin Xiaoping was arrested by officers from the National Security Division on October 15th, 2008, while Ms. Xin was on her way to work. The officers accused her of "sabotaging the enforcement of the law by organizing and using an illegal organization" because she practised Falun Gong and aided a practitioner who escaped from a local hospital. After arresting Ms. Xin, the police took her to the Linyi County Detention Centre, where she remains to this day.

After the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Qu Jie, who was close to 60 at the time, was persecuted numerous times. She was first held in the Hegang City Second Detention Centre, where she treated everyone with kindness, including those who abused her. While in detention, her blood pressure shot up to 220-280. The police had to taken her to a hospital, where they continued to pressure her to abandon her belief. She firmly refused. In 2002, she was sentenced to five years in prison. Due to the mistreatment and abuse, Qu Jie suffered a massive brain aneurysm in the summer of 2004 and passed away.

Mr. Liu Qinghua was a cancer patient before he practised Falun Gong. The practice saved his life, and he continued to practise Falun Gong despite the persecution. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) arrested him because he distributed materials that published the facts about Falun Gong and the brutal persecution. He was sentenced to three years in prison and subjected to torture and brainwashing at Panjin Prison. His health deteriorated while in prison due to the abuse he was subjected to. On December 31st, 2008, Panjin Prison released Mr. Liu on medical parole. He died on February 23rd, 2009, at the age of 47.

Practitioner Ms. Zhu Ming from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, is 47 years old. She was arrested by police while she was selling vegetables at a food market. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her family's property. Presently, she is imprisoned in the Yaojia Detention Centre. Zhu Ming's arrest has caused enormous damage to her family. Her 75-year-old mother had a weak heart to begin with, and after witnessing the barbaric actions of police confiscating their belongings, her condition worsened. Every night she is awakened by nightmares of the crimes of the police. She cries to no end.

Mr. Zhou Zhencai; his wife, Ms. Wang Shaoping; and their two sons, Mr. Zhou Xiangdang and Zhou Xiangyang, have practised Falun Gong since 1996. Their whole family has benefited from the practice tremendously. Nonetheless, the Zhou family has been severely persecuted since 1999 for informing people about the true nature of Falun Gong and exposing the persecution to the government. Mr. Zhou and his wife were forced to become homeless to avoid being arrested. From 1999 to 2003, the national security police ransacked their house numerous times and took their valuables. In September 2005, Mr. Zhou was sentenced to the Shuangkou Forced Labour Centre in Tianjin City for two and a half years. His wife was sent to the Banqiao Women's Labour Centre for one and a half years.

On February 27th, 2009, officers from the State Security Department and the local police officers arrested Mr. Jiang Guobo and his wife Mrs. Zhou Ling at their workplaces in Shandong Province. When they arrested Mr. Jiang, the police officers pulled a black sack over his head, tied it at his neck, and then carried him to the car. Mr. Jiang has now been detained at the Changle Detention Centre for more than 20 days. In 2005, Mr. Jiang was arrested and brutally tortured. His arms and legs were cuffed to a cross for more than 20 days. He lost consciousness as a result of the unbearable pain.
