In November 2004 the court sentenced Mr. Xu Langzhou to eight years and six months in prison, based on a forged statement from the 610 Office agents which stated they found Falun Gong leaflets on Mr. Xu. |

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Ma Duo, 26 years old, used to teach at Qianli School in Jiamusi City and is an excellent teacher. In order not to let others be deceived by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) lies, she often informed people about the true nature of Falun Gong and the persecution. She ended up being reported on and was summarily dismissed from Qianli School. In November 2000, Ma Duo went with her mother to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She and her mother unfurled a banner over 2 metres long, reading "Falun Dafa Free Teaching". She was caught by police officers and detained at Jiamusi City Detention Centre. Five months later, in November 2002, he was secretly sentenced to seven years in prison and taken to Xinmi Prison. In the winter of 2002, Mr. Ding's mother visited him in prison. This is the coldest season of the year, and she saw her son wearing only thin clothes. Mr. Ding did not recognize his mother. A well-known and respected teacher, formerly a normal and healthy person, became mentally disordered as a result of persecution, just because he believed in "Truthfulness,Compassion, Forbearance." |

On March 6th, 2002, the police interrogated Ms. Yu Shanmin about the origin of Falun Gong leaflets that were found on the street, but she also did not answer the questions. The police handcuffed one hand to a window frame and the other to a table leg. Then they pulled the table in the opposite direction, almost splitting her apart. The police call this torture "five horses splitting a body." This torture is very brutal. When the handcuffs are pulled in opposite directions, the victim feels tremendous amounts of pain. After a while, the hands swell and the handcuffs dig into the flesh, and sometimes the hands are disabled. Ms. Yu Shanmin cried from pain frequently. When her arms were pulled in a straight line, her legs were laid straight on the floor and the policemen took turns stepping on them with their leather shoes. Agent Zhang used a cigarette to burn Ms. Yu's face and left two black scars on her face. |
|
| Falun Gong Practitioners Unjustly Arrested, Harassed [18.02.2008] |
Seventy-three-year old practitioner Ms. Chen Ling was unable to live a peaceful life. People from the residential committee often interrogated her, "Did you go out today? Did you go to his or her home?" Residential committee Party secretary Ji asked her, "Is Falun Gong good, or is the Chinese Communist Party good?" Ms. Chen Ling was held in a detention centre five years ago, owing to her practising Falun Gong. They handcuffed her, forced her to be photographed and provide her fingerprints. The mental torment she suffered was enormous. Her teeth all fell out and her hair turned white. Four generations in her family were affected. Her husband was frightened so badly that he could not eat anything. Her four-year-old old grandson got sick from fear of the police. Her neighbours said indignantly, "Such a nice lady was arrested and her home raided, just because of practising Falun Gong!" |

| Changsha City Women's Prison in Hunan Province Tortures and Enslaves Falun Gong Practitioners [18.02.2008] |
The prison staff have forced older practitioners over sixty years of age into slave labour. They force practitioners to peel fava beans. Each practitioner is assigned to work on thirty to fifty kilogrammes of fava beans. Their tiny cells are their place of work. There is water everywhere, all over the ground and even on the beds. These practitioners have been living in dark and humid cells for a long time. Because Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Mao Siyuan didn't call out her name to report her arrival, she was forced to work eighteen hours straight. Practitioner Ms. Zhang Lanhui had a blood pressure reading of 220 to 300, and yet the guards still forced her to work. | Numerous Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Beijing, Their Homes Ransacked [18.02.2008] |
On December 25th, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Cai Changhe from the Shengli Residential Quarters in the Shunyi District of Beijing was arrested. On January 25th, 2008, police officers were spread all over the streets of Beijing. They stopped the incoming and outgoing cars and requested all passengers get out and show them their IDs. Their aggressive behaviour caused panic in Beijing. With the 2008 Olympics coming, the Chinese Communist Party still persecutes and arrests Falun Dafa practitioners on a large scale, which really causes social turbulence. Their ugly atrocities violate the spirit of harmony, friendship and unity, which the Olympics promotes. |
|
| Practitioners Enslaved in Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City [18.02.2008] |
Labour camp officials force practitioners to work overtime and give them excessive workloads. Practitioners are forced to get up at 5:30 a.m. and must work from 6:00 a.m. until 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. They get only 15 minutes for lunch and must work their entire shift without a break. Zhang Bo, Chief of the First Division, personally monitors everyone's work. Anyone who does not finish the assigned quota has to take the work back to his or her cell and may not go to sleep until the work is done. Huo Shuping, Chief of the Second Division, often punches and kicks practitioners and abuses them physically. She also forces practitioners to work more than the regular quota. When inmates are tasked with making rice paper bags, she increases the quota in the Second Division from 400 to 450 bags a day. |
|
| The Seventh Division of Yang'ai Prison in Guizhou Province Brutally Persecuted Falun Dafa Practitioners [18.02.2008] |
When I was detained in the Seventh Division of Yang'ai Prison in Guizhou Province, I witnessed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prison police brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The police were inhuman. Falun Gong practitioner Qu Jing used a hunger strike to protest the persecution against her. The police tied her up on the "death bed" for a very long time and force-fed her. The food that spilled onto her during the brutal forced-feeding sessions soaked her shoulder for a long time, causing the skin to fester and become infested with maggots. Prison policeman Tian Weiwei also brutally beat Qu Jing and incited the criminals who were sent to watch Ms. Qu to brutally beat her. |

Even in such a critical condition, guards still cuffed and shackled his wrists and ankles. Mr. Huang was taken home on November 4th. A 44-year-old man who was in good health, was tortured to such a degree within only three months. On November 6th, he died with his mouth and eyes open. |

Ms. Zhou Rong was sent to the No. 4 Team, where the inmates were forced to do very heavy labour. They had to process pig hair all day long. The pig hair was soaked in a caustic solution. After a while the labourers' hands rotted from prolonged contact with this solution. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dai Xiaoping was incarcerated in the Wangcun Women's Forced Labour Camp in the autumn of 2001. That is where I got to know her. As soon as she arrived, she was sent to the most vicious Division No. 5. As she was very steadfast, she was locked up in a solitary cell and made to undergo "reformation" [brainwashing] for long periods of time, which she resisted. The guards became more determined to brainwash her. They locked her up and tortured her more cruelly. They vowed that if they did not succeed, they would never let Ms. Dai go. Ms. Dai Xiaoping's husband was physically abused until he became partially paralysed on one side of his body. He died on June 13th, 2004 as a result of the persecution. |

|
| Psychiatric Hospital Used as a Tool for Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioners [16.02.2008] |
The Jiujiang City Fifth People's Hospital in Jiangxi Province, a psychiatric hospital, detains Falun Gong practitioners in order to persecute them. This kind of illegal detention defies conventional wisdom that psychiatric hospitals offer nurturing care. Ms. Jiang Xiaoying, a practitioner, has had her arms and legs tied, and she has been injected with nerve damaging drugs and other unknown drugs. Psychiatric patients have been instigated into attacking and insulting her, and family visits have been denied for several years. Ms. Jiang has protested against her detention on many occasions. Ke (male, first name unknown), an employee from the hospital's security office, threatened her by saying, "We will send you to forced labour if you protest again." |

Policeman Li Hong personally attacked Lei Zhengxia's stomach, chest and other vital spots of his body until all the internal organs were severely damaged. Lei's stomach had burst from the torture. Police sent him to the hospital on January 27th where emergency surgery was performed. We heard that the medical and operation fees reached nearly 40,000 yuan up to February 2nd. The police didn't want to pay for the medical expenses since that might mean legal responsibility for the interrogation by torture and intentional injury. Lei Zhengxia's younger sister and other family members worry about being able to afford the huge amounts of medical expenses. |

From 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., the guards took turns asking non-stop questions. |
| Persecution at the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jiutai City, Jilin Province [16.02.2008] |
I want to tell of some of the abuses I have experienced and witnessed at Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp. I am doing so to refute the Communist Party's false claim of "now being the best period of human rights in Chinese history." The Camp's goal of "reforming" or brainwashing us amounts to transforming human beings into subservient robots. In order to achieve this goal, the officials resorted to savage beatings, electric shocks, tying us onto the Death Bed, long-term handcuffing, sleep deprivation, and toilet bans, among other methods. The inmates were authorised to do anything they pleased with me. They beat me, pinched my nose until tears ran down my face on numerous occasions. They slapped my face with shoe soles and burned my heels with cigarette lighters, saying it would cause agonising pain when I walked without leaving a scar, thus no evidence of torture. |
|

She travelled twice by train and walked all the way the third time. Authorities arrested and detained her on all three occasions. The officials sentenced her to one year in a forced labour camp in 2001. While in the camp, the guards verbally and physically abused practitioners, regardless of their age. They used violence to compel good people to "reform." Ren Shuzhen refused to write statements defaming Falun Gong, resulting in her being subjected to a severe beating at the hands of the persecutors. Following this abuse, she was unable to turn over for more than 20 days. Another beating followed, at the hands of guard chief Hu, who beat for persisting in her belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." This beating affected her hearing, and she also became incontinent. |

Mr. Wang tried to inform them about the true nature of Falun Gong. They said, "Do not talk with us about this. We must seize you." Mr. Wang refused to cooperate with them, so they beat him savagely. I saw a group of guards and inmates rush to where the slapping was taking place and more sounds of someone's face being slapped followed. Ten minutes later, inmates were seen dragging three men covered in blood. I saw inmate, Qi Lianfeng brutally punching the severely injured man he was dragging. Qi was punching the man's weak spots such as the chest and the ribs. The scene was pitiful. Inmates dragged the three severely injured men into the "small cell", and tied them to "iron chairs". This was followed by brutal beatings, being shocked with electric batons and unbearable verbal abuse. |

| "Restricted Rooms" Used to Torture Practitioners at Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun, Jilin Province [12.02.2008] |
Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp guards send steadfast practitioners to "restricted rooms" in attempts to force them to write the so-called guarantee statement [promising to abandon the practice]. The guards handcuff a practitioner's hands to the corners of a bed, then use leather belts from underneath the bed to tie the practitioner's knees so as to restrict all movement. Someone constantly monitors the practitioner and forces the her to eat, drink, and relieve herself on the bed for days at a time. They send collaborators, former practitioners who assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners, to try to persuade her not to make trouble for the guards. |

| Practitioner Ms. Kong Xiangying from Mengyin County, Shandong Province Recounts Years of Brutal Persecution and Torture [12.02.2008] |
In 2001 the Jinan City Women's Forced Labour Camp imprisoned over 800 practitioners. The oldest was 62 and the youngest 16. The inmates and practitioners were forced to work more than twelve hours a day. Most of the work was to produce products for export, including gluing flowers, embroidering, sewing quilts, tying ribbons, making medicine boxes and putting the name of Nanjing Pharmaceutical Factory in Jiangsu Province on the boxes. The glue contained a lot of chemicals. Inmates often fainted in the damp and muggy basement. We were also forced to pack pencils and make woven bags. We were held to strict deadlines and given quotas. We often had to work overtime and often until 1:00 a.m. to meet the deadlines. |

| Li Donghong, a Freelance Writer, Was Arrested Again and Is Being Severely Persecuted [12.02.2008] |
Practitioner Li Donghong was monitored by two drug addict inmates. They took turns sleeping on the cement bed and took turns torturing Mr. Li. He had to stand for 24 hours and was not allowed to go to sleep or sit down for a break. The inmates would beat him if he closed his eyes as he stood. The guards in the labour camp boasted that they had more than a hundred vicious methods they could use to persecute and torture practitioners, such as severe beatings, forcing practitioners to eat faeces and spit, and burning their eyes with high power light bulbs. In the severe cold of winter they would force practitioners to stand outside without wearing any clothes. During the hot summer days, they forced practitioners to run in winter coats. |

| Brutality in Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province [11.02.2008] |
In March 2005, practitioner Ms. Niu Lanyun was force-fed in the Women's Forced Labour Camp. Guard Liu Zhongmei ordered drug addicts to give Niu Lanyun a hard time. The four dragged Ms. Niu to the labour camp clinic twice a day for force-feeding, and then repeated the routine in the jail cell. They pinned Niu Yulan to the floor, pried open her mouth with a spoon and grabbed her jaws so they could inject food into her throat. This horrible practice made her mouth bleed and her hair was pulled out and spread everywhere on the floor. The guards did not want to hear Niu Lanyun's protest, so they told the criminals to gag her with a towel and handcuff her arms behind her back. More than 70 days of extended torture made Ms. Niu very skinny and weak. The guards did not want to see her die at the camp, so they ordered her family to pick her up |

She needed help to get out of bed. After that she got scabies all over her body. Some parts of her body festered and swelled. |

| Exposing the Tragic Experience of Being Expelled from University for Practising Falun Gong [11.02.2008] |
On May 18th, 2007, I put up eight posters exposing the persecution at public places around the university. Two days later the secretary of the Communist (CCP) Youth League asked me to come and see several leaders of the university and the head of security. I became very scared and hesitated to say anything, especially because I had never come across this kind of situation. After half an hour, the deputy head of the Security Department, Chen, presented a piece of paper and a pile of documents. I was dumbfounded when I saw them. I tried to remain calm and not let them notice my fear. Chen said, "You put these up, right? You'd better tell us all the details and do not try to hide anything. We can severely punish you because of this issue." Later the CCP expelled me from University. |

| Brutal Persecution at Jiangxi Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp [11.02.2008] |
In order to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their beliefs, one of the common means used by the camp is to confine them in black cells. The guards separately detain those practitioners who firmly believe Falun Dafa into small cells, the area of which is less than 6 square metres. Each practitioner is isolated from the outside and has to complete his daily life in the cell. The cells have very bad smells and practitioners suffer from biting mosquitoes. The guards want to utilise such means to destroy practitioners' will. In order to get more bonus money, the camp implements so-called "fortification fight" (i.e. forced brainwashing). The guards do not let practitioners go to sleep. Without normal rest, some practitioners suffer mental disorders, even mental collapse. |

| The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Persecuted My Parents and Me [06.02.2008] |
Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, they have instilled lies into people's minds about Falun Gong and didn't even overlook the primary school students. The students treated me as an enemy, threatened me, bullied me, and punched and kicked me. Many times I didn't dare to go to school due to the beatings. I reported this to my teacher but he couldn't effectively prevent them from doing bad things to me. My parents have been detained in brainwashing centres and severely tortured. I was traumatised and lagged behind in my studies as a result. |

| Cases of Jinan Forced Labour Camp Officials Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioners [06.02.2008] |
Practitioners who are currently incarcerated are forced to do heavy labour. Regardless of age, they are given high output quotas and are punished if the quotas are not met. The punishment ranges from standing for extended periods of time, writing self-criticism papers, or sleep deprivation. They are subjected to mental torment and physical torture every moment of their incarceration. Ms. Han Aiwen did not cooperate during roll call, so the guards ordered eight criminal inmates to beat her. She was beaten so badly that she let out bloodcurdling screams. |
