On December 29, 2002, Wei-Jao Chen, the President of National Taiwan University attended a Falun Dafa Experience-Sharing Conference and became the first leader in the academic field to speak at a Falun Dafa conference. He said in his speech, "I believe that Falun Dafa is not only a great practise for the cultivation of xinxing [heart nature], but also it can profoundly improve physical health."

Dr. Chen was pleased that several professors at National Taiwan University all practise Falun Gong. He took Chu-cheng Ming, the Chairman of Department of Political Science, as an example. Dr. Ming mentioned at a faculty's meeting that after he practised Falun Gong, he understood the truth of human life, became healthier, slept better, and became more open-hearted. Dr. Chen understands that Falun Gong cultivates Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance, emphasises virtues, and is beneficial to the body.

Dr. Chen is a well-known professor in Medical Science. He understands that Falun Gong emphasises the interconnection of body and heart nature, which is quite reasonable from the viewpoint of medicine.

Currently many well-known professors and staff members at National Taiwan University are Falun Gong practitioners. They include Ching-hsi Chang, the former head of the Department of Economics and the Chairman of the Institute of Economics, Chin-Hwa Chang, the Chairman of the Institute of Journalism, Chu-cheng Ming, the Chairman of the Department of Economics, Ming-yang Hsieh, a professor in Law, Yu-hui Hu, an assistant professor in the Department of Economics, and Li-mei Cheng in the Human Resources Office. They have practised Falun Gong for many years. The Falun Gong Research Society at the National Taiwan University is the earliest established among the universities in Taiwan. The society provides a channel for young people to get to know Falun Dafa.
