Case 1-5: German Resident is Denied Passport Renewal

Description:

After Mr. Yibing Shi’s passport had expired, the Chinese consulate in Hamburg at first accepted his application for a new passport. They later refused to issue the new one without explanation. When Mr. Yibing Shi’s attorney inquired regarding the refusal, he also received no explanation.


Case 1-6: German Resident is Denied Passport Renewal

Description:

Mr. Gang Chen, a student at the Technical University/Munich applied for a new passport in May 2002, because the visa pages in his old passport ran out. The authorities at the Chinese consulate in Munich refused to issue a new passport for him because he is a Falun Gong practitioner.


Case 1-7: Former German Resident Arrested and Detained in Labour Camp

Name: Hongxia Wu, 50, male, business, Chinese
Personal details: Restaurant Worker (Chinese male)
Location and date of incident: Hengyang, China; August 2002.
Description:

Mr. Hongxia Wu came to Germany in 1997, and had worked in a Chinese restaurant in the City of Freiburg. When his work permit had expired in November 2001, he went back to China and was arrested in August of 2002 in Hengyiang.

He has been fired from his job and his bank accounts are frozen.

Presently he is in the Huangjiawan Forced Labour Camp in Hengyiang City. He has been threatened with three years of incarceration if he refuses to sign the “three Repentance Statements”. According to information from his family, his situation is very grim.

(Note: the “Three Statements” are declarations that say:

  1. A practitioner regrets that he has ever practised Falun Gong,

  2. Will promise never to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong

  3. Will never again associate with other Falun Gong practitioners).
